  • OK, regarding the loading of KONTAKT 5 into FL STUDIO 10. I use windows 7 64bit with a xeon processor and 12G of ram (system is not the issue) KONTAKT seems to be maxed out at 4G and crashes once that amount of RAM is reached. I can run KONTAKT5 as standalone and load around 11G worth of instruments, as the exe file and dll originates in the Program files (not x86) folder, thus utilizing the 64bit platform and all ram. QUESTION:

HOW TO ENSURE KONTAKT IS LOADED INTO FL USING ITS 64BIT DLL? thanks

  • Thank you so much man, i was looking for exactly this kind of tutorial!

  • Question: Why not create multiple instances of Kontakt plugins (vs creating midi outputs for every instrument) each assigned to their own instrument (or a multi if you want to apply FX and adjust parameters for all in that particular instance). Thay way, you can right click in FL mixer and use "Link selected channel-to this track"

Thanks in advance for your time and help,

    infinitecomplete

  • @infinitecomplete that's definitely possible and it works, but i'd believe it's way less efficient that way...opening a midi out uses less computer resources than opening up an instance of kontakt

  • Thanks SO much for the awesome tutorial

  • hey bro......thumbzzz up......outstanding work.....how can i lay the trax on piano roll? please do reply me. thanx....mike.

  • @theiconicproductionz im not sure what you mean? can u explain?

  • sorry if someone already said this but you don't need to add midi out channels for all of the instruments you use in kontakt. in the piano roll, when you're laying notes, changing the color of the notes changes the corresponding channel. considering there are sixteen note colors, you won't need to add channels unless your kontakt is routing more than sixteen instruments.

  • @oceanicblack wow i never noticed that, but i personally prefer adding midi out channels for better organization, and that way you have a separate piano roll for each instrument

  • @oceanicblack that's definitely possible and it works, but i'd believe it's way less efficient that way...opening a midi out uses less computer resources than opening up an instance of kontakt

  • @mmbkmm I don't mean opening up new instances of Kontakt. You just use the same piano roll for every instrument in your Kontakt, just use a different pattern for each instrument and name your patterns accordingly. It's not better, it's not worse. It's just an alternative.

  • @oceanicblack oops i meant to reply to infinitecomplete lol, but you're right

  • Best. Tutorial. Ever.

  • thank you for this video man.. it really helped me :)

  • Just never mind (talking bout slides) I've got the answer I'd been seeking for, so I'm totally agree with ya mm won't be glad having such a great amount of huge posts on musical philosophy, theory, "sliding tutorials" etc.(lol)Talking bout dicks...Sorry, I'm just a bit confused as I was sure in it's reference to myself. So don't try to find any logic here :)

P.S.And my special thank to your interest to help people (including myself) get it what they couldn't possibly get without giving em a hand.

  • @JettMcCoy1 its all good, its interesting to read

  • I just load up 3 different kontakts with three different kontakt instruments.. Not sure why you're doing all this?

  • @juicyjuicejosh efficiency

  • @mmbkmm like ram consumption or space?

  • @juicyjuicejosh exactly

  • not working for kontakt 5 :(

  • Great video, thanks for the information!

  • What should I do when I've got an instrument which contains a lot of sounds, like drums, and I want to have each drum sound separately?

  • Thanks, you saved me some time here.

  • @philinmotion oh and if you want to answer this question: if I'm working with a single "instrument" which is a percussion kit, how do I assign "single notes" to independant channels?

  • Is it jump me, or does the link of this video seem a little... dangerous?

  • @williamyin08 it's definitely just* you

  • @mmbkmm Damn iPad autocorrect...

  • can you please do a quick video showing the correct way to import the sound into the player in fl also how to actually get there please

  • My first thank on you tube ! Cheers

  • thanks a lot bro...

  • Sweet tutorial man!! Thanks!!

  • Great video man! That saved me much time and nerves. Keep doing this! But I still got so many questions. F. e. let's say I wanna apply slide effect in piano roll to any guitar instrument whatever. The problem is those slide notes are not seen by kontakt player and those instruments within(( Is there any way to fix this? Thanks in advance.

  • @JettMcCoy1 i believe the slide feature is only available for the plugins that come with fl studio, there's nothing you can do about that

  • @JettMcCoy1 Sliding, gliding, legato lol fl makes people dumb while it saves them time and energy with it's easy interface.. u can immitate a glide by adjusting velocitys,, attack decay sustain release and so on.. or u can pitch pitch bend, and although its a huge pain when your plugin doesn't have a glide or slide adjustment.. you can automate your pitch knob (it's difficult) but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do! Hope that was a little helpful. And mm Im not trying to be a dick so.. yeah

  • @juicyjuicejosh That's all right. But as you've mentioned this could be very effective ass pain killer for some reasons, including saving time while composing without messing with all that stuff, to make it sound as realistic as possible. Actually I've just changed my attitude to this a bit: it would be better apply all these effects when most part of composing is done: not the easiest way for sure, but it worst a better sound production, IMO.

  • @JettMcCoy1 what is it you are trying to slide? A string section? and yeah well it may be a pain in the ass now, but with practice it gets easier, and two.. if ya get the sound you're looking for.. who cares?

  • @juicyjuicejosh What am I trying to slide? Whatever... And why exactly a string section? Let's say, everything that we could possibly slide. Just turn on your imagination. lolz. But however that's never mind for now, and I'd never used to say that I had lack of practice for those sliding tricks. I just meant, it takes more time than it likely should be taken.

