I happen to agree with the abolishing of harvesting. It makes sense. In the beginning, Tiberium was exotic and valuable - nobody knew it was so problematic. Now it's a plague and it's everywhere - why would there be any value in harvesting it?

I'm not sure about the top comments here, but I personally think the Generals sub-franchise was a great success - it achieved nearly the same popularity as Red Alert 2 in my country and ended up very memorable. (read as "Every kid can recite V4 Rocket Launcher quotes.") ALTHOUGH, I do agree it's not quite "Command and Conquer" - maybe if it was simply called "Generals"?
I'd love to see the Scrin Invasion that was mentioned in C&C3... Would have made a great in-between game. Keep the mechanics and all... Didn't like C&C4. There's really little excuse for it. I can understand the attempt at innovation, even if it backfired... but the story, the props, production values... etc. It's almost all universally bad and like he said, you had to be online just to play it at all.
But i expect EA not to understand that at all. I expect their non-gamer clueless businessmen to just look at the sales of C&C4 and go "hm, rts games dont sell anymore" and never bother again.

A totally brilliant and awesome way to combine the beloved Tiberium harvesting and a thrilling and completely satisfying ending to C&C 4 is to keep Tiberium ravaging the Earth and Kane finally ascending and reaching the Scrin homeworld with some of his followers (Scrin come in the story) where he could force or make the Scrin to withdraw their forces from Earth and rid our planet from Tiberium thus saving mankind and finally becoming a hero to all.
Yes, I dare to admit it, I was a supporter of the decision to terminate Tiberium harvesting for the shake of the story and the fiction, but to forget key characters like LEGION and the Scrin, this is too much. You can bid farewell to yet another fan.

in inception theres a part where he's being chased near the beginning in new mumbasa and he hides in a cafe and the owner/waiter goes mental at him in his own dialect i want to see a translation of that, because it would be funny if it was all anti white slur (im white) telling him his kind aint allowed in the cafe
I like that scrin are not there, they sucked, but failure of invasion could have been explained. Gameplay in C and C4 could have been let me say gathering resources from the pumping stations at least, or If they could make at least basic bases: let me say some platforms to drop ground units and some basic defences building possibility, this game would be at least mediocre or even better. Ending of kane dissapearing could have been made better, but it is not worst aspect of the game.
Thank god there is still Tiberian Sun and RA2. Everything before that was the most EPIC, everything after was dirty and EA puke...it is a shame. I wish we did have Westwood bacck!
If there would be a 5º Command & Conquer, chances are that it will be very good because every "even" C&C is bad (2º and 4º) as the "odd" is oustanding (1º and 3º). So now is hoping that in the 5º C&C, Kane returns as the leader of the Scrin (Muahahaha)...

EA really screwed us over with this game... I played the NOD campaign... got bored, and I never reinstalled it. I wish EA would give everyone displeased with the game, a complete refund. The game sucked SO BAD.

Alexa(or whatever) trys to destroy him by giving him a virus because CABAL killed her family and she doesn't want it to happen again. It's obvious that the original idea of Kane has nothing to do with this pseudo alien from Tiberian Sun and onwards. In my eyes there never was a true sequel to Tiberian Dawn. It was NATO versus terroristic sect lead by an evil genius. They should've sticked to it or at least kept that style.
Unfortunately nearly all the rants about EA are correct. EA is nothing but a corporation monster funding the games. This does not mean they give the production enough times or resources and works both ways. It drives the competition off markets because they can't compete with EA's bought reviews and marketing, meaning we lose a lot more good games than we gain.
And when it all boils down to it, EA isn't responsible for the good games. Their bought pets are.
EA Games ruins every game company they buy, this is another example, think back around 10 years and remember the fucking awesome Dungeon Keeper, EA bought the company, and never made a part 3...

