@EchtePoekel It is certainly a good headphone, but a bit overpriced in my opinion :) Even the stretch which i like more than this one is a little overpriced at 100 euros. For a hundred you can get for instance the Pioneer HDJ-500, of which Ive read very good reviews, as well as some Audio Technica headphones that are apparently really nice :)
@CCReviews ok thanks, im now thinking about or a phillips shl5800 or a pioneer hdj-500, which should I take? I only care about sound quality, i like good bass and clear mid-highs
@EchtePoekel The pioneers I think :) I would love to hear those myself, cuz ive read so many good things about it... They also look very nice in my opinion. If you go for the Pioneer, please let me know what you think of them! :)
i have a problem...i can't decide which headphones are the best for me :( i have no clue about the technical aspects or the sound, but i think i wouldn't hear a major difference between these headphones and "the stretch"... i like the design of these headphones more, because i don't like the stretch's "double headband". but i like the cable of "the stretch", it's only on one side and covered, i really don't like the flat one... is there an alternative??
@Rotkaeppchen1293 Nope sorry, you can't interchange the cables or anything. if you prefer one sided cables, maybe take a look at some new AKG stuff or the new 400 range from Sennheiser. I'll be uploading a review on the brand new HD439 from sennheiser next sunday!
i want nice looking headphones for traveling back and forth from school, im mostly going to be riding the public bus. I can get these and The Stretch for 50 USD, which ones do you recommend?
@Gamedogz09 they tend to leak a little more than usual, and i think for planes, they're just not noise cancelling enough. So you'll still hear the engine noise. However, it is much better than Skullcandy and consorts in that respect. However, for planes, active noise cancelling is the way to go :)
Great review. I'd like your opinion on how these compare to the akg's k450N. Even if you haven't listened to the akg's. You probably know how they should sound.
How do you say that it DOESN'T leak too much??? lol I made a video to compare the leak between these and the Stretch. If you're listening loud on these, everyone around you can CLEARLY hear your music...like not even joking....They can hear everything.
@bratosin1 If you have criticism, maybe don't insult me? Kinda immature.. Anyway, I didn't say anything about a- or a+, I just said the bass isn't the deepest, clearest, hardest out there. I prefer The Stretch for the bass tbh, as well as some Sennheiser's. And no, not the Beats by Dr Dre.
@CCReviews i'm sorry man i over reacted. you are a great reviewer. What do u think about logitech ultimate tri fi ?? or sony ex 1000 monitor studio ??? tell me please what in ear phones have the haviest bass and the most accurate sound ??cheers man.peace.
@bratosin1 No problem :) I've got no idea what those other products are like :( I have only tested the headphones on this channel. In ear headphones with heavy bass? Not a lot I think, since the drivers are so small it is hard to produce a lot of bass and still keep the sound quality high. For accurate sound, I do recommend Sennheiser, in the higher end segment (60-100EUR), I had a pair of CX 400 II, but after a year and a half they broke (due to wear and tear), but the sound was incredible.
@CCReviews do u think sennheiser in ears are better than bose in ear ?? beacuse i have bose in ear,the bass is ok 9 ,the midle 8 but the hights is crap man 5 or less..
@bratosin1 Hmm compared to Bose I'm not really sure. I haven't tested Bose in-ear yet, never heard them neither... But for the best music experience I'd go with headphones, even though earbuds are more discrete...
@CCReviews Few quick questions, the cushions looks avesome but are they removable because I have a felling that after sometime they will turn black due to dirt and how is the bass? Is it OK for listening techno ?
@Laughnator The cushions are indeed very good, but are not removable as far as I could see, I didn't try because I was afraid I would break the leather, but they didn't get black due to dirt or wore out quicly due to sweat.. The bass is pretty okay, and will be okay for techno, but The Stretch offers a slightly better bass for listening to techno in my opinion :)
@Peniscreaper MSRP is still 99.99 at Philips's online store mate, of course you will find it cheaper elsewhere, particulary at Amazon. Same thing witht he stretch :)
little question.. are the philips SHL 5800 better or worse than beats by dre Solo and/or Studio?

I prefer the look of akg bit what about the sound?

@PietahBroodjuh i think the shl5800 looks nicer, and the k450 i believe are on the ear so the shl5800 would be better

When I tested it, it didn't leak extremely much, like e.g. the standard apple earbuds. Those leak a lot!
however i does indeed leak more than the stretch :)
