  • Trippy...

  • In my generation, this was every little boy's intro to soft porn... lol.

  • hubba hubba so go to be a kid

  • This girl cartoon dancer reminds me of the famous tv show I love Lucy...the girl looks like Lucy in cartoon version.

  • Granny wasn't gonna let anyone steal her man lol

  • See Sesame Street Has Songs For Everybody

  • sure thing

  • i'm actually studying cartoons, and they were inspired by betty grable at first ^^

  • @mmaguii that may be true, although the action in this is very reminiscent of Lana, who was very supportive of the war effort... I'm sure ol' Tex studied all the great pin ups of the era & came up with this red headed super-ella, lady evening starlet/rosie the riveter

  • I miss these old cartoons where you can pull a mallet out of nowhere and bash someone in the head. THAT’S real comedy :D

  • Tex Avery seemed to have a thing for redheads and wolves.

  • swing shift Cinderella that's her Name

  • Children were expected to masturbate to this?

  • @chaser8509 no kidding

  • mrmjeber, Jessica Rabbitt is an homage to Rita Hayworth. That is what her own creators say.

  • i always crack up when the granny hits the wolf with the hammer n in the end when red does it. so hilarious!! :DD

  • Is it me or did Tex Avery have this thing for wolves and redheads?

  • Is this song performed by a real singer? I really want to know.

  • @TheTerrificjoker Name?...

  • @Starkiller011 red as swing shift cinderella

  • @TheTerrificjoker Then don't reply if you don't know anything in the first place.

  • @Starkiller011 now i'm unstumped

  • @Starkiller011 it's Swing Shift Cinderella

  • @Starkiller011 That was Red

  • @Starkiller011 red as swing shift cinderella

  • the crazy thing is that if that woman was on the Hollywood red carpet, everyone would think she needs to lose weight....arghh.

  • gang rape ending D:

  • ILMAO fun cartoon

  • CatMoves1, no Bette Davis at all. She's more like Rita and Lana.

  • lol, is that the wolf's wife who keeps him held back & chained up? hahahahahah. Classic.

  • @CorRomeister It's the Fairy Godmother (Red Hot is sort of a play on a mix betewen Red Riding Hood and Cinderella).

  • @Gearran Oh, ok.

  • Beautiful, timeless, clever & funny. I love the music to these old Tex Avery - Merrie Melodies - Looney Tunes - etc cartoons.

  • this was when it was ok for gals to have natural curves by having some weight to them. and not looking like pencils with lips and plastic curves.

if this gal was real and living in this time. she would be expected to lose at least twenty pounds to fit the modern image of a woman.

  • @sangeliastorck Yeah & the Irony about today is that Natural curves & beauty R shunned & made fun of while Artificial beauty (plastic surgeries) r encouraged

  • @KUirEE I remember the comments made about Marilyn Monroe. if she was still alive. hollywood and the media would be calling her "Fatlegs" for how her legs look as well as Fatwoman for not being a 39-20-35 and not a size 1 for clothing. in her time it was normal for a gal to be a size 8. what is now a size 10 since they redid the sizing.

  • @sangeliastorck Hop off your soap box; Cindy here is goddamn tiny. She has a slightly understated hourglass figure.

  • 2:18, I lol'd ^_^

  • Was this character inspired by Marilyn Monroe?

  • @LadyTwentySeven No, released in 1945, before Norma Jean was "discovered"

  • @LadyTwentySeven

    Rita Hayworth and Lana Turner

  • @GLaMaStaRLeTS

Are you sure there wasn't some Angela Lansbury as well? Looks a whole lot like her to me...especially the hair and lips.

  • @GLaMaStaRLeTS Don't forget Bette Davis!

  • @LadyTwentySeven That was Bette Davis.

  • @LadyTwentySeven no. THIS CHARACTER WAS LONG BEFORE MARILYN

  • @LadyTwentySeven Look at the date of when this was made. Tenish years before Marilyn really was popular. One thing I know for sure Red/Cindy was inspired by Betty Grable the pin-up/actress particularly her hairdo. In Red Hot Riding Hood her speaking voice mimics Katherine Hepburn (not related to Audrey) while in this she sounds like Bette Davis. In Dan Magoo she sounds like Mae West. One thing for sure Jessica Rabbit in Who Framed Roger rabbit is an homage to Red.

