glad to have grown up and seen that movie in the theaters back then :) along with Stir Crazy and Willie Wonka. :) nothing can match the "Pryor Wilder Duo". Simply the Best.
The song that plays on the radio in this scene was written by Henry Mancini just for the film. It's posted here on YouTube, just search for "Henry Mancini Men's Room Rock".
this could be the funniest bit ever done in the movies...I mean...I saw this in the movies in the 70s...and everyone in the theater was laughing so damn hard....
Richard Pryor & Gene Wilder were a magic comedy team.
You could see they had chemistry together. They had a good run of comedy classic. Guys like these should never die. They never will on films like this one.
This is one of my all-time favorite movies, and this scene is just the best. Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder had such amazing chemistry in this. Thank you for posting!
This is one of my all-time favorite movies, and this scene is just the best. Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder had such amazing chemistry in this. Thank you for posting!
This scene is great one of my favourite comedies, it's a shame in today's day and age with PC. You probably wouldn't get away with doing a scene like this.
this has to be one of the funniest bits ever done.... may i speak...THIS IS CRAZY! or the line..I can never pass for black..andPryor...who ya tellin...lmao...
I laugh until the tears run down my face every time I watch this - probably the funniest scene in film history......The look on Pryor's face when he sees Wilder coming out of the john.........PRICELESS!
@cocosinha C'mon man, get sum jive going, be cool, feelin good, outta sight, Shake it but don't break it, u look sharp, sheit i feel sharp, ya dig, I'm a macaroni. LOL LOL
And another thing, the white guy is the idiot here. I find it offensive that a white guy can be portrayed in this manner. I'm not gonna watch this again... ;)
Pure comedy class. Two of my comedy favourites. The old ones are the best. Rip Richard. This wouldnt be acceptable now! Such a shame our world has gone pc crazy. I dont care I love this scene, its hilarious. Totally fab
It is amazing to have this one scene ( my favourate) on youtube so i can play it over and over again. Gene wilder is so funny and especially with richard pryer. You get to see at 0:52 ( NOTHING!) gene wilder's craziness from willy wonka :P and i love how he looks like a nancyboy on richard pryers neck in the beggining. This scene was ingenious. a 100% white guy ( or clear guy) trying to act black
The first third of the film reminds me of classic Hitchcock like " North by Northwest". Gene Wilder was such a good actor that he could sell all the different elements, from the romance to the intrigue to the physical comedy, and it worked. Because of him you're fully invested in the story. Then Richard shows up and takes the whole shit to another level. These two basically invented the buddy comedy as we know it today, with this film.
i remember watching this a few years ago , this is the part that i remember , i forgot the name of it and went out to buy it and ended up coming home with two of there other films , now i know what its called i can go and get it....PURE CLASS FILM with two of the best comedy actors ive seen
My dad's friend showed this to me when I was a teen. I was so used to watching the likes of Jim Carrey and Will Farrell but I still laughed my ass off when I saw this. Pure genius.
I saw the movie when it came out, around 1977? & thanks to YouTube this scene around 40 times! The 2 were not so friendly in real life.Richard Pryor managed to get married 7 times andbecause of drugs his abuse was there on the surface.Having 5 kidsRainPryor is Jewish.
I'm more offended you referred to us as "coloured" LOL. In all seriousness, given the characters and the situation, it was totally acceptable and hilarious, especially the way Wilder greets Pryor..."sh*t thats my man, thats my main man!", I love that line!
R.P. was in another movie where he play a P.O.W. and was an A.B. RANGER. Its on his purple jacket and he also got a purple heart in the movie. LOL, I JUST GOT THAT WHEN I SAW IT TODAY.
I love this scene...Pryor and Wilder are one of the funniest onscreen duos in movie history...I'm glad that I grew up watching these guys making me laugh!
