  • This sounds a lot like Saigal. It was Mukesh imitating him. C H Atma tried to imitate Saigal. I still have the Long Play Record(33 1/3 RPM) of this song.

  • This was Mukeshji's first film song and was also the last he sung on stage on US tour.A great singer who held his own and grew to develop his own style. While it looks very simple when he sings when u try it is very hard. That is his greatness. He still lives through his songs.Aptly Rjakapoor said on Mukesh's demise he had lost his voice.

  • one of the best song ever sung bye a singer in india

i think that even when there are no humans left living in this world this song will stiil exist

  • Mukesh's break came through Ashok Gosh in Nirdosh, then Anil Biswas gave him this immortal song in Great K.L.Sehgal's style. It was AB who took Mukesh ji under his wingsm advising him why he ought to stop singing like KLS clone, showed him how to come out of KLS mould & sing in his own style.Mukesh ji understood & rest is history.

  • Mukeshji is in Saigals shoes in this greatest song by him and he became an accomplished singer with this song and got recognition. The song had great depth , sorrow and pain and even to day this is still fresh and feel like crying. one must listen to this song in Darkness of night in silence.A very great performance by the immortal singer Mukeshji. With sucjh songs he is still amongst us and still alive.

  • This film was made in 1945, There was no Pakistan we were all called indians.. shit!

  • At first I thought Saigal sang this. Wonderful song. Manmohan Sing and Sonia Gandhi appointed Kalmadi to loot for them as well. This is why they were not taking action against Kalmadi even after accusations against him

  • thanks for posting this song

  • i am only 21 and I still LOVE this .....kya depth hai bandey ki awaaz mein.

  • @hdeeplive YOU MUST LISTEN TO HIS SONGS,indeed they will touch your heart, and you will keep on crying, because they will give you happiness.

  • i am a great fan of mukesh saab.unki awaz mein itni kashish hai ki jab bhi unki awaz kaNO main padti hai to dil khush ho jata hai

  • Immortal song of Mukesh, his first superhit song salute to the greatest singer of the bollywood on his birthdday.............

  • mukesh saab was such a very bag fan of K. L. Saigal that in his early years of playback singing he used to imitate his idol. In fact, it is said that when K. L. Saigal first heard the song Dil jalta hai to jalne de, he remarked, "That's strange, I don't recall singing that song". :)

Mukesh saab aap ka koi saani nhi hai..

    we will miss u.. :(

  • Bahut hi umda geet,Mukesh ji ne is geet ke zariye Sehgal saab ki rooh ko zinda o javed kar diya.

  • one of greatest song of mukesh carrier.som koli from mumbai

  • my dad sings this song for me when ever i weep and then i smile

  • wah wah- an immortal composition and equally sang with melody and life by Mukeshda.-- Rp Hyderabadi.

  • talent cannot be measured, immortal singerMukesh saab ka e gana hamesha number one gaana hai Rahega. RP Hyderabadi

  • Beautifully sung. Mukesh's tribute to Saigal. Those low notes Mukesh hits in this song are just amazing - everyone loves Mukesh, even Rafi and Kishore armies who are constantly quarreling love Mukesh and have no problems with him! LOL!

  • My dad used to listen to this song when I was 7-8 . I didn't realise that this song is so old. Just fabulous song.

  • Indeed its very nice song. Was this Mukesh,s 1st song?

  • yeh log sacchi ke bhagwaan hai, aisa lagta hai koi hath se dil ko masal raha hai, bismillah

  • Thanks a ton for sharing! Please, please upload Roshan Ara Begum's "Le Gaye Pehlu Se Chori Chori" from the same film.

  • Long back, Manohar Mahajan of Radio cylone told , that , Anil Biswas assured, Mazahar khan ( who objected this song ), the film will be released only in one theater, and if this song is not accepted by audiens, it may be removed from the film. Later it proved except this song no body is in the memories of public-Arani Apparao-Hyderabad.(A.P.)

  • Anil Biswas brought Mukesh to limelight by this immortal melody. The master composer understood deeply the capability of the singer-in-making known as Mukesh Chand Mathur and a close associate of the legendary actor- Motilal.

