@ATACXGYM Its interesting you bring up both Chapel and Speakman. This video, along with others from this event were posted onto a kenpo forum back in 2007 and Dr. Chapel definitely gives his opinion regarding what Speakman says in them and what he thinks of Speakman himself. Some are complimentary, but most…lets just say would definitely not make Jeff or his followers very happy.
I am seeing so many people dissing Jeff Speakman, why is this? The man is a true martial artist and teaches REALLY well too. He does not diss any other martial art or martial artists. This man is really fast and he also emits power just by being in his presence you can feel a powerful aura coming from him!

Mr Speakman once said at a seminar, without power, he is not impressed with speed. He never said that you should not move with speed.Just not sacrificing power for speed. He said, yes, maybe you can hit me 11 times within one second, but you can not hurt me, so who cares.
the 5 year minimum for every degree is NOT from Ed Parker. This is where I disagree with him. Only because you see that all the guys that were promoted by parker were sometimes up to 5th degree after only 12 years of being a black and such. I've even heard it said by many 1st Gen. Black belts that Parker had no ruling for degrees.
@rickyhurtado If you hear what Jeff Speakman said, its a 5 year minimum for 5th degree and up....not for every degree. I don't know how the Kempo system works. But in most styles. Every degree up to 5th requires at least two years. After 5th will depend on the system and the instructor.

And the thing is that Degrees never really had a real foundation in Kenpo. I know a man I train with in Long Beach who Parker gave a degree to just because the man bought Ed Parker a Home Entertainment system. Tom Kelley claims to be the first 7thDan. He passed up his own instructor because Parker gave him degrees.
@rickyhurtado Well, I don't know much about Ed Parker's students. I do have respect for Kempo and many of the instructors I see on youtube, except for Joe Palanzo. He is very sloppy in my opinion and I don't see how he became a 10th degree.

@rickyhurtado Yeah, I seen a video here on youtube of John La Tourette, and at first, I liked his speed, but the hits weren't connecting with any power hardly. And I see that with alot of Kempo guys, alot of speed, but they lack true power. And the fact that he seems to be a self-proclaimed 10h degree just turned me off. My instructor David Collins, is a 10th Degree, only because he founded a system called Fire and Water. He said, there are only a handful of true 10th degrees in the US.

if it were on the not only jeff speakman but anyone with serious background experience will hurt their opponent, possibly kill them. real martial arts is dangerous.

I want to state that I sincerely apologize for my statements against Jeff Speakman, as a Kenpo man myself, I cannot speak this way about him. No one is making me say this, While I disagree w/ his opinions maybe about the Tracy's who I do not know, it is not right and sends out bad karma to myself. It is just not the way a martial artist conducting himself. I need to be careful in my speech.Once again my sincerest apologizes and please disregard anything I said about Master Speakman.
Speakman makes me sick, he tries to look so noble. We don't know what Parker would be working on. When Speakman gonna come out w/ 6.0, 7.0 8.0 , its all about who can convince people to follow them, Speakman's no different, FOLLOW THE MONEY!!
