  • how did gil beat burns??

  • Fiquei pasmo com esse cara muito fera e técnico impressionante.

I was amazed by this guy and impressive technical beast.

  • Is that shit I smell. I think it is from the boot of Anthony from kickin Travis Barkers ass. Travis is a joke.

  • this guy got such a great sound out of that kit, nothing like some good clear ambassadors

  • Just wondering...why does EVERY SINGLE guitar center drumoff contestants use the same fill at least once in their solo? RLKK RLKK? I mean just listen to any solo here on youtube and you will find that fill somewhere in the solo

  • I can see why he didn't win, but he's still awesome!

  • Hey Guitar Center, this guy should have been the winner. I guess all those cheesy moves really do pay off. This guy is a muscian not a professional pattern machine who rips of a bunch of standard Jazz and marching band licks like all the winners seem to get by with. what ever happened to the originality catigory. Does it mean anything, if it did we wouldn't keep seeing the same material every year. Get rid of those drumline judges and place a premium on originality and this shit will stop!

  • @badmotorscooter1000 love it.

  • @badmotorscooter1000 Burns is a great player, but did not win because Jerome Flood II won 2008...watch the video and you'll see why...

  • @DavidGardea I like Burns better. he didn't show up with a formula solo. Watch other drumoff videos and you will see alot of rehashed cliche material and Jerome uses it alot. Anthony played much more original material and plays with a real spontanous and natural feel. Like a Ronald Bruner, go watch his video's and you will see alot of simularities. If I was playing Madison Square Garden and needed a drummer to put some real heat on the headliners drummers ass I would pick Anthony every time.

  • He plays big fat grooves he is bad ass. Glad to see he didn't do the obvious old jazz material that shit is wore out. If i see one more drummer stick his elbow into the snare I going to reach threw the monitor and choke a bitch.

  • i really dislike how he plays a groove, stops, plays a different one, repeat.. He's definitely good, but he needs more work on transitioning for sure

  • Can't believe this guy didn't win. not playing a bunch of memorized patterns but playing from feel and improvising on the spot. Alot of original material, not copied from other drummmers great speed with good power and control plus finess love the originatily this guy will be playing with a national act someday!

  • OMG!

  • are you sure he isnt using double bass pedals?

  • WHOOOOOO!

  • Drum-gasm @ 3:38.

  • This guy is insane.

  • @bonisboy double strokes one the toms man

  • This performance is sick. Dude you should have been the winner. Jerome Flood is a great drummer also but man it was clear that you should have won. Your performance was way better than jerome`s.

  • Great solo. Best sounding Kit i ever heard in the drum off.

  • I just hope people don't make the mistake to say that this is my 2010 solo. Some people don't read or grasp things properly. Can't wait for them to put up my 2010 solo....................

  • @Aburnz11 - what kind of snare is that ? btw, you are great player , and the sound of your drums on this video is fantastic !

  • This year he killed it. I was up front. As soon as I heard he was from Michigan, I was rooting for him. Within 20 secs I knew he was the winner. Everyone had something great to bring, but just pure confidence that came from LOTS of practice clearly sealed the deal.

  • @The Skankmaster dude..... Lmbo you make no sense. If I'm suppose to be upset or even happy bout wat u said, you've accomplished nothing. Lol nice try tho. Hey everyone else thanks again for all the help and support you've shown me. Let's win it this year!!!!!!

  • You lost because you look like Usher. And we all know that Usher is responsible for that little fucker with the woman hair.

  • Thanx a bunch everyone!!!

  • Good Luck Anthony, hope you do well at the finals. I loved your solo in 2008 so I can't wait to see what you come up with this year!

  • oh my god...

what hi hat cymbals from sabian are those????????????

    I WANT THEM

  • is this all single pedal bass?

  • all the changes in tempo makes it hard to watch.

    good chops though

  • ANTHONY BURNS IS BACK IN THE 2010 GC DRUM OFF FINALS!!!

(------thumbs this up so it stays at the top------)

He had just won the GC Drum Off Detroit District Finals earlier today, and now he's back in the 2010 Drum Off Finals, two years after this (above) performance!

    Good luck, Anthony!

  • this is my favorite of 2008's!:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDd

  • I appreciate the love and support from everyone. Thanx a lot!!! I'll work hard to make this year count..

  • FUCKING... EPIC!!!

  • what mics are you guys using?

  • WOuuuuuuuuuu

  • He should have won playing like that. DANG!! HE KILLED IT. Jerome is good but man this dude is a monster too.

  • perfect stick control

  • i've never heard dw's sound so round before, i love it

  • I think the DWs sound better than any other drums used in the drum off

  • @kikme778 I'm a big fan of the omni-tune tamas they use. that's just me though

  • All I got to say is dayhem!!! I've had my head stuck up tony royster's behind so long that I never saw this vid until now. Freakin awesome bro!!! You were kiilin it chief!!! I might have a new favorite! Sorry Tony! Lol!!! By the way the Woooo's I thought was bad@ss too! Added to the whole effect. Anytime a drummer can beat on the drums the way you do while twirling the sticks, is on top of his game. Tony why ain't you twirling????

