@RoaR3000 Technically "grunge" is just a lump genre for 90s music. If you ask the bands, they had completely different opinions. Nirvana thought they were punk, and Alice in Chains considered themselves heavy metal. Oh, yeah, not to mention the fact that people like Kurt and Shannon were able to touch a generation of young people that felt disillusioned, abandoned, and dispossessed. Not to mention that the riffs, vocals, and drums were off the fucking hook.
@RoaR3000 Wow you are Full of Shit, just for your information not all 90s band were Grunge, Blind Melon obviously was not a Grunge band, how could you put blind melon on a grunge genre after listen to this song?? Blind Melon was different than anything else going on that time.
@SOB90 Try Reading My MULTIPLE POSTS before getting all prophetic
I said this 3 MONTHS ago, that wasn't clear enough for you!?!?..."Technically" i was JOKING/Being SARCASTIC...Thanks for the "History Lesson" in what i already know and lived through once...you saved the day ;-)"
And Beyong that,My FIRST Post ,What from the 3rd person prospective of an older generation who were responsible for the lumping together, and writing off of talents...Of which i was pointing out, sorry it flew over head.
@RoaR3000 Well I am sorry, I did not get your sarcasm but now I get it, I am a huge Blind Melon fan, and when I saw that post saying Grunge bands had nothing to offer to the world, I was kind of upset to read that, anyway I am sorry dude and I am happy to hear that you are one of ours! take care.
@SOB90 Just remember,The reason these video's are here are for those who like them,to enjoy them, and the comments section is largely completely useless, weather Opinions are shared,Or they differ,it does nothing to ever change what that video represents ;-)...For your self to smile, and not fight... And yes, text can be rough to detect vocal inflection or sarcasm, but that is why they both had quotations around the 'offending' language,LOL...
as his loving arms unfolds me he will leave me not alone I have his grandmas preyer on my left arm as well , thanks Shannon , words to live by............
Can you show me a toxicology report? Every news site cites it as a cocaine over does. If you ask the band members he had kicked the heroine or at least gotten away from it. Cocaine was his demon.
You don't have to believe me but the proof is out there.
I know the news sites say it was cocaine, because the reason for death was stated as a cocaine overdose, they could have easily overlooked the heroin. And if you look at the performances leading up to his death, and know a heroin user, maybe you'd see what I see.
No hate, just stating what i believe from what I've seen already.
actually. I was at the final show in Houston that night and he was not there and completely had something else on his mind and way to pre- occupied. The smack can get you through a show AND an encore. He didn't want to be out there any longer than he had to. Plus we got some of the same stuff he probably got that day. It was the most traumatizing cocaine ever. Their was some weird stuff in town that weekend. He was ready to go by the third song and go he did.
You know, cocaine CAN stop your heart and that's exactly what it did to him. Whether or not you know how a heroin user looks, acts or whatever. It is possible that the reports and his bandmates are correct. Considering that a toxicologist does specialize in this, I think they would know what they found in his system. There would be no reason to deny that it was a heroin overdose.
Well...I thought you would have seen I spelled abyss wrong in my own username...but you took the "anal" route. Wonder what is one your mind.
Anyway!! This is suppose to be about Blind Melon.
Shannon was an amazing artist with an even more amazing drug problem. That is all I was saying. Kurt was a bitch for the same reason. Doesn't mean I don't admire these guys.
Why else would I keep coming back to listen to this song?!?
Seriously though, anyone who chooses cocaine over their new born baby has some issues. I wasn't judging dear Cheezus. From a psychological view it is called analyzing. That is what makes Hoon so interesting. As the band progresses into fame, Hoon's addiction becomes more obvious. Why?
Did anyone actually listen to his lyrics, understand them, relate to them, and apply them to understanding the world?
shit son, sorry for the bad spelling... as if it really matter. I'm french maybe that could explain. but whatever.
I don't think Hoon choosed cocain over his kid, he was already using before that..
And I have the slight impression that hoping somebody should feels like an asshole ins't exactly the right definition of analizing... even thought "analizing" clearly begins with the word "anal", witch might be the source of your confusion lol
WOW! When the guy says, "You've got kids to raise now." Watch Shannon's facial expression and how much more shakey his voice gets. I hope he felt like an asshole. And I'm only saying that b/c the drugs he took was bringing out the ass in him.
I honestly never red a coment whos writter deserved more to get his ass kicked than this one here written by you... I can't even put into words how much of piece of shit you are. You can't judge people like that based on an interview.
I passed by on my way from work that night. I knew I wouldn't be able to see because of all the people, So I went home to watch it on T.V. Shannon died a month after this taping. I wish I had stopped. Cobain, Shannon Hoon, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., and all of the brilliant artists of the past that never made it past 28 years old; It really seemed like our generation was robbed of all of its idols.
i dont even call his band alice in chains anymore just isnt the same without him god i wish music would go back to being about talent and not how pretty your ace is
2:59 and on is my favorite part. It was all or nothing with Shannon. (unfortunately that applied to everything). There was mellow, it was crazy Energy or bust.
So what if he was stoned??? I bet he'd take that back now if he could to see his daughter grow... So back the f*ck off!!! Besides he came out with better sh*t stoned than YOU ever could sober! so HA. RIP SHANNON!! :)
how many bands can have this much complexity, and go so many places musically with so much brevity. beatles, radiohead, sonic youth, maybe pearl jam, but i don't know if anyone does it better than blind melon. this is my favorite blind melon song besides st. andrew's fall/hall
Written by Shannon in response to Susan Smith drowning her son's buckled in their carseats and drowning then them in the car in a lake, God's Presents was written by his grandmother which he has tattooed on his right inner forearm.
awesome!I just love to listen to him in the interview...and Carseat/God´s presents is a very special song,I always loved it...love you,Shannon.you´re my very special one!

It was the cocaine, thats what killed him.

It was actually a speedball, he was a known cocaine AND heroin user. Cocaine is not hard to beat.
So unless you show me the toxicology report saying there was no heroin involved then I'll believe that.
