What choke would you use to get him to raise his hand from his side. It kinda looks like your grabbing his throat, but could you do that in a bjj tournament? I dunno never been.
ive seen cooler shit than that at a local jiu jitsu class on a wednesday. of course that could happen especially if you got good guys that can flow. positions can change like art work you justgotta be around it enough. this sweet i like the set ups and the finger crawl :D smooth technique some gracie shit for sure
why the hell would you give up two dominant positions to go to your back for a sub that you may or may not pull off? Only if I'm rolling with a white belt would I try this. And would never use this in mma.
it seems there is one flaw in this technique: when the guy rolls you over when you're trying to finish the arm triangle - the guy passes his arm to get in position for the triangle and the guy just gives it to him. nobody past a blue belt level is likely do this. there needs to be a way to control the arm and pass it.
@valetudokid I understand what your saying but you must think of the inertia thats involved during the roll. The guy being subbed is most likely going to put his hand on the ground to base out and in the process he is passing the arm for you.
it looks like it's mostly when you fuck up your positioning and sit unbalanced so it's easy to topple you. with correct positioning, no, i don't think even somebody really strong could turn into that.
that's nice! i've been struggling to get the tap with arm triangles for a while but haven't thought to go to scarf hold to get it. will try it when i roll tomo!!
ummm i dont think that there are any actualy moves to get out of one almost all submissions dont have a counter part other wise they wouldnt use them buut sometimes if u roll real fast or u try to stand up or u hit the guy u can loosen it give u time to breathe then while he trys to tighten it pretty much scramble and u might get away but u might not leg triangles u can either pick the guy up and slam him(rampage jackson) or try and squeeze ur head out which both are difficult to do
every submission has a counter!! BJJ is just like chess and for every action is a reaction. and by what you said at the bottom its quite obvious you haven't trained a day of any art of ground fighting. I'm not trying to offend just pointing out the obvious. you would have been better off just saying (I DON'T KNOW)
yea those two "escapes" you said are very very beginner stuff. last resort escape would be to jst try to pull tats right before the tap. all moves have defences and escapes. thats part of the fun. example of a triangle escape would be the sit and pry or the knee on belly. defense for the triangle would be to get your other hand blocking the neck and in between the legs to give yourslf space and keep the choke off your artery
@HellRaider99 I submitted a guy in a tournament with an arm bar. He was in mid slam (I was upside down, in the air) while tapping out. So your ideas are fail when against knowledgeable opponents. Some people can take a hit and know how to break-fall.
That would only work if he is stupid enough to give it to you by taking his arm out while one arm is still in.

Interesting, but I don't think even Brock Lesnar could roll INTO me when I have an arm triangle on...

Sweet like candy! I'm beginning to really dig all instructional clips from this guy/guys - simple, pedagocial (right spelling?) thorough!
RonnieRocker 3 years ago
"Pedagogic", although that's a bit obvious since it's an instructional video. Maybe "instructive"?
ultimatehammer 2 years ago
Semantics is always interesting! Aren't most instructional videos more or less instructive? But far from all are pedagogic...? ;)
