The ending was perfect when they repeated "and I'll sing" 3 times because Julie had that botched operation on her vocal chords and will never sing as she did before.
Ah Jeremy Irons, underrated. But my god that was actually beautiful vocals by him. Despite the fact he doesnt really need to sing that song, he manages with full naturalness to make that song sound so smooth
i honestly believe and i'm sure everyone would agree that Julie Andrews is the most deserving artist to be given a tribute and recognition by the Kennedy Center Honors.
And can I just say that I miss THIS Kristin Chenoweth? Nowadays she's a bit more of a "celebrity," as in she's always wearing the perfect clothes and huge sunglasses and she looks absolutely GAUNT. <3
Julie Andrews and Kristin Chenoweth are my theatre idols. Very different personalites, very different accents, very different appearances, but the same warmth and love for everyone and everything, and they both have talent spilling out of their ears.
Lets face it we were gonna watch it because we saw the picture of Kristin and then shit ourselves because it had to do with Julie. But were scared that it would be an overload of awesomeness! :)
You can't get any better than Julie! Her reaction to the tributes show what a lovely person she is! I love her dress, she looks stunning (and definitely not like she's in her 60s). The guy sat behind her, to the left of the screen, with the glasses, sat next to Blake, is that Jimmy Garner? Because it really looks like him, but I wasn't sure!
Julie Andrews was such a role model to me ever since I was a child. I remember constantly watching Sound of Music over and over again...it's still one of my favourite movies after so many years. Beautiful talent.
I LOVE Rebecca Luker!!! I just love love love her voice. She was MAGNIFICENT in The Secret Garden (as Lillius Craven) alongside Mandy Patinkin (as Archibald Craven; he also played in the early seasons of Criminal Minds before Joe Mantengna took his place)!!!
I absolutely adore the look on Pavarotti's face after Kristin sings. He looks like an incredibly gleeful kid looking at incredible Christmas lights. Just joyful :)
And the reaction in the box at the finale is even more moving than the voices themselves. Seeing them all mouthing, "Whoa!" "Wow!" "Unbelievable!" and "Beautiful!" is so...I don't know...sincere and touching.
I hope that one day, I have the grace and class Julie Andrews holds in her little finger.
Fantastic!! She was a fabulous lady & most beautiful voice. She had a T.V.show in the 70's called The Julie Andrews Show does anyone have some of it??She often had Robert Goulet as her guest. No T.V.like that now!!!!!
Holy shit. Julie Andrews, Jack Nicholson, and Pavarotti all sitting in the same box. I can't believe it didn't collapse under the weight of their talent.
Kristen's performance was great but she should have ditched the dancing - her voice is good enough that she doesn't need stuff like that to carry through!
Julie andrews is the definition of Elegance, Class and Natural Beauty. I also loved Kristin's version of 'A Spoonful of Sugar' I GREW UP with that movie!!
I love watching Julie Andrews throughout all of her tribute - she's so humble and takes all the praise and dedication with a grateful smile. And I also love how she gives Kristin Chenoweth a double-thumbs up after her song. It's kind of like, "You did GREAT, kid!"
okay I knew KRISTIN CHENOWETH could sing but I NEVER knew she ahd that kind of power. Blew my wig and socks..okay readjusting my attire..now back to the regularly scheduled program already in progress
It makes me smile how Kristin has this incredible singing voice that is rivalled by almost no other singer out there, but when she talks she sounds like a cartoon. It just doesn't match up! I <3 her speaking voice, so don't think I am criticising, but the two don't go together at all!
I can't even say how much I love Julie. She's frankly a sort of ideal. She's perfect. That's it. That's the word. She's perfect. There is not a thing about her, not a hair, not a thing I would change. She is perfect. And forever.
Julie is one of the most amazing, excellent and brilliant performers in entertainment history. She deserves this tribute and more! What a lovely lady!
Julie Andrew's posture, reactions, emotions etc really shows how humble she is...if only the people who are admired today could be just as amazing as the great Julie Andrews
