I was introduced to this song in 77/78 while living in Iraq, and even though my knowledge of Arabic was limited as a teen from Pakistan, I just loved it. She sings a sad song with the confidence of a woman who has moved on with her life. A woman who was once so vulnerable, and now so strong. Pure magic!

I've just seen a documentary about Lebanon and Fairuz. I have to say I am not Lebanese, I have never been to Lebanon and I know very little about this country or its people, but I really had a hard time holding my tears inside, and yes I am a man :S Lebanese had so much pain and the words of Fairuz describe it very well. Lebanon gave shelter to many of my people when they were prosecuted in Turkey, therefore I want to say my eternal gratitude and BEST WISHES from Armenia, Lebanon will overcome!
