actually.. puppies can leave whenever they start to leave their mum and not want milk :s maybe thats what this puppie did.. and im sure its alive now so shut up xD
To be honest yoU should get the dog at 8 weeks but it depends on the dog I got my yorkie at 8 weeks but stoped weening at about 7 weeks but still best to weight till 8 weeks tho.
So if it isn't bad enough that the poor thing was taken from it's family early, you just go on and film it in distress. You could ATLEAST try and comfort it.....
This baby is way too small to be without mommy. I breed Yorkshires and my babies are currently 6 weeks old. I would never allow them to leave at this age. Your baby can hardly walk. She is going to be malnourished and she looks as if she's been over fed. Certainly a sign of puppy food at too early an age. Where did you get this pup? Was she a puppy mil dog? These are usually the only people that will give them away at too early an age. Money money money!!! Shame on them! Take it to the Vet!
aww. my dad was about to buy another dog and he saw a puppy that was 2 days old. he was going to take it, but he was afraid that his other dog, that is realy big, might hurt it.
OMGGGG im like dying of this dog's cuteness! my mom was about to get yorkie puppy on Wednesday cuz she thought it was stray and she was about to take it the vet to see if any injuries but she didnt realize it had a collar loll
Ya that's true it's really not a good idea to separate a pup from the siblings and mother until 8 weeks. They say that you shouldn't get a puppy from a breeder that doesn't follow that. It's adorable though!
I appologize to the video poster and all bystanders for detracting from how wonderful this video is by arguing with someone like cookiecache2. Sorry I just didn't want anyone taking his bad advice.
This is a wonderful video of a beautiful yorkie. I first watched it just before buying my yorkie 6 months ago. It gave me a lot too look forward too, after all, they are just so cute! =)
LOL, yes, me, the owner, the seller, my vet, my seller, the other vet I know, and all the documented journal articles of reported hypoglycemia in toy breads are wrong. Everyone is stupid but you.
Are you saying it's okay to take dogs home at 6 weeks because the reports of hypoglycemia are incorrect? I said even if they are eating and drinking fine, they still need to stay with their mother until 8 weeks. BTW, you're being mocked in a stupid pet owner community by about 75 people for saying it's okay to take them home at 6 weeks.
It was in response to "If it's eating and drinking okay, it's wonderful that it goes home well before it's ready to leave its mother!!!" Learn how to read and do a google search on when it's okay for a puppy to leave its mother, fucktard.
My bad advice that Yorkshire Terrier puppies should stay with their mothers until 10 weeks and puppies in general shouldn't leave their mothers until 8 weeks?
I agreed with you about staying with their mothers at 8 weeks. I also said it was ok under certain circumstances to take them home at 6 weeks, and stated you had to watch out for hypoglycemia.
You saying their diet/hypoglycemia isn't important was bad advice.
You saying that the main problems were socialization and biting inhibition was bad advice.
Your counterpoints of calling others ****tards, stupid, idiots, dumbass, showed how much you actually knew about the subject.
That you just called me a ****tard and told me to talk to a Vet is hilarious.
Again, you clearly lost that argument when your only counterpoints are to ignor the Hypoglycemia of Yorkies and call me a f***tard, stupid, and dumbass.
It's true, many breeds shouldn't leave their mothers until 8-10 weeks.
However, if you get the dog locally at 6 weeks and it clearly isn't having any problems when you bring it home i.e.- is eating and acting like a normal dog, then you're ok. Now after 2 days if it's not eating anything, then it needs to go back to its mother.
This puppy clearly wasn't having problems, so it was fine.
It is you cookie, and not steridge, that knows jackshit.

No stupid, key socialization with other dogs (the mother and siblings) happens in this time frame, dumbass. It doesn't matter if the dog is eating/drinking fine.
No, it DOES matter if the dog is eating/drinking fine, ESPECIALLY IF IT'S A YORKIE which can easily become hypoglycemic at that age.
New dogs often won't eat in new environments. This is a big problem if the dog doesn't have the fat reserves yet to go without eating for a few days, it can result in all sorts of hypoglycemic health problems. The dog not dying is important.
Key socialization can still happen, that you need to call people stupid and dumbass shows you know nothing.