Speaking of that, if you hate C&C4 so much, you got to love its replacement, the Tiberian Eclipse RTS mod, a total replacement which will give us the biggest bang we deserve which EA failed to deliver. Go and support that mod, help them too!
I appreciate that those games tried to be traditonal RTS games, had the basebuilding and tiberium harvesting...but if you want to make traditional RTS, then you should also make it as great as possible, like Blizzard is doing. C&C 3 was just good at it's best, not great. Games like Dawn of War, Original Supreme Commander and World in Conflict for example have done much better took place as kings of RTS, while C&C kind of faded away as the time passed. Still I'm going to get and play RA3 and C&C4

EA didn't ruin the series. C&C 3 is a great game. What ruined C&C 4 was simply, like Hitler said, how they abandoned the base building and made the game an isometric FPS game. Along with other small flaws, but they could be endured well if C&C 4 was like C&C 3 with base building and Scrin.
@Kuhlfurst Well I just finished Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath...not bad games, but not nearly as good as Tiberian Sun and especially Tiberian Dawn. There is just something that isnt there...one thing is the live action cutscenes that are not that great, the endings are quite lame, and overall they are not as fun to play as C&C games made by Westwood. Halfway trough the Kane's Wrath, I just switched to normal difficulty, cause I just wanted to finish the game quickly as possible.
@Balnazzardi I've been playing Tiberian Dawn for now and I do enjoy it. I started doing Tiberian Sun too but I found it less entertaining. The movies are awesome, and there is more units and buildings than in Dawn. But the missions feel extremely linear. I always boost game speed to maxinum because I want them to be over fast. Also the only thing to make them last seems to be making them annoyingly difficult.
c&c 4 is a disgusting insult, i´am a c&c fan since the first game came out and expected an epic ending but instead i got this, í´am so angry that i wasted money on this and angry with EA for ruining everything, i can´t even get my money back because in the shop where i bought it "disliking" is not a reason for reclamation and because of the DRM bs it´s even impossible to sell it second hand, thx EA, thx for ruining c&c and thx for DRM and thx to my game shop for treating customers like dirt
Ay-freekin-men! Westwood would not have fuked up the finale to the gratest and most reknowned RTS game to ever exsist, but then, it was their baby. Pissing EA running around eating up all the little publishers and ruining great works that were created, i would laugh my arse of if they went bankrupt or something.
Bioshock was made by 2K (who aren't owned by EA, fortunately). Pandemic made Battlefront 1 & 2, and the Mercenaries games. Sucks that they got shut down. I was hoping they'd take over making Battlefront 3 after Free Radical went under.
4. the story is complete s. but has nothing to do with the rest; is not an epic ending, in fact is not an ending at all... this game was supposed to be the end of Kane and has nothing to do with Scrin and GDI
all in all: the MCV idea and makes the whole gameplay better (except the tiberium part); everything else is s. (including the game's name)

2. harvesting tiberium was becoming old but is better than harvesting tehnologies; as on the harvester you didn't have to tell him: harvest tiberium, come back, unload, go back, which makes you lose focus from the battle

A totally brilliant and awesome way to combine the beloved Tiberium harvesting and a thrilling and completely satisfying ending to C&C 4 is to keep Tiberium ravaging the Earth and Kane finally ascending and reaching the Scrin homeworld with some of his followers (Scrin come in the story) where he could force or make the Scrin to withdraw their forces from Earth and rid our planet from Tiberium thus saving mankind and finally becoming a hero to all.

All they need to do is pretend all of C&C4 was just Kane's bad acid trip and it never actually happened. Then they'd have a chance to make it right with C&C5. Then again I'm sure EA would screw that up too...

I like that scrin are not there, they sucked, but failure of invasion could have been explained. Gameplay in C and C4 could have been let me say gathering resources from the pumping stations at least, or If they could make at least basic bases: let me say some platforms to drop ground units and some basic defences building possibility, this game would be at least mediocre or even better. Ending of kane dissapearing could have been made better, but it is not worst aspect of the game.

Thank god there is still Tiberian Sun and RA2. Everything before that was the most EPIC, everything after was dirty and EA puke...it is a shame. I wish we did have Westwood bacck!

If there would be a 5º Command & Conquer, chances are that it will be very good because every "even" C&C is bad (2º and 4º) as the "odd" is oustanding (1º and 3º). So now is hoping that in the 5º C&C, Kane returns as the leader of the Scrin (Muahahaha)...

@neto592 oh no. 4 was shit. 2 was not. i can not say for sure which i think is better right now C&C1 or C&C2 but for sure TS was better than TW and C&C4. but C&C3 was good and i can touch the case and play it still but not the so called "C&C4" to me it can't even be called a C&C game and i will not even touch the case to that game now.

EA really screwed us over with this game... I played the NOD campaign... got bored, and I never reinstalled it. I wish EA would give everyone displeased with the game, a complete refund. The game sucked SO BAD.
THE ONLY good thing about it, was the music. The music was pretty epic... too bad it was played to such a crappy ass game.

