  • How cool would it be to get to work with Ben Folds on a project like this? Makes me want to learn how to sing!

  • So wonderful! Love Ben Folds.

But a glaring mistake! The Loreleis are from UNC-Chapel Hill!

  • 10:26 Ben Folds looks like a god.

  • My friend's boyfriend was the vocal percussionist in on of these groups!! :D

  • Thank you for being a friend to collegiate a cappella. These young people work very hard with their music and bring smiles to many, many faces!

  • I love this album!

Ben Folds was already awesome, but he is just made all the more awesome by making this.

  • awesome album. great idea. great doc

  • is Ben crying at 10.40 ?

it sounds so beautiful, i would cry too =' )

    this album is amazing

  • @Leslie150 i think so, i mean...to hear some group perform a song you wrote with such attention to detail in all you put into it. thats something truly amazing

  • LOVE a capella. LOVE this album.

  • would like to have sen more complete songs but it still sounds great... I love acappella stuff (maybe because I was in choir?)

  • my audio's not good, at 9:40, what exactly is he telling the group?

  • xD xD "I'm recording with Ben folds..." just made my day!! :D

  • too bad University of Chicago isnt in this documentary, they were the best ones.

  • Which song did they sing?

  • The album is a thing of the gods! Just got it over in Louisville, it is a definete must-have!!

  • I must own this!!!

  • Yes . . .you must...

  • bbbut... but money...

  • Personally, I would have rather had some creative arrangements, and not only vocal transcriptions trying to sound exactly like the CD version, but hey, I'm not the one making the CD ;-).

  • some of them are significantly different from the original arrangement, especially evaporated.

  • Well, I'll give the Newtones that for not taking the CD version literally, though it's still not "out there" like I was expecting. (Perhaps because my own arrangements are borderline insane? ;-) ).

  • why isnt there anything on this about the ohio university leading tones?! one of the best groups on the record!

  • i just loved this.

  • Is it me or did the male and coed groups sound a lot better than the female ones? Female a cappella groups just seem to suffer from the reduced range.

  • I've actually heard a lot of really awesome female groups with women who can hit tenor and bass range. Perhaps the full songs would showcase that better.

  • The editor must be on crack... or he doesn't know how to normalize audio. I was turning it up and down the whole time!

  • love this cd

  • did i hear someone mention julia nunes? 2:32 hahahaha love her

  • I got the CD and I really do feel that you get the "You Are There" perspective.

  • a few inaccuracies ...

the Loreleis are from UNC Chapel Hill,

the Spartones are from UNC Greensboro.

  • so, why the mistake, you think? i mean that is odd that it would be made since ben folds went to unc, right? and uncg is down the road. mmmm, i wonder.

  • Ben folds using breathing gym? Kick ass.

  • you suck ass

  • 14:32 - Carlton Banks? Princeton Nassoons?

  • Man, that a capella-R&B Brick was such an ill-conceived concept.

  • don't remember hearing that...

  • The audio level differences between segments needs remeastering, otherwise, very well put together.

  • crap how the vid is edited, with the vol differences

  • The Loreleis have some hot altos.

  • Wish Ben had include UCSD Beat. They are such an amazing group!

  • What a crazy, disorganized video that had so much promise.

  • 6:18 - 7:00 AMAZING!!

  • How in the name of God did Hyannis Sound not get a winning place in that competition?? they were head and shoulders above every other group bar some one elses money... Yo Ben take the ear plugs out next time mate!!! (still a maj fan tho!)

  • "im recording with ben folds..."

  • lol....that shit is great

  • What a great sound....and from such a great artist.

  • There's so much new a cappella music and arrangements coming out right now. It's really exciting to see Ben Folds endorse and pursue the cool arrangements of his music. Awesome.. kudos and props to Mr. Ben Folds.

  • ola jonas soy su fan 1 los amo pero mas a nick jonas

  • Hey!!!!

