yep, that most certainly is a young Jerome John "Jerry" Garcia at the 12 second mark of this Nixon campaign ad. This was before he started wearing glasses and grew the beard that he was famous for in his later years. i can only assume that this was yet another of Tricky Dick's dirty tricks, and that his campaign did not ask Jerry's permission to use his picture in this ad.
Because i really can't imagine Jerry Garcia agreeing to appear in a Nixon for President ad.
I have lived through eight presidential administrations in my lifetime. five republicans and three democrats. All this time Ive watched this country sink further and further down the tubes. One party blames the other and vice versa. What amazes me is that anyone even listen to any of these knobs anymore. Bottom line. They are ALL crooks! We need a revolution.
GreenOnions1967: OK, who's going to lead your revolution? Then, if your revolution succeeds, who's going to rule over you? Different politicians, different crooks, worse than before? You're a cynic and haven't thought it through.
This commercial was right in that the kids who didn't protest were actually in the majority-this was the "Silent majority" that helped Nixon get re-elected by a landslide four years later.
@WestVirginiaRebel In 1968 only if you were 21 or order you could had voted for Nixon and 4 years later the voting age was reduced to 18. That is how in 1972 did Richard Nixon get his landlide. Actually it was where McGovern wanted to legalise everything from prostitution to hard core drugs did Richard Nixon get his re election.
@v19d Yeah. McGovern wasn't even competition. He was the voice of thousands of young people, most not even old enough to vote. It's like the 2008 election...
How ironic to see Garcia in a campaign ad for, of all people, Nixon. Fucking prick started the drug war. Garcia should have sued.

At :37, there's a kid with a baseball cap. Note the backward "N." The film editor obviously was asleep at the switch, but it got through, obviously.

What do you suggest?
Communism?
I agree, we do indeed need a revolution.
The problem is any goverment has its flaws, with communism, Stalin ruined it.
Capitalism, I don't need to say it.

@v19d Nixon didn't get the young vote in '72... He got his "Silent Supporters" ie. every white person over 30
