I want to get back to the med practice zazen again. I'm a 50 dude now and i did practice regularly for 2 years when i was 28. I started again a few weeks ago doing 20 minutes here and there but my dreams are freaky. I was very surprised at how my last dream was so vivid last night, usually it's not. I guess my med practice is giving me a reacting vibe that i feel is trying to discourage me from starting again. It's like my ego/self is saying forget about it, don't go there.
@beaudashing The best thing is to simply continue the practice - dreams are illusions, as are passing thoughts and so on. The benefits gained from a steady meditation practice far out weigh any mild discomfort, and eventually all forms of discomfort (especially in moment to moment living) become utter non-issues. You become calm and peaceful in your thoughts and interactions with others - it's great!
Yes, I believe the west will make men and women in equal standing in the sangha and probably also do away with much of the cultural taboos that crept into the monastic life throughout the centuries.
This man's life is a true inspiration - the path he has found and followed is the self-same path I myself wish to pursue.
Blessings!