How do I get my videos to be over 10 minutes? =(

  • amazing!

  • One of my favourite albums.

  • i really couldn't stand "not the same" on this album, but loved fred jones 2, still fighting it, and the luckiest =)

  • You should put links to some of the cappella groups in the sidebar.

  • Yeah, exactly its cool how he finds and records talented people.. tommy emmanual also helps out young talented musicians too.

  • Saw Ben Folds in Atlanta. A capella group started the show, it was neat but unfortunately the sound was messed up.

  • How can I be forgiven, I am a devil worshipping fool who is pissed off at God. Is hell not life, what is life? Is all sin forgiveable?

  • Yay for a cappella! I'm a dork, I know.

  • Amazing groups. Incredible.

Ben Folds Please do this in Canada. We have similar numbers!

  • Please continue with projects like that, I hope this could impact the way the young people is considering the music

  • All I can say is WOW... Keep it going guys, while part of the world is destructive you are constructive and creative. Way to go!!

    UGA mofos!

  • Can I get a "Go Dawgs!" ???

  • sic em!

  • Ben Folds has always been cool, in his way, but with this endeavor, he reaches ultra-cool status. I was at the Princeton show where the Nassoons opened for him, btw, and they rocked.

  • Awesome, Ben. How cool of you for following your muse to strange and wonderful places. I'll pay for it!

In this video, the sound level jumps up and down in places.

  • just go to thetoolbucket . com

  • gay

  • Absolutely love it. Great idea Ben, and great job to everyone involved.

  • so good !

  • i went to see him, and he had a group with him,

  • Alyssa smells like poop!

  • Alyssa smells like poop.

  • Fuck off you retarted shit.

  • wasnt my idea

  • Boom box, you are a d-bag

    this is awesome

  • boom box is right, this sucks and ben is being a d-bag for not recording new material. even though every album since WE&EA has pretty much blown...

  • You know what sucks about being in A Capella?

Telling your parents that your gay.

  • Freakin' Awesome

  • so cool!!!!! Ben is the best! I used to be nuts about him :) what a cool project idea!

  • lol

  • The Spartones are AMAZING.

They performed at my school and they absolutely blew me away.

  • cool

  • Is that Anoop at 10:28, cool video

  • White people (or all colors) in their natural habitat.

  • the video has two groups backwards....the spartones are from unc-greensboro, the loreleis from UNC

  • Heh, my brother has this album. It's actually what introduced me to Ben Folds.

  • I can't believe he didn't use UC Berkeley's "Bitches ain't shit" :(

  • a bit of a downer, yes...

  • no no no no no no no no

  • I think this is why Ben Folds is so successful and loved -- he does such interesting, out-of-the-box things and engages his fans. He makes people want to like him.

    P.S. Brain hemorrhoid. hhaha.

  • its not that he makes people want to like him...he just understands his fans

this is probably one of the most brilliant ideas for an album ever

  • Why aren't there more mixed male/female a capella groups?

  • I like it, the video quality is amazing too!

  • I didn't enjoy the character in the green shirt, but she was probably made to look bad in the editing like what they did to Fantasia. but I did like the girl and the boys who sang at about 13 minutes. They were really wonderful. What a great idea. This was a cool video.

  • Somebody tell that kidin the Yellow Shirt that its too LOUD. It was overpowering the singers.

  • So that's why I got so many hits the last time I searched for "Army"!

Damn, I love Ben, his music AND this!

  • Ben Folds: Brick, Gracie Girl, Bastard, Adelaide...Love the dude

  • Aww, I wish the Ramblers were in the actual documentary.. They recorded "Army" for the album & they rock.

  • BEN FOLDS IS A GOD IN HIS OWN WAY :D

  • cool video to see, but the audio track is mixed Terribly, you could barely hear what anyone was saying unless you turn it way up, and then when it switches back to the audio that the video maker added it gets way way way too loud.
