  • I guess Chris wanted to make it more easy to play............This is so much different than the original track. My song leader will not let me off that easy.......................lol I guess this is like the "unplugged' version?

  • Yeah, and when this man has a close relationship with his Savior, he will always know, who has given him the talent and what for..... to carry out His will through music, wonderful.

  • sweetness

  • @Stiemycine God Bless you

  • @Stiemycine U will NEVER EVER SEE a Christian say something like that to you, u know you why? Cuz Jesus is love and He lives in us. Therefore, we show nothin but love.

  • JBU chris

  • guys, does anybody have a link to the bassline of this song?? its hard to figure out

  • we are forgiven and free... PRAISE GOD!!!!!

  • 3:37 makes me wanna cry... so awesome to hear such a joyful noise!

  • i love this song

  • we are made to worship......... lovely versus....... Jesus we love you lord.

  • Turn off the lights, focus your mind on the music, powerful song!

  • My favorite song ever! I have done that many times! Its amazing the effect it gives eh?

  • I really like this song. I wonder how difficult it is for such a popular christian singer to not get a big head. With all those people cheering for me I think at times I would forget Who I was really doing the music for. I pray Chris is a stronger person than I am.

  • I wonder the same thing....he is such an amazing person and I have no idea how he stays so humble!

  • He is able to keep you from all evil. When He (Jesus) chooses a man, He will provide the strength to keep you head up to Christ.

  • muy buenas sus canciones de este hermano...jejej

    bless

  • bendiciones !!

    vilma

  • My brothers and sisters I have followed these lost souls comments through several comment postings for various songs. He only seeks to to disturb the peace of your souls in Christ Jesus. Do not "cast your pearls before swine" pray for his soul but be careful as the evil one is not below using your urge to pray to infect your purity of heart.

  • I think you must be talking about God. All hail Him or suffer later... but He actually loves you, too! How amazing is that! :)

  • chris tomlin rocks thank u cmatthaios

  • ...arose at the third day...

    and the victory is won!!!

  • Look man im all for freedom of religion....but crap like this should not b on youtube.....its not right.....and God will come and take ur leader out....U watch....God Bless

  • how can you love a frikkin representative of evil. One that loves killing. one that loves deciet? One that loves sexual immorality? One that loves lying? One that loves corruption, hate, lust, and laziness? He is an idol of evil. An idol of corruption and defilement. How can you worship that? Even if you worship him, you will never be him. God always wins. One day all will fall to their knees in surrender, even Satan and his demons. Give it up. Satan will lose.

  • When you respond to replys, could you please do so in sentences? I don't understand much of what you are trying to get across when you put a poem out there, or lyrics, which ever they are. Appreciate it. :)

  • I guess from my perspective the first paragraph is talking about those who don't believe like Christians. And the second paragraph seems to mean that you wrote it while under the power of the world and Satan. "Death and darkness rule the earth" I agree. They won't forever, so we have hope that it will eventually end. If you are worshiping Satan, please remember that many people do without realizing it, and feel sorry later. Please share your ideas on Christianity by personal messages. :)

  • Love is indeed a powerful weapon.

  • You're silly... bless your heart :)

  • Hey there, buddy. I'm not going to insult your beliefs.. but I would like to chat about them. Like can I just ask you some questions? Could you explain to me more about your beliefs, not just lyrics. And I can do the same if you have questions. But what do you mean, Christ, a two faced liar?

  • i love this song!

  • What an amazing video! this song is absolutely fantastic (especially performed live). Wish I could go to a Passion conference :)

  • same!

  • That audience is so encouraging...

  • this is such an amazing video, it's SO AMAZING!!!! it's my favorite video ever. I love it! and the song of course, it's one of Chris's best songs ever!! (I wish I was there)

Oh goodness. Love this song muchly.

And Chris Tomlin has an awesome voice too.

  • ey das lied ist echt toll =) erhoben sei der Herr

  • this song is awesome! :)

  • this is a great song

  • You and i embrace surrender you and i choose to believe you and i will see we were meant to be! Amazing song all of the words are so true! always remember that you and i were made to worship you and i were called to love you and i are forgiven and free! God is so amazing! To Him be all the glory honor and praise!

  • yeah but it's all very vague "worship" what does it mean? what for? yes honor god "thanks for us being all alive"

    and forgiven? forgiven for what?

People come down to Earth, don't be so hasty to make it to heaven, there are things down here on Earth that needs to be taken care of.

  • I couldnt agree more with taking care of things on earth. We are called to be good stewards of the earth.according to Genesis 1 and 2

  • I can only respond to your questions by personal belief and by what the bible has taught me.

