stalingrad was one of the reasons the soviets had the most casualties out of all the armies. the soviets lost millions, not just soldiers, but men, women and children all died. It is considered the bloodiest battle in human history by historians. If the battle in the streets didnt kill you, the subzero temperatures surely would have.
