  • geese how hard doo u dig in omg

  • thanks, I am currently at a half inch. my body weight is probably more towards the middle than rear of skate, so I will give it a try and see. close on the inside edges, but have a texas mile to traverse to find the outside edge. which is why your circuit drill was appealing.

  • tried this edge drill at the rink today. beginner skater, so have some work to do. my skates seemed to slide out on me, and i was not getting that crunch sound of the blade of the ice biting the ice to give the edge. question, what type of blade cut would you recommend for a beginner skater, 200 plus pounds. 3/8" 7/16" 1/2"? not looking for speed, just trying to replicate what you are doing. appreciate the vids - great job

  • @croppd usually when the blade is sliding, it is from one of two things. first - it could be from having a bad edge (ie - nicks in the blade) second - it could be from not having the weight far enough toward the heel of the skate. if the weight is shifted to the middle of the blade, you will usually slide. In regards to what radius to use, 3/8" is pretty standard for beginners - it makes it easier to control the edge....1/2" is what I use, but it takes more experience to control

  • I never realized that the outside edge drill required such a deep crossover (or any at all)! No wonder I have so much trouble with it!

  • if i keep doing these drills with ankle weights will it help me with edges?

  • @nathanpoon in my opinion, ankle weights are a mixed bag. They certainly can help you develop ankle strength, which will help you with your edgework. I've seen some ankle weights people use which actually inhibit proper movement of the ankle - these types are best to be avoided.

  • It's all about mastering the edges.

    I'm halfway there lol

  • good stuff.... I subed ;) keep em coming :)

  • :) best drills man. Im gonna master all if these

  • Great drill, thanks!
