  • My bad. Comment removed.

  • What is this song and who does it? Me like.

  • @mcpoopy7000 It's a remix of Röyksopp's remind me. I don't know where I got it, or who did it. Haven't been able to find it again.

  • RIP

  • RIP

  • RIP Burning Dan :'(

  • RIP

  • R.I.P. Dan. We miss you.

  • @Portis1Luv

What do you mean RIP Dan?!

  • Comment removed

  • @Portis1Luv Actually the "man in the video" is me, and we were working out partner spirals together, after I conceived of the idea wile staying with dan... as the video description suggests.

  • Great show, I olso used to do this ;) Your brother talked about you on the David Letterman show, thats how I found you;) go on

  • fun shiny spinny things...loving it!

  • remind remind remind me

  • joseph gordon levitts brother

  • @AbsoluteMenech Actually, Joe is dan's brother ;-)

  • that second to last spiral looked very good wow

  • i'm going to try (key word is try) to do this with the person i'm teaching.

  • If you both get good a doing spiral wraps around one hand/wrist instead of both that will make it much easier. Then one partner just wraps around the other's wrist and temporarily gives control to the other partner until they unwind again.

  • thanks that helps quite a bit. i remember how alienjon taught it to me here in LA b4 he left. but we didnt cover spiral wraps in partners. =P i am going to start teaching him partners poi cause he would like it. but i'm still just learning how to teach, so this will be good for both me and him.

do you have any tips about teaching him the partners weave thing?

  • OOPS!

I posted that above tip wile Nick was logged in on his account. :-P

Have you seen the partner poi vid "what the (beepbeep) do we know"?Look on channel partnerpoi and check them out. Tina, Hannah, Doro, and Francois are really fun!

  • THAT IS SOOOO AWESOME!

  • This skill took me a while to get used to, but I've decided it must be largely down to who you're partnered up with. Sure I wasn't perfect at it, but it's definitely a skill I'd like to pusue some more! I came to really enjoy this by the end of the workshop.

    Love Jess

(the REALLY short blonde who turned up to the Wiltshire workshops)

  • nice work lads! but could someone tell me who remixed dis royksopp track gotta know d chewn man would love 2 spin 2 this track.

  • It's like a secret hand shake

  • I watched it on Regularjoe's website ;-) It's really amazing! Perfect synchronization! and it's really beautiful in the night...

  • bad ass dude

  • Am I dreaming? That blew my mind O.O I thought, that partenered spiral wrap is impossible... Big respect Jon!

  • impossible is only a state of mind, so is possible! You know how you can spiral both poi on one hand/arm? That is what make it easier for partner spirals!

  • sick sick stuff .. wow

  • How do I hit record?

  • Go Google hitrecord. Sign up and start uploading records and collaborating.

  • heh Always interesting to see what you are playing with bro. Looking forward to seeing you out at Fire Drums.

  • Perhaps if you and Dan just walked around like this all the time, spinnin' poi, ...your body maps would fuse and you would be able to move each others limbs with your own minds... ;)

  • exelent idea :)))

  • Man, I haven't heard this remix before. Your brother did it you say? I like it, any links to anymore of his stuff? The original is a song by one of my favourite bands, Royksopp, the song is "Remind me".

  • Yeah, if I'm not mistaken he did it back in 2002 or something. He hasn't actually published any of his music, but he's amazing and has been doing it since he was like 13, using Impulse Tracker in DOS! I think he uses a variety of up to date software now. I'll PM you with a link to where all his finished and a lot of unfinished stuff is.

  • wow, cool!

i've done wraps off other ppl but never though to do anything like this. def. something im going to try soon.

  • A nice look at partner poi...I've got a bunch of ideas on this stuff. A geek out is necessary.

  • Hell yes! Plllllease tell me you got a Fire Drums ticket?! They are sold out now.

  • I didn't have money till now. So, I'm not entirely sure whats going to happen. I'll shoot noel a message and see if theres anything that can be worked out.

