I always think this piece is about an interracial relationship and the struggles they face from society, like the part in the beginning when they look at each other and then down at their hands, like they're realizing how different they look from each other for the first time, and Katie struggles more with the discrimination they face, and Josh is the strong one that "carries" her through the hard times

The two dancers are different races, but that doesn't mean you need to interpret it so literally. The audience always thinks duets are about two people in love. Look past the obvious and think a little deeper.

SexyBaby's argument is sound and the intricacies such as the two dancers rubbing their fingers frustratedly as if they were tormented by the incompatibility of their external appearances just makes this dance so much more enjoyable to watch with that interpretation in mind.

This routine is very dynamic even without all the fancy moves . It sure is very emotional and subtle . Both Joshua and Katee danced brilliantly but i think Katee had an upper hand on the performance side . Joshua was a very superb dancer but never close to Will's brilliance .

See- this is why I miss the old stage SO MUCH. It was a much smaller space, and gave a more intimate feel to the dance. The American Idol stage does SYTYCD a huge diservice by distracting us and dwarfing the dancers. And don't get me started about the camerawork this season!

While I'm still enjoying the current season and the new All-Star, I really miss the couples that stuck together for weeks at a time. Joshua/Katee, Legacy/Kathryn, Ade/Melissa, Dominic/Sabra... those partnerships are what I remember most from the past seasons and how the performances were always so much better when that chemistry had a chance to develop. I hope they go back to the regular format next season.
