She's not saying that this story happened when she was 8 or 9. She was saying that she's been a fan since then to give some context as to why dancing with Madonna meant to much to her.

It's not her fault if there is any ambiguity. In the broadcast version, Norton provides the context by saying something like "You recently danced with Madonna at X party".
