I have a 27 ton troybilt with a little 5 horse honda. I've split and sold 40+ cord per year with it for the last 4 years. I am yet to find a knotty chunk of any species it wont eventually cut through. Bought it at lowes for $1300. Perfect for the weekender that wants to sell a little firewood on the side. It will pay for itself after the first 6 cords you deliver. ($250. per cord in Seattle.) However..... We're looking for a bigger machine that can kick up
This isn't a machine designed for homeowners. This is for people who use (which would ammount to abuse on a homeowner special) splitters for a living on a daily basis. They need a bullet proof machine that works day in and out, and capable of splitting anything put on it. It's not worth 6k for the homeowner, but it can be for a firewood processer owner.
It would be like comparing a garden tractor to an agricultural tractor. They may both be 20 horse, but they sure have different abilities, durabilities, and price tags.
Actually mine has earned me around $8,000-$12,000 a year! I'm on my third year with mine, nice side money, and great way to turn a dollar off the wood that comes down from our tree jobs. And our first year, we sold and delivered 202 racks of wood, to 63 customers which is (25 1/2) cord, $8,025.00
And at the end of March we are going to stock up at least 50 cords(400 racks) which will bring me $15,000+, because we sell by the rack or by the truck load!
I don't understand: how is this worth $6k, but a avg one is "a toy"? Yes, you are moving quickly, but the machine is no faster than my 25yr old, 5 hp, 20T model bought from sears. loading with that lifter is no faster than rolling a round to a vertical splitter. If a 'toy' broke every 5 years, I could buy a new one every 5 yrs and still have more money at the end of 30 yrs. Explain what is "better" about this? Is it 100T or something?
I think I just posted a comment to the vid, not to a specific user. I'm just asking a question...anyone can reply. I don't understand what would make this machine worth that much, compared to an $1800 one...log lift, ~$900, electric start (if it has that, ~$150....that's about $3k.
I used to have a Troy-Built and we completely wore it out in just a year, and it was way to slow, And besides we bust wood from eight inches all the way up to twenty plus inches, so the log lift is a must, this machine is built to last for a life time, and it is solid iron, unlike some of its rivals which only has some iron.
you must work for this company. this machine is no faster than other hydraulic splitters, other than the four-way head, which can be bought as a slip-on with other machines. I don't know how you can "completely wear out" a splitter in one year...you are asking people to believe what? that everything about it failed in one year? not believable. I just split 7 small truckloads last week with a 25y.o. 5 hp sears horizontal splitter. Split dozens of pieces 24-36". The machine is not "worn out".
No, I just believe in the LS2526, its really great, but I did get rid of the first splitter, because it was showing wear and was to slow, and things on it started to break. I needed something that was more productive and can lift big logs and the four way too, and heaver duty. It used to take about an hour to split a truck load with the old Troy-Built, now I split around a cord and half (three truck loads) in an hour, give or take.
With two adult and two teens, we manage to split around three truck loads, or cord and a half in an hour! We sell firewood all year around and for the money and its class, this by far is the best splitter, also this splitter is built better and has better performance than its rivals!
There should be a better way to secure the wood other than using your hand. Seems like you could loose a body part really fast that way.

I just bought mine for $5,100+shipping and tax.
If you're going to buy a wood splitter, this one is second to none! Real iron construction, the real deal!