First of all I worship God to thank him for all of the amazing things he has done for me. First of all giving his son Jesus to die on the cross so that i may live forever in heaven with him. Secondly Just for everything he has done for me personally. The biggest one i can think of right now is he healed me of a chronic disease that was eating away at me. And so many other thing...the list goes on and on

  • Secondly he forgave all of us for all of the sins we have committed. None of us did anything to deserve his forgiveness or grace but it is his gift to us.

Yes you are very right God has put us all on this earth for a purpose and before we go to live with him forever we need to complete what he has for us to do. People should be focused on God no matter what and that will lead to you doing the tasks God has in place for you and ultimately to heaven.

  • iom so blessedin this song... Realy God is great.....

  • Ill even go a step further, darwin himself said that if one mechanical mechanism were discovered which was to complex to have been assembled by evolution his entire theory would fall apart. Biologists are now confronted with that fact with the flagellum in our cells. If you dont want to believe in God you are more than entitled to. I maintain my viewpoint that you do not want God to exist because that means you would be accountable for your sins, not because of the facts.

  • I have a different logic hear me out. Now if we have sinned down on Earth and all we would have to do is embrace god and ask him for his forgiveness that would make everything ok?? Thats like saying "I killed several people but it's ok I asked god forgiveness"

Asking god forgiveness DOES NOT excuse you, if you ask me that sounds like dangerous thinking!

  • Asking for forgiveness doesnt just mean God will forgive me so I can go kill someone. Paul says in Romans 6:1 "Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound" Jesus said to the adulterous woman in John 8 "Go and sin no more" You are 100% correct in thinking that thinking like that is dangerous because it isnt Biblical!

  • I would refer you to Luke chapter 8 where a woman who was guilty of many sins washed the feet of Jesus. He acknowledged her many sins and said go in peace.

He later told those in attendance that those in extreme debt are more grateful than those of little. This is a parallel to our sins. Those in dire need are saved just as those who are "good".

The blood of Christ covers all.

  • I know who else asks a bunch of questions of doubt! Satan Did!

  • Christ my hero!

  • i love god!!

  • I love bacon, but I don't feel the need to tell everyone.

  • Haha. You just did!

  • loving god is bit different to loving bacon

  • Oh yeah sorry.

Bacon isn't as divisive as your god.

    Except maybe among Jews.

    And Muslims.

    And Hindus.

    Oh and Sikhs.

    And a few others.

I haven't really thought this through.

At least you can't deny bacon exists.

  • Thats right you can't deny bacon exists but those who have experience of god can't deny god either and i think im safe to say i dont think u have but for others who have you do feel the need to tell everyone because its important and close to your heart

  • Jesus, if I'd had an experience with god I'd be on the phone to Newsweek/Time/CNN in no time.

  • because ts a big thing and for those who know and love god its even bigger because its close to your heart

  • People actually know god?

    What's he like?

Is he the homophobic, racist, child killing, murderous, misogynist from his book, or is he on his best behaviour when you actually meet him?

  • yer they do

idk where u got all that from but its not true. hes rle great im gna sound so cheesy saying this but i don care. he helps u through all the hard times, is always there for u, gives great advice, and yer sometimes he has 2 discipline us and it seems stupid at the time but after a while you see for urself it was for the best.

  • Please tell me you're not 13 years old as it states on your profile!

  • yer y?

you don't want to believe that a 13 yr old believes in god and isnt afriad to say so?

  • No, childrens minds are more easily exploited, so obviously you know nothing about your religion other than what you have been told.

    This is religions biggest crime.

I suggest you do a little research.

Don't believe everything you are told.

  • Maybe you should find out your own facts before you insult other peoples beliefs! Yes I have grown up with Christianity all my life but I have also discovered it for myself. God revealed himself to me. I have seen someone being healed in front of me - I have heard God calling me - I have felt his love for myself. No-one told me any of this I saw and experienced it on my own. After all of that I cannot agree when you say I know nothing about my religion.

  • Fair enough.

It's just that you say you don't know about the things I mentioned about your god.

You are a typical good christian.

Pick and choose the bits you want to hear.

I wonder if you'd have seen your healing and heard god calling you if you'd been born in India or some other non-christian country.

Feel free to get back to me when you grow out of it.