  • This is one of Tex Avery's best. It seems no matter which studio he was working for at the time (Warner or MGM), you can pick out his style.

  • fantastic animation

  • Man, this really takes me back! I haven't seen this in forever!

  • 'The Girl', as she's known, was animated by the great Preston Blair (with NO rotoscoping BTW).

  • Is she related to Jessica Rabbit?

  • @EiriLover I certainly think so. I think they're cousins.

  • @EiriLover Yes. :D

  • Cinderella turns into Bette Davis!

  • Damn, I miss cartoons like this! They should create a new channel just for old cartoons like this.

  • as a kid i never through about how sexy it was i was just having fun watching cartoon XD

  • @TheDarkhollowteme Same here!! I never thought it was suggestive or anything. I just sat there, a cute little 5 year old, jamming out thinking how pretty and cool she was. I pretty much treated her like any Disney princess. XD

  • @TheDarkhollowteme Me too! :D

  • @1Meshy Me Too

  • @TheDarkhollowteme AGREEED!

  • so, that's why i love this kind of jazz so much... i listened it to death in my childhood...

  • jajajaja esta cenicienta me recuerda mucho ami jjajaja

  • Ha, somebody below me is waxing nostalgic about Cartoon Network. I was watching this before there was cable. In fact, I'm still content with just free air TV (at least, pay TV ain't worth what they charge).

  • uuuhhhmm those cartoons no are for children

  • Can you imagine how awesome of a job Zooey Deschanel would do with this song?

  • 2:30 "LockWEED aircrafts lol"

  • We was kids watching this seductive act but if I was that Wolf I would go loco too

  • Sexism at it very very best :D

  • Smokin Hot!! And we were kids watching.

  • The wolf got what he wanted in the Tom and Jerry movie...

  • Tex Avery cartoons were the best cartoons I watched during my childhood. This was when Cartoon Network was good.

  • Wow, that was a hot and sexy cartoon!

  • 2:16-2:19 lol.. he had enough with grandma!

  • I've allways wondered...Who sang this song?

  • Tex Avery=the BEST

  • Ooouuuuwwwww!

  • Eek, kind of a creepy ending there for our poor heroine! I wonder if that's what it was like for the girls entering the War Workforce back then? All the guys that couldn't go or hadn't been drafted acting all Wolfish to the temporarily single ladies...

  • 4 people arent a wolfie.

  • While Tex Avery deserves a lot of praise for his wild imagination, special praise should go to Preston Blair, who animated "Red" the sexy girl that makes the wolf go nuts! I still have Preston Blair's How to Draw Animation books vol 1 and 2 and according to Leonard Maltin Blair animated "Red" from his memory and imagination! His books have inspired generations of animaters and I love Hycinth Hippo that he animated in Fantasia! R.I.P. Preston Blair!

  • Is that Ella Fitzgerald's voice?

  • OWWWWWWWWWWWWWW *BAM!* lmao

  • HAHAHA DUDE this takes me back when I was young seeing that sexy red head and the wolf howling thats FUCKING FUNNY LOL!!!!!!!!!

  • Dude, these my FAVORITES!

  • Who's the voice of red?

  • i think this one is based off of both Red Riding Hood AND the southern girl, in that one episode when the country and city wolf switch places, they have the EXACT same clothes and hair when her car turns into a pumpkin, and seems to change back into Red Riding Hood when she gets on the bus for work.

  • @SuperRoseful we still sing about lots of things on Sesame Street

  • I remember drawing her and other tex avery cartoons as a kid. thanks for posting, almost forgot about them!

  • I loved it when I was a kid, and I love it today... but today I can appreciate it a little more!

    LOL!!!

    "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!"

    jk

  • Did they get one of the Andrews Sisters to record this song?

  • I'd hit it.

  • 2:16-2:20 LMFAO! XD

  • hahah so hilarious i luv it when i was a kid i relly luv it

  • Listen to "Oh Johnny, Oh Johnny" by The Andrews Sisters. Which version do you like better?

  • I love on the full version of the cartoon how she talks just like Katherine Hepburn lol

  • 2:16 was hilarious!!!!!!

  • They sure don't animate cartoons like this anymore!

  • ??? ok tex avery wants the wolf but THAT OLD WOMEN!!!! WOLF KILL THE OLD WOMEN!!!!

  • I busted out at @2:05

  • If I could onl find the original score to this I would be a happy lady!

