I see.. so this martial arts teacher is teaching in a Dojo some medical ways how to handle persons .. tags reads Kobujutsu Taijutsu .. you cant fool all the people all the time
The point stands. The man demonstrating the waza can't maintain his balance in a very basic, predetermined movement. Mistakes happen to everyone, but that doesn't make you any less dead.
This was from the "mind-body revolution" video. The point was simply demonstrating how to properly use the body to achieve everyday needs (throughout, demonstrations are given for helping people out of chairs, rolling people in beds, easily lifting someone else, etc.). Kouno-sensei isn't demonstrating a martial arts application, but using martial arts to demonstrate an everyday application. Wakarimasuka.
I believe this show was about how to move handicapped people for medical staff.
At any rate the point wasn't a test of balance as far as the Japanese commentary explains, but a way of lifting a limp body...
Also I doubt Mr Konou would die from losing his balance after turning the body... Maybe in movies but he'd probably just go into mount and choke the guy

@gori4423

He teaches people in the sick-care profession according to his homepage in order to help prevent injuries when lifting etc .
As I remember it this whole episode (NHK) was on that subject too but it's about 6 years old and this is just a short clip...

Very interesting work, a true Master. Subtlety in the lures with the sword. A Bujutsu fills Aiki .

So bad balance is okay, so long as it's not "martial"? Unless that's what you mean, I don't see what difference it makes.
JinsukeHP 3 years ago
Nope. Just saying it doesn't make you dead ;) Everyone falls sometimes. I admire the fact he'd show it on a published video.