  • dil jalta haaaaaaaaaaaaai to jalnay deeeeeeeeeeeee

    amazing great mukesh......................................

    i miss u .............

i ever u come in my dream i will tell u that todays singers have made the fun of music.............some one singing with nose....... and some one withering it with adding pros pictures..............

  • Wow what a heart touching song of old golden era

  • Iam kirti khanna Let me tell you one more thing about this song .When k.l.sehgal sahib heard this song He said i dont remeber when I sang this song wha wha wha .this was the best tribute any body body could get from sehgal sahib .

    ilove mukesh sahib

  • dil ko jala gaya mukesh tera yeh jalta hua dillllllllllllllllll

    wah....

  • well my board result is soon going to come and just now i'm feeling the same

  • this is very good song i like thinks. nasim khan qatar

  • Real Life Emotions

  • sounds almost exactly like saigal sahib. amazing!

  • wonder ful song

  • no words speechless

  • Bismil = Wounded in Urdu. I dont know what it would mean in Hindi. But it is no cat. When a hunter injurs a game- the injured bird is bismil as it fights for life.

  • SPEECHLESS..................

  • Besmil means the beheaded ghobani ship goat or chickens when ther are to be cut have to receive bismellah and so simply it is called bismel so when you are already hurt so deep he asks do not make more or what else you can add to my pains.

  • waaaaaaaaaaaaah zabardast,

thanks a lot for the wonderful upload.

ever soothing voice of the great Mukesh jii.

    awsome.

  • bismil means zakhmi not billi u stupid

  • As told by Manohar Mahajan ( Radio Cylon ) It is Mothilall ( who brought mukhesh from delhi) told to remove this song if it fails , and was released , later it was a history. To day No body knows the names of those who objected-Arani Apparao-Hyd(A.P.)

  • Bismil mens " The wounded one means .the poet is alrady had enjeries and do not add more pain

  • bismil means half way in blood, any living thing being in that condition is called bismel. masoom nazar ke teer will result in that condition

  • what is the meaning of bismil ko aur bismil na banaa?

  • @barcfrdpp it means dont kill anyone who is already dead {Bismil means a bird that is being sacrificed}

  • bismil means I think is billi (Cat)

Making a cat out of a cat, literally!

  • @Bushrraff bismil means "lover" and not cat. Thus bismil ko bismil aur na banaa means dont make me fall deeper in love with you.

  • bismil means Wounded

  • bismil is a person or an animal half way wounded and in blood not some billi cat as our friend says. Look at the root of the word it comes from arabic/farsi word. I has been a long time for me not speaking farsi anymore but I remember bismel refers to any living thing bleeding badly. You can understand that from the contents of the poem as well when it say masoom nazar ke teer chala , bismil ko aur bismel banaa.

  • bismil means wounded.

'Bismil of aur bismil na bana' means that please do not cause more wounds on the wounded.

  • I always thought this to be a Song from KL Saigal. Mukesh did not try to just imitate Saigal Saab but showed the same extent of emotions that Saigal saab would have bought if he would have sung this song. Hats off Mukesh and hats off to saigal saab.

  • what a song and Mukesh did well,

One of the immortal song sung by Mukesh.

  • " The pain of having a broken heart is not so much as to kill you, yet not so little as to let you live."

  • Magnificent.

  • Please someone put the song "Zindagi Khwab Hai Tha Humen Bhi Pata, Par Humen Zindagi Se Bahut Pyar Tha", from Film "Chhoti Chhoti Baatein". It is a tribute to Motilal, Mukesh, and Shailendra.

    Thanks.

  • Thanks.

  • The immortal Mukesh has given a number of great musical gifts to the world which it will cherish for eternity, however, this remains the best song ever.

  • i am inordant fan of mukesh the legend. i am only 36 but i was really helped by this legendary singers voice and songs to comeout of all odds. really a great source of inspiration. by the way my father was not born by the time this song was recorded.