  • What makes u think that

  • @FastReader1962 i know that sounds to me like Sesame Street is a place where everyone stands around & sings about themselves

  • How insulting! Wolves sound nothing like that.

  • You've got to love that perverted wolf.XD

  • He isnt a perv, he just needs to get neutered. My dog was the same way. : l

  • lol I love how they can just pull mallets out of nowhere

  • wat is the name of this cartoon

  • @cancer2367794 this is from Swing Shift Cinderella 1945.

  • @cancer2367794 Swing Shift Cinderella by Tex Avery

  • i remember when they played this on cartoon network

  • At first, I used to think that the Wolf took the hammer from the Fairy Godmother (since it was shown real fast), but if you pause at 2:17, you'll find that the wolf had his own hammer the entire time. He could have used it from the beginning and got to Cinderella.

  • what the hell.....WOLF KILL THE OLD WOMEN!!!!!!

  • mc chris

  • 2:16 - 2:20 damn that made me laugh

  • @DancinGarou mee tooo haha

  • I think the song should have been in red hot riding hood, since that was little red riding hood and the wolf, and here its cinderella and there is no wolf in that story....eh ah well its still an awesome cartoon I wish they were still on tv now, but you know, some overly protective parent would complain lol

  • @PeytonMarieThompson Agreed..It's funny tho, you should put on cartoon network and see the cartoons today, they are vulgar and tasteless.

  • @GLaMaStaRLeTS There's still a handful of good new shows. Nothing like the classics, but still good.

  • @GLaMaStaRLeTS

Acme Hour was a great mix up of T&J, Looney Toons, Droopy and Tex Avery cartoons. Wish Boomerang or CN would play these (Adult Swim)

  • @eljan81 Acme Hour was the BEST mix I definitly agree with you on that one. Sometimes I watched it just for the Tex Avery cartoons because that's the only place they were found (before youtube).

  • @GLaMaStaRLeTS And disturbing, don't forget extremely disturbing.

  • @PeytonMarieThompson There are several Red and the Wolf cartoons. Same theme.

  • @PeytonMarieThompson It's a sequel to one that is Red Riding Hood.

  • @PeytonMarieThompson You're looking at it as too litteral of a translation. A wolf was a term in the 30's and 40's who would be called a sexist today. It's where "wolf whistle" came from. The whole joke was this was during WWII and she is a pin-up who had to get home before midnight to work the aircraft factory. That fits Cinderella better than Red Riding Hood. That said, this and all the Tex Avery "Droopy" are my favorites.

  • @kellingc

I think "sexist" is the wrong word to use for a wolf. The terms "girl crazy", "sex crazed", or "sex mad" would be closer. Sexism is a form of discrimination and a man can have constant thoughts of sex on his mind without being discriminatory against women. A man can treat a woman quite well, in fact, when in pursuit of sex.

  • HAHAHA! Love the ending.

  • I miss well drawn cartoons.

  • @danitiwa --You took the words straight from my mouth! The oldie cartoons were the best

  • @danitiwa same here

  • @danitiwa I miss DRAWN cartoons period. Most toons these days are done with computers (and not just the 3D stuff).

  • @XShadOBabeX Yes. Drawn animation is ALWAYS the best. i hope to make one myself one day, and when I do, I'm going to DRAW IT!

  • @newtypemo1 I wish you luck with that!! Hope I get to see it on T.V. one day!!

  • I love the wolf!!

  • Who dosent love wolves? : )

  • The lyrics to Oh, Johnny by The Andrews Sisters. I love myself for knowing that!!!

  • hahaha..I remeber this as a kid.

  • ohmygosh. i never realized how naughty these were! x_X

  • @alixinthemiddle which is why these Droopy episodes isn't shown anymore (at least not these episodes) - now the droopy episodes that are shown, are a totally new animation - these are in the episodes of ' Tom and Jerry Kids' or at least from Tom and Jerry kids show. All these old ones with a sex appeal have stopped.

  • @alixinthemiddle I recall reading somewhere that when he designed these scenes, Tex Avery intended for the wolf's reactions to her to mimic a certain part of the male anatomy during arousal

  • Love the old woman !

  • @krokodebil That's her Fairy Godmother, who really scares the Wolf with her appearance.

  • @YoshiAngemon What I saw was the Wolf wasn't on his best behavior.

  • ♥ .