That's funny, because you're dead wrong. No puppy should leave its mother until it is eight weeks old. Until then, even if it is fully weaned, it is still learning valuable dog behaviour from its mother such as bite inhibition.
LOL, ya i'd delete that comment where your counterpoint was you calling me a ****tard too if I were you.
Now it's bite inhibition huh? You think that at 6 weeks a dog does not have bite inhibition but at 10 weeks it suddenly does if left with other dogs?
No, at 10 weeks, they have not learned bite inhibition, most breeds don't learn that until at least 4 months, and many won't have it out of their system until later.
At this point most readers know not to trust your pet advice.
@steridge yeah yeah whatever? Puppies need to be weamed but your to stupid to know that. They need the milk and when they are 8 weeks they don't need it anymore. They also need the other puppies company and such. You should know that and care and not be so chill about how young your dog is to be away from tis mother.
@steridge When they leave their mothers early, it can cause psychological damage an anxiety issues. I have a pom who was taken from his mother early, and he has a number of issues because of this.
@steridge That's a really rude thing to say. You are ruining that dogs life, all so that YOU can get what YOU want sooner. You are a DISGUSTING vile human being!!
@cookiecache2 it just depends on how the pup is. i got mine around 6-7 weeks and she is doing fine and the breeder and handler has to approve that the dog is going to be in good hands. My dog is 3 years old now with no problems
@cookiecache2 you are right my friend had a puppy and it was well i don't know how old he was but he died he was not older well you know what i mean so yeah
OMG yorkshire terriers are so small! i kno when they are old they arent that big but at the puppy stage they are SO SMALL! BTW wat did you name ur puppy????
i bought mine when he was 8 weeks, hes 4 years old now, but when there little they always want cuddles, like on a walk if its cold they want to be picked up, our was soo tiny that whenever he wanted a cuddle, we could fit him in a hat!
WTTFFFF 6 weeks?!?!? too damn young to be taken away from its mother and siblings...no wonder it kept crying in the beginning...at that age they dont have the proper social skills they need yet...poor puppy...whoever sold it to u should be ashamed
don't worry, its pretty common practice. There is no mathematical equation to when it should be taken. The right time is when it no longer needs to be weaned by the mother and can walk.
I agree with Sio99. I worked at a pet store and we have babies that young-6 weeks. Any REAL animal specialist would tell you that's WAY too damn young to take them away from mom.
And, I hope you realize that if you got that from a petstore, its mother probably lives in a cage and has never had any love at all...its what we call a puppy mill.
People like small, cute things. If they're too big people wouldn't buy them, hence the reason they get separated too soon. That whining? Yeah...that's because it was taken from its mom too soon.
I got my trixie at fourteen weeks. The breader will not let her go before all the shots were done. first shot 6 weeks, and every 3 weeks after that, till the 12th weekthe wormed in between, then, this breader observe them for two weeks to make sure all is fine. this breader gets a health certificate at that time. I hope your pupp is ok. He looks very healthy to me. good luck
Agreed 6 weeks is too young. 8 weeks at minimum. No wonder the poor thing seemed unsteady on her feet. I'm sure you'll take good care of her at least :) Good Luck

im sorry to say but you got ripped off like many people on posting theyre puupies yours isnt a yorkie it has no characteristics of even a semi purebred yorkie
don't listen to jolynn0516, he does have characteristics of a purepred yorkie, the coloring, the size for the age, the only thing that is different is that he oes no have his tail docked. and i tihnk it's cuter that way! do some research and you'll find out that he is a yorkie.
i got my yorkshire terrier puppy from a breeder at hartlepool maybe we got them from the same guy except mine was born in december and u posted this in september ... was her mam called Dotty? eee how mad would it be if our puppies were related :p

I have a 7 year old yorkie and she is still 3 pounds. cute puppy
gibsonusa7 3 years ago
Agreed 6 weeks is too young. 8 weeks at minimum. No wonder the poor thing seemed unsteady on her feet. I'm sure you'll take good care of her at least :) Good Luck

im sorry to say but you got ripped off like many people on posting theyre puupies yours isnt a yorkie it has no characteristics of even a semi purebred yorkie
jolynn0516 3 years ago
don't listen to jolynn0516, he does have characteristics of a purepred yorkie, the coloring, the size for the age, the only thing that is different is that he oes no have his tail docked. and i tihnk it's cuter that way! do some research and you'll find out that he is a yorkie.

6 weeks old is far too young for the pup to be taken from it's mum. Shame on the breeder.
