Not all the safari jeeps or trucks are open like that, you have a choice if you truly don't wan't to go in a open jeep you can wait for another closed jeep. But either way it still has its degree's of danger, which is why most people choose to go on safari trips in the first place.

@dimopsg firstly, the thought of eating humans is not very appetizing to lions. in fact i know of very few instances of lions eating humans. they may attack humans if you get too annoying though. they are also more scared of us and our vehicles than you think (especially in the wild). they usually only get brave enough to attack humans when they are in captivity (surrounded by humans, therefore they get used to them)

well, in my opinion you guys should not use the light to track them. it disturbs their activities pretty much and prevent them from hunting bcuz other animals can see them as clearly as u can. i think tourists should really respect the nature. we can only watch them, dont do anything else pls

You are right. People should not push the wildlife or get too close. If the cats had been hunting the jeep would have stayed back and used no light. If you watch the video the kill was already made by the time we got there. We stayed to watch the first lions eat who were lower in the pride, and then to see the larger males come in for their share. The guide made the call to use the light once it got dark as to keep track where the lions all were. This place has strict rules.

Well..probably peed my pants and then died. But most often they leave you alone if you are quiet. The guides can start those jeeps pretty fast if they feel the situation isn't good.

They are low watt search lights from the jeep for night drives. Lewa does allow night drives. So if you go on a 2 week safari for instance. Maybe one or two of the nights you are there in those 10 days, they will bring you out at night for an hour or so.

Supposedly, being inside the vehicle, you are safe. The wildlife has become so used to cars and trucks, they accept them as just being part of the scenery. But, you never know when an exception to the rule shows up, and decides to see if the vehicles inhabitants are edible.

Actually, my sister was almost attacked by a lion. Lions don't normally attack or eat people, but once their food becomes scarce, they become more adventurous eaters - adventurous enough to try people. People may be a hassle to eat, but they are easy to catch (and Americans are fat and tender too). Lions that attack people usually develop a preference and therefore must be killed so as to prevent future attacks. You're damn right it is scary to be so close. I will kill your entire family.

yes opened air. the light was on the from the sides and not on a lot. The footage you see here are the shots that have the light on. But most of the time, we were sitting in the dark with our guide watching.

There are rules that vehicles have to be on certain roads. Also where this was filmed it is very rocky and hilly and the jeeps do very little if any damage to that kind of terrain. The catch of conservation..you want the animals to live free, but if paying tourist don't come to see them, they wont have a chance to survive.