  • Maybe I may have been less open to it had I been in a different country but you forget England is fairly non christian itself. I believe we are now referred to as 'multicultural society'. in any case there have been people with no belief in a god of any sort that have heard from him too and responded. believe what you will and feel free to read into tht whatever your closed mind wants to but this is my belief along with loads of others and I would greatly appreciate you stopping insulting it

  • No you would not have been "less open to it" - you wouldn't have been aware of it. You would be a muslim, hindu etc.

    And closed mind? Please.

Most atheists have at some point, usually as a child, had a belief in god. Mainly because as a child you tend to trust what adults tell you.

It's only later that they consider all the facts and deprogramme themselves - which is difficult as it's been a "fact" that has been with you for years.

A closed mind is fundamental to your faith.

  • the first part of whawt you said is exactly my point that some people are unaware of God and the way in which he works but still experience him and go on to become christians. What you're saying about atheists starting out with faith and later discarding it is, in my opinion, temptation from Satan and you giving in to it. It happened to some people I know and I was sad to see it but thay can believe what they want as can you. All I'm asking is for you to stop insuling other people's religion

  • My word, they've trained you well!

A believers arrogance that they are right makes it impossible to have any kind of sensible conversation.

You will not even consider for one moment that you are wrong.

If you check, my initial point was that you lot were being exploited by ruthless record company types packaging this dross for the christian market. Then somehow I got dragged into an argument because everyone got so defensive.

You try and do someone a favour...

  • Would you consider that you are wrong? By your own rationale you fall under being impossible to rationalize with. I dont know why you dont believe in God but it doesn't change the fact that God loves you. Having been a Christian for most of my life and then trying to do things my own way for a time one thing I have come to see. The main reason people dont accept there is a God is because to admit he exists would be to admit you need help and cannot do help yourself. It comes down to pride.

  • Like most children I was (wrongly) taught the bible as history. So at some point in my life I have believed in god. And if there was any shred of evidence that he/she/it existed I would gladly consider it. However, there isn't, and there is more evidence against and that your god is a man made creation.

Does god still love me if I've denied him and his spooky son and the ghost they hang out with? It says in the bible that's "the eternal sin".

Good to see that admission means you need help.

  • Actually the numbers state the exact opposite of what you are saying. An honestly evolution is a religious view from a philosophical standpoint. You do not believe in God therefore you must have an explanation for how things came to be. And maybe if you didnt spend your time mocking Christians and just enjoy them as people you would see them laughing. If i called someone a whore and then said "just kidding" do you think they are going to laugh? I think not.

  • I hope yuo're listening to what JKPhillipians413 is saying here He's completely right on the matter. But if you look back at the point you made that I replied to you would see that you were putting someone else down for saying that they love God. I don't appreciate it, i'm sure they didnt and all I'm saying is you're allowed to believe what you want, so are we and if we want to let the whole world know we can. Not saying YOU cant, just don't argue with others about their beliefs.

  • Something I've noticed is you consider Christian music exploitive. People associate with music because it speaks to what they are feeling. Christian artists do not force their music on their listeners, the listeners come to them becaue they so desire in the same way one may go to an ACDC concert. My appeal to you is stop giving religion a chance because humans will fail you every time, instead give God a chance, He has yet to fail anyone and loves you just the way you are.

  • Thats exactly right I've been tryin to find those words for a while now Thx!

  • "My appeal to you is stop giving religion a chance..."

    I'm years ahead of you.

"give God a chance, He has yet to fail anyone..."

What about the millions of christians who have died from disease, war or famine through no fault of their own?

"Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them." - Romans 16:17

Please do as the man says.

  • You find one place in scripture that says Christians will be spared from the horrors of this world. It says only at the final judgment will those who put their faith in Christ be spared. God isnt a magical wand that we can wave when we want something or when something is going wrong. Christ came to fix the sin problem, not to make our lives easier and im sick of people saying that he came to make us health wealth and happy. For anyone to reduce him to such is blasphemy

  • An all knowing, all powerful, perfectly good god would have seen the future sufferings which humans would endure as a result of the talking snake/Adam/Eve incident. You would think an all-compassionate god would have skipped the creation of man which he knew was doomed to eternal suffering.

Presumably he's not as clever, powerful or nice as he says in his book.

I assume you will come up with some new theological/nonsensical argument a thousand miles removed from the good book to get around this.

  • So apparently you couldnt find a place in the Bible that said Christians wouldnt be spared so you are turning to this argument. And which Bible you read I have no clue, have you taken a look at Revelation? God wins, evil is destroyed, and those who trust in Jesus for their salvation spend eternity with him. Doomed to eternal suffering? Not for those who trusted in Christ.

  • Doesn't it say that 144,000 Jews are going to heaven - the rest of us are screwed.