Hitler's rant is utterly and completely true. I was a beta tester and they listened to dick all any of us said. They had a suggestions forum, not one word of it was used, there was no point of it even being there. We begged and pleaded for changes to at least make what they were planning a little less suck ass. I actually thought there was going to be a REAL level up system that let you CHOOSE what units and improvements you got..outta space

@Holiday84k What do you not understand. He makes a robot called legion from the remants of CABAL towards the end of the 2nd tiberium war. Alexa(or whatever) trys to destroy him by giving him a virus because CABAL killed her family and she doesn't want it to happen again. He sleeps for 20 years(or so) years after the 3rd war, when NOD loses. They then steal the tacticus then that is it. Simples*meerkat noise*

But seriously: Already Tiberian Sun couldn't keep up with the awesome scenario of the first game - the truth is that Westwood already screwed up. It's obvious that the original idea of Kane has nothing to do with this pseudo alien from Tiberian Sun and onwards. In my eyes there never was a true sequel to Tiberian Dawn. It was NATO versus terroristic sect lead by an evil genius. They should've sticked to it or at least kept that style.

Unfortunately nearly all the rants about EA are correct. EA is nothing but a corporation monster funding the games. This does not mean they give the production enough times or resources and works both ways. It drives the competition off markets because they can't compete with EA's bought reviews and marketing, meaning we lose a lot more good games than we gain.
And when it all boils down to it, EA isn't responsible for the good games. Their bought pets are.
EA is a plague, unfortunately.

I agree, C&C is dead. BUT it's not officially dead yet, guys. EA is still running it, especially they hire in Jon Van Caneghem to manage the franchise! BURY the franchise already, dammit!
Speaking of that, if you hate C&C4 so much, you got to love its replacement, the Tiberian Eclipse RTS mod, a total replacement which will give us the biggest bang we deserve which EA failed to deliver. Go and support that mod, help them too!

I appreciate that those games tried to be traditonal RTS games, had the basebuilding and tiberium harvesting...but if you want to make traditional RTS, then you should also make it as great as possible, like Blizzard is doing. C&C 3 was just good at it's best, not great. Games like Dawn of War, Original Supreme Commander and World in Conflict for example have done much better took place as kings of RTS, while C&C kind of faded away as the time passed. Still I'm going to get and play RA3 and C&C4

EA didn't ruin the series. C&C 3 is a great game. What ruined C&C 4 was simply, like Hitler said, how they abandoned the base building and made the game an isometric FPS game. Along with other small flaws, but they could be endured well if C&C 4 was like C&C 3 with base building and Scrin.

@Kuhlfurst Well I just finished Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath...not bad games, but not nearly as good as Tiberian Sun and especially Tiberian Dawn. There is just something that isnt there...one thing is the live action cutscenes that are not that great, the endings are quite lame, and overall they are not as fun to play as C&C games made by Westwood. Halfway trough the Kane's Wrath, I just switched to normal difficulty, cause I just wanted to finish the game quickly as possible.

@Balnazzardi I've been playing Tiberian Dawn for now and I do enjoy it. I started doing Tiberian Sun too but I found it less entertaining. The movies are awesome, and there is more units and buildings than in Dawn. But the missions feel extremely linear. I always boost game speed to maxinum because I want them to be over fast. Also the only thing to make them last seems to be making them annoyingly difficult.

Bioshock was made by 2K (who aren't owned by EA, fortunately). Pandemic made Battlefront 1 & 2, and the Mercenaries games. Sucks that they got shut down. I was hoping they'd take over making Battlefront 3 after Free Radical went under.

4. the story is complete s. but has nothing to do with the rest; is not an epic ending, in fact is not an ending at all... this game was supposed to be the end of Kane and has nothing to do with Scrin and GDI
all in all: the MCV idea and makes the whole gameplay better (except the tiberium part); everything else is s. (including the game's name)

Dude, C&C 4 is great as a game idea:
1. is unique, not the same; if you liked the games before, you can play them why did you need another clone?
2. harvesting tiberium was becoming old but is better than harvesting tehnologies; as on the harvester you didn't have to tell him: harvest tiberium, come back, unload, go back, which makes you lose focus from the battle
3. DRM is bulls. but is not EA; this is the new game trend
