that was freekin' brilliant, love the drumming, 2 of the world's greatest behind the kit and 2 of the world's greatest singers, not to mention the best guitarist in the multiverse
I'm watching this for the 20th time or so, big fan of Petrucci, World Domination Mode and so on, all great. However, what Rudess does in his solo is absolutely mind-blowing!
Where was this filmed at? They did this song together in KC when I saw them and I'm wondering if it's the same night. No wait, I guess not. They say Seattle at the end. LOL This is an epic performance though!
I'm pretty surprised of how this sounds so similar to the original (because usually DT give their personal touch to their covers). Except, obviously, the ass-kicking solo of the God John Petrucci.
I just had to watch this video again, because it rocks my world so HARD! Two great drummers going wild, Rudess turning in a world class keyboard solo, and Petrucci going nutso cabana on his solo!!! What an amazing cover...LOVE IT.
According to official information, only three audience members were concious after Petrucci performed an entire solo in World Domination Mode. They were wearing earplugs, so the effects were dampened somewhat. They all had severe nosebleeds and could not blink for a full four days. Everyone else was in a month-long coma.
@ssz1r exactly. He was on a few Queensryche albums, notably Operation Mindcrime II. I can't name a single other thing he's done, but I really like him
This video reminds me of 2 things 1. I wish Chris DeGarmo was still there and 2. Mike Stone does not belong on that stage with all that talent. He is a horrible player.
This is pretty cool! I love this version! Also I found a metal version of this song online but I can't identify who it's by. It's NOT Van Halen, and they're the only other band that I can find that covers this song. If someone wants to identify it I'll send them the link...
Mike Stone is not a good guitarist, a poor replacement for DeGarmo in the Ryche. I wouldn't look for Wilton and Stone either one on a G3 tour anytime soon.
Sorry dude, you're wrong. Mike Stone is a good guitarist. Saying that Stone is no DeGarmo is like saying that DeGarmo is no Michael Hedges. Watch Mindcrime live at the moore, the performance does not suffer at all for the lack of DeGarmo. FFS i'd take Wilton/Stone over Wilton/Grey any time. The largest thing i miss from DeGarmo is the writing, not his guitar playing.
IMO Mike Stone rocks. You are welcome to disagree, but saying he is a bad guitarist is pretty shitty. I am a bad guitarist. :)
This is a much better cover than Comfortably Numb. Just wish John Myung and Eddie Jackson had a solo moment, as well. As 'Bad2891' stated, wish this was better quality (and in-sync) but still captured enough to keep me watching all 9min and 42 secs.
2 bad Tate/Portnoy had 2 have their little pissing contest in the press couple yrs. back. Saw this tour, wata gr8 bill. Like 2 see 'em hook up again, was a gr8 show!

@Tiduses1 Because it takes two drummers to match the energy of Keith Moon.

@EC66OK Portnoy isn't returning. he left the band. well, of course, he MIGHT return, but he left, he didn't just "take a break"

For a (visually) good version of this (and Comfortably Numb), look for the Queensryche DVD "The Art of Live"
My favorite part of the QR/DT videos is how much fun it looks like they're having :)
Also, yes Petrucci is a good guitarist. But If you think that that means that Wilton and Stone aren't also good guitarists, you're deranged.