Mind you, revelation makes the rest of the bible sound almost sensible, so I wouldn't worry too much.

He/she'll probably overlook the fact that you work christianity into your life rather than following it to the letter too.

  • The 144,000 is a symbolic number. There are twelve Jewish tribes and two apostles. 12x12x1000 = 144,000. It is a symbolic reflection that all of those who followed God throughout history are sealed. The Jehovah Witnesses' (a cult) believe this 144,000 to be literal and believe that Jesus already returned. And you are making a lot of assumptions of me based your past experiences with past Christians. Evaluate me on my own merits, not the hypocrisy of others.

  • And therein lies one of the fundamental (pardon the pun) problems.

Symbolic or literal? If one cult interprets it literally and another doesn't who's right?

If you take it as symbolic, but other parts of the bible as literal - how does that work?

And what about the particularly vicious or contradictory sections - do you read those as symbolic, literal or ignore them?

Surely it can't be ignored "See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it." (Deuteronomy 12:32)

  • I lol'd no worries. The most logical way to interpreting books like revelation is when possible, interpret it literally. When literal makes no sense, leave it as symbolic. Jesus gives the same command in Matthew 28 in the Great Commission in obeying all that he commanded us. The easiest way to see who is right is to check what lines up with what Jesus said, that is the litmus test so to speak. Jesus said ALL who call on his name will be saved John 3:16 so Jehovahs witnesses are wrong.

  • Ever considered humanism?

It's a lot nicer than all the other religions put together and there's a lot less cross referencing to do.

And you don't have to listen to 80's AOR with recurring themes.

  • Well I am headed off to Rome for 9 days over spring break, we'll pick up this conversation with ya when I get back. Have a fun break!

  • im back from Rome, woot it was soo much fun. Nah i have never considered humanism. There is no hope in it and no justice. Aside from the fact that it is essentially a form of existentialism in which you become your own god. I dunno, i just choose to hope dude. I refuse to believe that what we see is all there is. And as for the 80's music yea a lot of it is repetitious but there is also a lot of original stuff. You should check out the Newsboys, good group

  • i dont believe in athiests therefore they dont exist! ha ha ha!

  • Note to self:

Add "never met a funny christian" to list of future comments.

  • good try.. it won't work.

  • It usually does.

Mainly because blind faith goes hand in hand with an almost complete rejection of taste in all branches of the arts.

You can mock someone all day about his acceptance of bronze age myths and get nowhere. But point out that the generic, watered down mush he listens to is not only god-awful, but an exploitation of his misguided beliefs and that usually gets a reaction.

Hence my comment having a rating of -4 to date.

  • I think Chris Tomlin has an excellent voice and has very good stage presence - a winning recipe for a performer, Christian or not.

I think your negative rating is referencing your poor taste in choosing something that would be offensive to a particular group of people.

But just as Christians are allowed to voice out their beliefs and populate this site with related music, you are also entitled to your opinion. But it just seems like your sole purpose is to antagonize. Why?

  • He's no better than anything that you might see in a bar any night of the week.

It's very weak pop-rock that wouldn't have sold in any quantity even when that kind of stuff was popular back in the 80's.

However, because of the content of the lyrics he has a captive audience. Change the words and not a single member of that audience would be grinning like an idiot and he wouldn't have a record contract. Easy exploitation of a demographic who have been proven to swallow anything.

  • Yet the lyrics "make" the song, without them the song is meaningless and yes there would be a lack of joy in the faces of the audience. However the lyrics are reflective of the God in which they praise and exalt, thanking and reminding people of God's promises. Glorifying God is the sole reason why a true Christian sings and praises God with his/her lips. I can see why this seemingly "weak pop-rock" song is unappealing to you, for the lyrics and act of worshiping God would not be your cup of tea.

  • AMEN!!:)):D

  • how certain are you of this? do you know Chris Tomlin personally? has God told you that this is what he does? have you previously worked with CT? that's awfully premature for you to say

  • Yup. God came to me in a dream and told me that rock and roll is still the devils music. Always has been. Always will be.

It doesn't matter how you dress it up, Satan is CEO of the great fiery record company and is lining his pockets with your money.

Oh wait. Hang on. Maybe it was Jimi Hendrix who came to me in a dream.

Either way, this music is dross and whatever you pay for it is too much.

  • i know dan carson. i'm in his band that plays at our childrens camp. he's really cool

  • the only thing i dont like about the live version is that i love the intro! haha but this is a great song no matter what. I love Chris Tomlin!
