Over 100 people commited suicide shortly after hearing this song, most of them, had the sheet music next to them, and had just finished playing it on the piano. I have the sheet music, and have finished playing it on the piano, just about 3 minutes. I think it's kind of pretty, the reason for it's being made, is depressing... so it kind of sounds that way, but... other than that... not really.

This sheet music shows the original lyrics written by Rezső Seress and its called "The End of the World", but instead the lyrics of Gloomy Sunday as we now from the songs are written by Jávor László.

Why...when some song is beautiful...it's called depressing ? I don't understand. Don't feel depressed at all listening...ok, just a bit, because it's not my favourite Gloomy Sunday overhere. ;)
Because of the Hungarian lyrics, the English translation can't give back the real meaning of the poem... especially not this translation version. Also, in the original poem there are only 2 verses (up to dreaming, I was only dreaming...) not 3 like this song ! In the first verse the poet is crying over the death of its lover, in the second verse the poet is dying as well.
@Devito46 The lyrics were added in after its composition, it was originally just a piano piece. The reason its seen as depressing is more about those that killed themselves involved with this piece. The Original really isn't depressing.
Sarah Mclachlen i believe - if you search Gloomy Sunday you'll find one labeled her's and i believe it's a video - nice..i wouldn't say "heartwarming" - but i'm hungarian - so that's just the blood i guess..
