I have always said a prisoner is still a human being. We all make mistakes. Some of the offenders come from terrible homes. USA stop arresting people for drugs and prostitution. These are victimless crimes. Take people off horrible death row. Too many blacks in jail. Send them to Africa, we will gladly take back our brothers and treat them kindly, not treat them like shackled animals. Too many hispanics in jail too. Too many repeat offenders. We need serious reform. Spend more on education.

All of them said it was NOT a punishment at all and repeated the same crime they went to jail for later. The system care more for the bad guys than the victims - anyone who has been involved in a crime knows that for sure!

@1337manz Tenk på dette her; vi har lave strafferammer. Det vil si at de skal ut i samfunnet igjen. Vil du at en som kan sitte ved siden av deg på bussen skal ha en høgskoleutdanning og mer eller mindre normal, og fungere i samfunnet, eller vil du at den personen skal være mentalt skadet og kan eksplodere når som helst? Det går an å bruke 2 min. på å synse og komme fram til et rasjonelt svar! Om en eks-fange får utdannning etc. og en bra jobb, vil han jo måtte betale skatt = penger tilbake.

really? im from latvia but i thought most of criminals there are from poland (simply because their the most in count as immigrants) and from negro and sand negro countries(because of medieval ''cultures''). allthough id rather have poles than negros and sand negros in any case criminals or not. and stop blaming baltic or whatever people as such its your corrupt government that makes decisions to import migrants not us. also i personally am against any huge migrations they only create problems.

1. Perhaps you simply don't like the truth? An overwhelming amount of Romanian visitors are not here as tourists or workers. We're talking about Roma (gypsies).
2. Official statistics from Statistics Norway (Gov't dept.) show 60% of the people in Norwegian prisons are foreigners. In Halden prison it's 70%, they're awaiting repatriation.

4. My government? It fights for the same wages for all workers in Norway regardless of citizenship! In fact the labor unions in Norway are unique in their fight to recruit foreigners and make sure they get the same wages! No "extremely low wages" here!
Furthermore they are not doing "dangerous" work, they're in construction for the most part! They are looked after like everyone else.

1. From my experience, most Northern jobs we get are in fishing or sea exploitation (on the nordic sea or Norwegian - a body of water renowned for it calmness). Even the Student Work and travel programs have most of their Norway bound contracts in this area.
2. I know it's difficult for you to understand what it's like to be frozen in history by 50 years of communist regime but just because you've had this time to improve yourselves, it's no reason to look down on eastern eu members.

@Slurfs I do know people who have gone to prison and they did not laugh at the experience. I don't know what prison your friends are going to but my friends said it was fucking horrible. Federal prison in the United States isn't something to Laugh at. I would much rather go to this one, and I also think they should implement this here in the US.

@Slurfs So how come the rate of re offending is 20% in Norway, while in the USA, UK etc it's 50/60%? Sure, it might look unneccesarily cosy here, but remember that the prison system in Norway is designed to rehabilitate (that is, cure) prisoners of their tendencies, not get revenge on them.
It works, and I wish more countries had systems like this.

@bearchildofdeath Well... do you know anyone who have been in prison? I know a few and they laughed of the entire experience. All of them said it was NOT a punishment at all and repeated the same crime they went to jail for later. The only reason it's 20% is that most criminals don't do the same mistake twice and the police is not effective enough to catch them twice either. The system care more for the bad guys than the victims - anyone who has been involved in a crime knows that for sure!

You're our biggest source of criminals at the moment, honest to God! It's too bad, it labels Romanians as "bad people" in general here.
