  • I would've held his ass all night for kneeing me in my balls. Hey , knee my balls, I break your knee. Done Deal. 0:25

  • Did he pop his knee

  • That move should be banned , it is so easy to cause major damage with little force and virtually no time to tap . Save the inverted ankle locks for pro MMA not a BJJ tournament .

  • @MindofaJedi Thats why there only allowed in advanced divisions where its mostly purple belts and above and high level wrestlers. If your that advanced and dont tap when you should then you deserve to get some ligaments torn

  • @brutmastaflash The problem with that is that experience has nothing to do with it , you can't tell your caught until it is too late . I have seen blue belts send black belts into surgery many times . Not to mention the whole idea of belts is a bit ridiculous . Did you see what Palhares did in the UFC recently ? Possibly ended someones career . Only a real dumbass would say someone deserves an injury that can be lifelong for competing in a contest , grow up man .

  • @MindofaJedi You think that experience has NOTHING to do with it? How many leglocks / hard training reps etc. do you think Ryan gets subjected too without particularly notable injuries(afaik) because he's so much safer and more able to protect himself in those positions due to his familiarity and EXPERIENCE in them.

The 50/50 position is ALL about experience but experience in that particular position.

  • @MindofaJedi actually this dude had all day to tap. he just thought he could fight it off. but agreed this move is dangerous but that's why its banned in a lot of bjj tournaments.

  • great tactic.

  • the imanari nice:)

  • should have tapped dummy, now your miniscus is prob torn and you will be out for at least 2 months.

  • props to ryan on that imanari roll in the beginning. Ryan Hall is a beast

  • You can bet your ass it's money too!!

Most lower to middle belt in bjj dont have a clue about leg lock!! So it's money in da bank!!

  • Nice job but he triangle his leg the wrong side. Ryan was open to heell hook too. You should traingle inside the leg and put your outside knee to the ground. The guy cant close the distance if doing so.

  • Dude he named his Jiu Jitsu school after that exact position, I think he has it down.

  • ive rolled with the dude, and he would wreck u all day, u sound lik a kayboard warrior but wont put up anything on the mat

  • I dont understand your reply. what's your point?

did you even know what i'm talking about??

Did you even try to triangle your leg in the inside to see the difference??

Outside = race to the sub, easier to set-up

inside = safer, little bit harder to set-up

The fact that he can tap me right and left doesnt matter we are talking about technique.

I think you're just a noob who start grappling last moth.

  • do u even know the name of the position? do u even know what the submission is?

    your

"Outside = race to the sub, easier to set-up

inside = safer, little bit harder to set-up"

    comment is totally incorrect

  • Do you REALY think that mr Hall invent it all? You probably call it 50/50 position, in Sambo it's just a leg control.Let's discuss that like adult ok? You cant say it's safer than inside. 'cause it's 50/50 lol!! Look at the vid, his legs are open to be attacked too. He got the sub 'cause he drill it like a mad man so, he won the 'race' to the sub. But from a stricly grappling point of view inside triangle with outside knee to the ground the control is way better, it's safer but harder to setup.

  • did i ever say he invented it? and how are you goingto tell me to talk like an adult when myposts are all mature but urs include worlds like noob andetc like your a13 yearold.

in the50/50 position ur onlyopen when udont figure 4 ur legs and the inverted heel hook (the submission he used) is alot more effective ,hurts more, more damaging, and because he drilles the position so much its easier 2 get.

  • Your the one saying i'm a keyboard warrior...

Put 'cacc leg lock set ups' in youtube and you will see the vid we shoot not long ago.

Check at 1:30 mark, inside triangle, inverted heel hook and come back tell me it's not safer.

You are wrong saying you are not open to sub with outside triangle, it's not true at all. the uke can sit up on you or try to leg lock you. It's a race.

  • You're absolutely on the money that it's safer to have your legs triangled on the inside. And that a lot of people probably think Hall invented "the 50/50 position. I has been used in sambo forever.

But the way Hall does the 50 50 is money too. It fits in with his inverted guard triangle set ups and the speed that he crosses his feet for the 50 50 puts him in a pretty safe place.

  • thats why its called the "50/50" position both fighters can be leg locked. Notice that Ryan put his leg that was in danger on the BOTTOM of the triangle making it A LOT harder for him to get caught. He may get caught in a straight ankle lock but lets get real, when's the last time a straight ankle lock beat a heel hook? He's beaten numerous black belts from that position he knows how it works.

And that leg positioning gives you sweeps and back takes should he stand out.

  • he didnt beat andrew smith from that position. goat fury is sick with the leg locks

  • I never said he did. I didnt mention any names I dont understand comment.

  • I didnt mean any disrespect- I know andrew and ryan through US grappling, they are both experts with leglocks, so I was just pointint out the andrew got he best of him from that 50/50 position

  • That wasn't the 50/50 and I'm pretty sure Ryan was a white belt at that point. I have a feeling it'd be a little different now.

  • so you think that he went from white belt to brown belt in just over a year? that match was in march of last year- I don't think too much has changed since then

  • March of last year? I haven't competed against Andrew since 2005.

  • yea cool, this is the advanced division?

  • Nope. It was a small pro team tournament. Was competing for Dan Simmler's school.

  • ryan hall is the king

  • should have tapped, lose the ego

  • you guys are right. He's lucky if he's able to limp honestly. Heel hooks are an ortho surgeon's best friend. nice job ryan.

  • Nice sub...he should have tapped, but instead he will be limping for a while by the looks of it.

  • Wow!!! Good work but he should have tapped.