  • gud job. real talk. get em this year. jus remember stay humble. a humble player always wins. wit your talent u should get a gig wit jay or some one

  • @bRadicalmagic1 dude, I'm taking that as a compliment lol. I wouldn't say it's mainly because I'm black. I'd say it was because I group in a black Gospel environment. Most of the dudes you see dominating competitions have a Gospel background and grew up in that, so they had to have rhythm because they wanted to be the drummer, bassist, organist, etc...

  • @GarrettMCobbs thank god someone knows.. ive tried explaining that to sooo many ppl.. its the background we grew up with.. at an extremly young age.. then it compliments the way you play.. and really how good you are be keeping at it from hat young age.

  • amazin drummer..

  • black guy + drums equals PURE FKCING PWNAGE!!!!!!....seriously...im a session player and every single black drummer i know dominates....lucky bastards!!!

  • @toolkills Wow, here we go again. You are a racist. I've seen plenty of good and bad drummers in any color skin. To point out something like this in relation to race

    is racist, pure and simple.

  • This guy is awesome. Mad chops.

  • looks a little like reggie bush.lol

  • looks to me like jerome flood got some of his stuff from Anthony. and a bunch of other people, like jojo mayer turning on the snares with his foot thing for example

  • most amazing bass foot

i thought it was double pedal for a while

  • @JoeJacari Thanx I appreciate that so much. To everyone else, thanx for the love and constructive criticism. Ive been working hard to prepare myself for the next time I may make it to finals. Ive learned that I need to be more musical and more structured. Tricks are ok, but its not about that. 2010 I will put my best foot forward and doin something different for my supporters. Thanx again for the comments

  • @Aburnz11 LOVE THE WOOOOOOO'S! :D

  • @Aburnz11

it was tight man dont worry about it

  • I know Ima get a lot of bad responses for this post....

His whoooooos....got a little annoying...other than that, MEAN SOLO!

  • could he spin his sticks again? i dont think i saw it the other 100 times

  • this guy is a great drummer. his grooves are soooooooooo strong and like ahh i dunno how to explain. he shoulda won

  • lik a few other ppl hav said the woo's r there cuz he's enjoying himself...alot of drummers lik myself work hard on r stuff and we lik to add those little woo's and yea's juss cuz we feel lik it and u ppl who r dissing this guy for tht r a buncha fags cuz in my persective he was good

  • .... Tee said that the winner deserved to win and is very hard on himself. So not only does it offend me, but it also upsets me to hear he is "arrogant". And I do agree that the "whooos" are part of his stage presence and are needed. Tee keep doin you bro and thanks to all the positive feedback, as well as the constructive criticism.

  • First of all, My lil brother is one of the best drummers I have ever heard. He is now arrogant at all and is actually very humble. The whooos are like he said a habit. We do that because we are able to pull off what we have worked hard to do. It's more of a relief that a shout of arrogance. Second, until you have seen Tee in his element, you have not seen him play. When he is relaxed you is a lot more creative and cleaner. All the drummers were good, and I'm not naming a best. ......

  • id like to hear everyones response to my solo on that stage....i reckon id hear a fair few boos lol!

  • he really likes to say "wooo!"

  • the tones he produces from those already good sounding drums is fucking amazing!!!!!

  • I've met him before :O I watched him play and he's bad ass

  • great ...

  • I guess! They all good how about I just say that. lol

  • Wooooo! Despicable!

  • at 3:38 he looks like he needs to poop.

  • ..he probably does

  • 2:47 head bobin

  • i like how seems to have so much fun when hes playing the drums....not the case with the other contestants

  • sherman arnold is the same way

  • probably just nerves with the others tbh :P

  • at the end why was the guy tapping him??

  • They tap them to tell them that they have 30 secs left

  • Or another time the drummer asked for. (:

  • WOOOOOOOH haha

  • He feeling it aint he?

  • haha yeah man

  • hes defenitly better than flood... nevertheless better rythms and much more interesting to hear...just as non drummers reported to me ;)

  • All of them were! who cares about twisting the sticks and all that stuff.. it doesn't matter to a blind man all they can do is hear! LOL!

  • You kind of contradict yourself, anthony burns and sherman arnolds twirl their sticks too.

  • Comment removed

  • Playing to long probably cost him the championship...As judges, we deduct points when you don't follow the rules...But as a judge...I feel this solo was just as good as jerome's...yeah...picking a winner would have been tough....

  • hw did he play 2 long??

  • i bet the judges had a hella hard time deciding between him and jerome flood. they are neck and neck

  • I can't wait to see what he brings this year!

  • I've seen T play in my shop plenty of times. He's got a good shot at it this year.