  • Hi! Did You try double partner spiral. You stand face to face with your partenr, and make simple 3b duo. Than make half turn and You get spiral from bought sites. You can make it back to back to Your partner.

Me and Tintale are preppering new horeography with some new duo tricks, for example some duo horizontals, and double side orbital with turning by the back. But it's terrible difficult, and i think it took more time as i thought.

  • Not yet. We haven't gotten a chance to play with it since we made this video. In stead of facing or back to back, I'd b inclined to try it double spirals front to back. This way you can transition into a cross stance weave easily as well, and do spirals in the position in the video.

I was also thinking of crossing with the partner' arm and the each partner spiral with them selves, while arms are linked.

  • have to try this one

  • 2:32

Lol, Random car pulls up... "Are you rolling?"

    That's classic!

  • Brilliant :)

  • Poi never seems to run out of new frontiers. Collective consciousness is really a wonderful thing too. We've been playing with this in different places like from partner buzzsaws and from weaves where the poi spiral wrap in the wall plane on both sides at once.

  • I've only just started to get into partner stuff. It's fun, but really frustrating. Spirals are incredibly difficult as they're heavily reliant on having good timing, so nice work on those. I've got a video of a couple of friends of mine doing a partner performance. I might upload it in response so you can check it out. Good work.

  • Yeah all this partner stuff is really fun and exciting, but makes me feel like I'm learning poi all over again. Would love to see their partner performance!

  • Awesome! Now that was a aiien move.

  • Thats pretty sweet, me and my brother were trying to do partner orbitals but we only tried it a couple times. You 2 should try it....

  • I'be been able to share a partner butterfly barrel-roll with Harmonized Motion (Adam), haven't gotten around to a chase barrel-roll yet. Barrel-roll inversions are the same topology as hyper loops... So they seem a good lead up to partner tangles. I have do some basic partner airwraps. The orbital would be pretty tricky. I'll have to try it with Nick if I make it to the Bali retreat.

  • That sounds insane. The concept of doing a partner weave is new to me. Me and my brother just noticed that if we timed things right we could probably get a decent orbital, we never had a lot of time to practice together though. all of this gives me new things to work on in for a group routine. If you and Ncik get that to work film it would ya? :)

  • Here is the concept that unlocks partner poi: Observe yourself when you spin, and start thinking of the left and right sides of your body as 2 Siamese twins. Now imagine what can happen when those 2 twins aren't fused at the hip anymore!

Treat you and your partner as one twin each, fist work on converting moves that you could do by your self. Then figure out how to do it in stances and alignments that are not physically possible for one body alone!. Then try it with 2 poi each!!

  • I'll try it as soon as I have a partner to spin with again! Thanks a lot for the advice.

  • ROFL!! I was able to notice 3 beat weaves.. did you guys accomplish 5 or 7 beat?

  • no 3-beat weaves in there. think you are seeing the 4-beat cross stance weave we are using as a base to do the spiral wraps. Note how dan and I are on either side of the weave. When in this stance it is much more like a 4-beat windmill or wallplane weave. If we were both on the same side (would look like we were ballroom dancing), then it would become a 3-beat. FYI I have done 5-beats weaves and 6-beat cross stance...

  • Huh.. cross-stance weaves are a new realm to me. Keep up with the insane techy poi.

  • Wow! You guys are so awesome!

  • thats pretty cool!!!

  • Look amazing. Can't wait to see what other partner stuff yall lcome up with

  • Did that guy that pulled up in the car ask you if you were rolling?

  • LOL yeah. Some people see some guys with glow toys in the street late at night and can't help but think thee things. ;-P

I like that "are you rolling" is a double entendre for filming records of our endeavors. I almost put a sound-bite of Joe in there saying "hit record" as a response, but thought it sounded just a little to cheesy, once I edited it in. Google hitrecord to make sense of the sound bites at beginning and end.

  • Nice. :)

  • Heck yeah! Partner spirals look like lot's of fun and some new stuff for groups doing poi =)

  • fun concept

always pushing things to the next level.

  • Go Team Awesome!