  • this is the first filmy song by Mukesh Chand Mathur , the man from old dilli, studied at school at mandir marg delhi

  • Mukesh was indeed a great singer. Too bad he died rather young at the age of about 53. Good music and singers like Mukesh and others, find their admirers regardless of their ages. I am a bit older than you (by about 18 years), and I like even older songs than this and older singers like K.L. Saigal, Khursheed Bano, Shamshad Begum, Kanan Devi, Zohra Bai ete. Mostly because I watched my father listening to these singers. I am glad you appriciate the talent and art that Mukesh represented.

  • superb immortal song

  • kyun pardah nasheen ka aashiq hai

    yun naam-e-wafa berbaad na ker

  • beautiful

  • beautiful lovely song sent by my best friend from overseas.god bless him

  • awesome !

  • Did you know this is sung by Mukesh and not K L Sehgal. Mukesh was asked to sing in Sehgal's voice before he resumed singing with his voice (he also tried acting but did not succeed! )

  • Beautiful romantic old song.....! This is the song I serenaded my sweetheart with, 30 years ago (I married her & still remain married, masha-allah)

    Thank you for uploading it......

  • are you serious?you sereneded her with..dil jalta hai to jalne de,and she agreed to marry you?anyway, hope you two are very happy healthy.

  • This one of my favorite and which I used to sing during my school days 63-64, now the time has come again to sing and upload this. Will do. Surely.

    Thanks for reminding.

    Thanks of upload.

    Regards

  • a fine song indeed

  • wow this is sensational

  • aweummm.... mann.... nothin better than this!!

  • Khemchandra Prakash forcefully insisted Kishore to sing "Marne Ki duayein Kyun Mangoon" like a clone of saigal,,,,, I think that was the first and last time Kishore sounded like a "clone" of Saigal, otherwise he was always "influenced" by Saigal throughout his career

  • Wow! what the collection you have? Thanks for provide us that type of golden songs.

  • Mukesh was only 16 when he recorded this song!

  • Can you believe this is Motilal in the movie. Who is the actress?

  • The actress is Veena (I think).

  • No it is Munavvar Sultana!

  • thanks...

  • I love this old song so much and I don't know how to thank you. Thank you very very much for sharing it with all of us. Thanks a lot.

  • mukesh sahab ki kya baat hai janab.

  • Mukesh started his career trying to immitate K.L. Saigal, but then Moti Lal, the great actor, who introduced Mukesh to Bollywood insised that Mukesh find his own voice rather than immitating someone else. The rest is history....

  • Thanks for posting this rare and beautiful number

  • Not only Mukesh but Kishore Kumar also tried to copy K. L. Saigal's voice in their earlier days. Khemchand Prakash (music director for Film Mahal) advised Mukesh not to copy Saigal, but to develop his own style if he wants to become a good singer. Mukesh followed his advice and did become a great singer

  • my special thanks to M M VIDEO of pakistan for preserving such priceless gems of indian old films.they have done a wonderful work in this field. thanks, mr. uploader.

  • Thank you for sharing this treasured Mukesh

    song/videoclip

  • Glad to see these old masterpieces being shared by music lovers alike.

Hope to see the society gradually slide toward these quality type tunes than what we have today!

    Thankls for the upload

  • words cannot express my thanks to you for uploading this song

  • legendry voice,what a upload.keep up the great work.

  • notice how similiar Mukesh 's early style is to that of KL Saigal who was top gun then....it was later that Mukesh developed his own style..Right Any comment?

  • I agree.. not only KLS, it was common for singers (even male) to be kinda nasal in those days. This trend is also seen with Talat Mehmood and among females with Shamshad begum and the earlier songs by Lata mangeshkar..

  • Right. I have read somewhere that Mukesh practised on this song for six months in order to bring back the voice of KL Saigal after Saigal's death. Thus he brought this immortal and timeless song.

    Thanks Musique4ever for posting it.

  • As per wikipedia on the internet, this song was recorded in 1945. K L Saigal died in Jan 1947. It has also been mentioned that once Saigal quoted that he was surprised that he could not remember when he actually recorded this song, such was the voice quality of the legendary singer, MUKESH!

  • Very nice thank you for posting :) keep posting

  • man, mukesh's voice just tears into my heart and tears it apart...

  • Very true. I totally agree with you. Mukesh at his best.