  • Man everytime I look at this, I think is that how I played??? I think I was too caught up in the fun I had just being there. The wooooos was a habit that I promise I dont do anymore. I know I could have done a lot better than that and this year I will do better. Thank you all for the comments and tips. I didnt like my solo either.

  • Man, don't be so hard on yourself, you have a sick style, and you had some really cool ideas in your solo. Just make your next solo a little bit more cohesive and you'll do great. I was rooting for Tim because Im from San Diego, but I really liked your solo as well. Keep having fun man!

  • bro u a monster man u got sum crazy chops man..where your youtubes?? lol i hope u make it back to the finals boss...get at me

  • @Aburnz11 ...Yo...A B....You rolled dude...this was an inspiring solo...this was not your best...man I can wait to here what you create next....By the way....could you not get in it next year....I would like at lease a store win....LOL

  • Nah mainee that was the most enjoyable solo to watch fort his competition in my opinion. You enjoy yourself when you play and i admire that in a drummer.

  • @Aburnz11 it was good bro! you made it to the finals.. all the haters on here commenting didn't lmao! What did you think of my boy Tim Newton?

  • tim newton is dope!!!

  • @Aburnz11 good job dude i was hella impressed..and i liked the "woo's" i just thought it went with everything and it showed love and inspiration for drumming. just keep it up bro

  • @Aburnz11 wat do u mean bro?!?!? u killeddddd!!!!!! and the woooossss is ok because u like what ur doing and having fun and definitely killing!!! yo doc u smashed this drum off, in my opinion u should of took it that year!!!

  • @Aburnz11 dude....... the woo's makes your grooves feel GOOD!!!

  • @Aburnz11 dude the woo's gave it personality. and two, a lot of people, including myself would give an arm or a leg to play like that. well done, sir!

  • @Aburnz11 you should be proud man, only a number of people on this planet can play like you. i wish i was 1/100th of you dude

    cheers

  • @Aburnz11

    You're cool.

  • @Aburnz11 The woos weren't that bad, they have a stage value if you do it once or twice. Just remember that the most important part of a good drum solo is composition. You gotta make it flow. All the most popular bands were great at putting stuff together. The Beatles, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, etc. A good solo tells a story. Check out some old Joe Morello or Max Roach solos to see what I mean.

  • @Aburnz11 hey man its all about having fun...at the end of the solo you were hype cause you had fun doing it.. It doesn't get any better than that. Great Solo!!

  • @Aburnz11 you didn't like your solo? i sure as hell did, really good dude...but yeah the "whoos" you could've done without. good luck next competition

  • @Aburnz11 Personality and great drumming - definately dont be annoyed with this man - its badass ;)

    Peace

  • @Aburnz11 man you gotta win, your sick.

  • I fucking love the wooooo's!

  • Black dudes should NOT be allowed to compete in drum competitions. They're born with a radical sense of rhythm and it just isn't FAIR.

    Awesome session guy.

My nephew won our local preliminaries. But ONLY because there weren't any black dudes trying out.

  • @bRadicalmagic1 Why be so stupid? Drumming has nothing to

do with the color of one's skin. That's a racist, extremely ignorant, comment. Try to think before you write something like that.

  • @brickslam

You are a certifiable IDIOT. I don't have a CLUE what it is that you are going on about.

I don't see why you have to coon dog me just because you are a STOVE LID though!

  • @bRadicalmagic1 Another example of your intelligence level.

  • @brickslam I'm sorry, was that an insult? Why would you insult me? After all, I gave a clear compliment relating to the natural rhythm that black people have...like I said, awesome session guy. So just what is your malfunction?

  • @bRadicalmagic1 Black people? Coon? Don't you read what you write?

Why not just compliment the guy's drumming and leave race out of it?

  • that was awesome ! this guy rocks!

  • Think he went a little overboard with the "woooo's".He's good but let your playing do the talking.

  • Black people woooooo

  • nah mate, part of winning a drum competition is your stage presense, so no you shouldn't just let your playing do the talking

  • Comment removed

  • hahaha WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !

  • Do you think maybe he lost because he went 19 seconds over the time limit which could have disqualified him? Its hard to tell which performance was better I just think Jerome Flood's solo had a more musical flow to it. Anthony Burn's solo on the other hand demonstrated more skill but it was kind of scatterbrained like he didn't plan it out as much as Jerome did.

  • you don't get disqualified you just ose points

  • lose*

  • this guy should have won that year... that performance was better than the winner's

  • ha yeah when you say woooo to your own playing, to me that comes off a little too arrogant and annoying. solid player though. respect.

  • those drums sound amazing! guitar center did a great job miking em

  • woooooooooo!

  • Whooooo! lol

  • That is one deep snare.

  • That orange Gatorade makes me thirsty!

  • way better than flood and shoulda won specially if he never said woooo every second

  • a black guy using double pedal wao thats new for me jajajaja great performance

  • notice how the majority of finalists were black

  • @Gibson2471 So?

  • ......!@#$%

  • haha.jerome is what then?

  • nice defenitly a good competer for flood

  • LOVED IT
