Now sold as the ATR-6250. It's over 20 years old. That's like buying something made in 1960 in 1980. It was $50 in 1991. It actually gives pretty good results if used carefully.
I want to know what this mic will sound like when riding in a car. I have the kodak zi8 and the onboard mic silences out when in a moving car. If anyone has made a video with this mic on a car ride I'd love to see it.
this is a great review, im gonna add it to my film making shopping list right now, im getting the panasonic hdc-sd60 camcorder , i dont think it has external mike inputs, so if i were to place my laptop below me, could i use it that way and then place the sound and video together, great tutorial, keep up the good work, i truly think oyu should do some more product reviews as they are funny and useful,
Can this be used as a boom mic and recorded onto an external hard drive to be layered with the video? Because I have a Sony HDR-CX100 which has no audio input...
Sorry I hate to be negative if your new to the audio video world but this was terrible.
"the on switch comes in handy"? that's like saying a steering wheel in a car comes in handy. makes no sense.
you also pulled out a stereo rca cable and called it a "video" cable.
testing the mic was useless, talking into them at different distances makes comparison pointless. you also call it a shotgun mic, which it's not, its a stereo mic, but if it was a shotgun you'd have to be a a far distance to test
It's a STEREO mic. Why would you record voice close up with a STEREO mic. If you're going to do a review of audio equipment, then cover what the mic would actually be used for which would be a situation where STEREO recording is needed. Your video does not demonstrate what this mic is supposed to be used for. You should take a class or at least read a book about audio recording before giving advice on the internet.

Just wondering, I just got this mic and I am unsure as to how long the battery will last?
It has no LED on/off indicator, so I always end up leaving it on haha I am scared that I am going to film a whole days worth of skating and end up with no audio.
please tell me where you got your extension cord and what kind it is! i have this mic and an extension cord from amazon but my extension cord has a very high pitched noise to it when it's plugged in so i need a different one! I would really appreciate it if you sent me the link! thanks so much!
Hi there I posted a comment a while ago and well I want to purchase a mic and well this one sounds intresting but I found another microphone at best for the same price Samson - Dynamic Vocal Microphone and well I was wondering which microphone you's recommend!
@CFsnare07 I have been trying to find out the same thing man, I ordered one today though because I don't need the bass as much as I need the sound to be focused on my subject rather than background noise.. but I will post a test video for you when I get it in the mail next week.
you should do more product reviews, you did a great job. there's a lot of crappy reviews out there and this is the one someone would be looking for if they wanted one.
Awesome, well you'll love it, its a great little mic. I recorded a fireworks show with it and had my living room shaking playing it on my home theater lol, It picks up lows real well :)
Will it plug straight to my t3i

@Friendsofthefruits only cameras with a mic in. Otherwise record it on your computer or a recording device.

Would have been nice to hear it with a little more distance and to hear how things sound off axis? Still, a helpful review though...

In my opinion this mic doesn't worth $30, with a little bit more you can get a professional audio. This mic distorts your voice very much.
