  • The data acquisition system can make the time-of-flight measurement from Fermilab to Ash River but our clocks are probably not accurate enough to comment on the recent results. We have made a request for enough money to upgrade the clocks but we will see how that goes. To the photo emulsion detector question, the plastic slabs are full of mineral oil with a scintillating chemical mixed in. Particles cause the chemical to emit light that is captured by photo-detectors on the edges.

  • Good luck with all and lets hope that you find great results!

  • Are these photo emulsion detectors?

  • Exciting stuff guys :)

  • Good work guys!

  • Can (and will) the NOvA detector be used for verification of the recent neutrino-speed experiments at CERN???

  • @angMohit That's a GREAT question----i can't believe no one has answered yet...!!....ok i can help a bit: a friend of mine is a physicist who's done a little work at FERMI-Lab; i'll ask him to come by here & answer or at least explain what he can, peace0ut, rob =][=

  • @angMohit hello again, well i asked my friend [he's a PhD in physics who's worked at FERMI in the past] and he says yes to your question, here's his answer: "It should be able to double check that

neutrino result. As it's gotten a bunch of publicity I'd be very surprised if they didn't. Still, it will be a while before it's up and running."