  • @JettMcCoy1 well the reason I'm asking is hypothetical really. what real instruments slide? Not keys, not brass, u really only slide notes between string instruments... saws are string.. bass are usually string.. I mean.. that's why I'm asking I understand you can slide other instruments (sometimes doing weird things is what makes new music) or things sound cool, and I was saying Im not tryin to be a dick at mmbkmm. He's given me short answers and I dont understand the logic here.

  • @juicyjuicejosh lol i took no offense..i just felt one word was sufficient on both occasions. if you liked eggs a lot and you ate one every morning for breakfast, would it be more efficient to go to the supermarket every morning to buy an egg, OR to buy a dozen one day and return 12 days later for another dozen? there's my analogy for kontakt. it's better to have one instance of kontakt run multiple instruments than for a unique instance of kontakt for every instrument....aka efficiency

  • @JettMcCoy1 another reason Im asking you what your trying to slide, is cause you might think you need a slide, but maybe you need a sidechain or a cutoff modulation or lfo, but you think you want to hear it slide... I dont know how much you know about music, so u could be gettin confused.. there's many methods and approaches to music and engineering, so it's good to know what u mean.. but let's pm or skype cause Im sure mm is gonna get mad were commenting like this lol

  • @juicyjuicejosh And two - I really don't care who cares about my sound production achievements while it's just only in progress and unless I have

something to share with at least. I'd been seeking exactly for the answers here (but not for different kinda trolling bullshit) and I'm very thankful

for everyone who's trying help me. And I sincerely believe you're not tryind be a dick according to your first post's statement here!

So just keep doing it. Lolz :)

  • @juicyjuicejosh anything reasonably imaginable can be achieved in fl studio if you take the proper approach. i was asked if it was somehow possible to apply THE slide feature to any instrument. the answer is invariably and simply: no. the convenience just isn't always there. if you're asking if there's any way to establish A slide effect for any given instrument, the answer is yes; pitch automation is an option as you suggested. i didnt think u were trying to be a dick, neither am i

  • Thank you very much for this tutorial :)

  • Nevermind, I found it its my Guitar Rig 4 that's MONOtizing everything. DAMN. Gay.

  • The only problem with this is that it's no longer STEREO. Kontakt automatically takes kt 1,2 and combines it out to a # assigned buss as DUAL Mono in flstudio. Stereo gone:(

You can use balance in the Instrument and it remains Mono. Just both stereo tracks combined.

Please correct me. I am having this issue.

  • very good

  • Thanks, man! Question : is there a way to have an effect on more than one (but not all) instruments without creating an effect channel for each instrument?

  • @Cryofax yea, all u have to do is go to kontakt, and set each instrument to the same channel. for example in the video , if i wanted a chorus on the guitar instead of distortion, i could just go to the guitar output tab and slide to the chorus channel i had already made for the piano

  • thanks! been puzzling over this for ages

  • Very good tutorial. Thanks.

  • Man, you just made my day!!! Very good video. Very good examples. Very good explanation! Wow.

  • thanks man, you're pro :)

  • thanks a lot...very clear instruction...

  • WOW you answered everything I needed to know in one short video thanks !!!

  • thanks, just started using kontakt and was hoping FL could be somewhat useful with it. thanks again!

  • Ey Bro! Nice Tutorial! :D but I Got A Question??

Do U KNOW How to DO this Exact Process but with REASON 5 instead of Kontakt?

Anything would Help so Thanx for Ur Time Bro!

  • Thank you so much!!!

  • I am impressed and now very informed on something I needed to know. I do however want to know how to manage the dynamic KS functions, if you have a tutorial of that please share with us.

  • Hello my friend, I bought fl studios a while back and am struggling. Would you be open to tutoring. Email me at maximus3sl@aol.com and we get discuss pricing. It would be a blessing dude.

  • man can you help me out here? ive tried everything but i cant get kontakt to even load as a vst in fl studio..ive tried uninstalling it and everything. everytime i click on it in channels it says "There was a problem loading Kontakt 4 for an unknown reason. Please make sure it has been installed correctly" thing is, the standalone player works just fine...if you could help me it would be greatly appreciated

  • hey, i even have kontakt 4 listed in my left hand column on FL, but every single folder is empty. Im doing everything right and nothing is working PLEASE HELP step by step

  • I dont have that little marker in the upper left on my Kontakt 4, please help. I open Kontakt4 and then select something basic like the "abbey roads" sections but i dont know how to get the drums in FL

  • You dear sir, have maken an excellent video. This was exactly what I searched for. Yes, it would be possible to read the info out. Yes, it would be possible to "trial and error" to figure this out, but instead you share what you knew - making the learning process so much more enjoyable, not to mention quicker. Thank you!

  • @Humidi ...but I just noticed this is not working for me. When I swap the MIDI OUT Channel from 1 to 2, I am not hearing the 2nd instrument at all. :>

  • You are a good teacher please make more video.Keep up the good work.We will reward you back for your teaching making more new sounds thanks.Remember I was here.Thai 3:55PM 6/26/2011

  • great stuff dude!

  • Simple, easy, understandable.

1,000 thank you's. [Are probably not enough.]

  • That was super helpful. I have always struggled with adding effects to my tracks and I know mastering is what makes the song stronger. Check out some of my beats on my page.

using other plugin, like sytrus/toxic biohazard/sawer/etc i can easily do that in the piano rolls in the fruity loops, but not with kontakt4.

  • Thank you!

It is a looong process, and that kind of suck. But hey, now i know how to do!! so thank you buddy!!

  • Nice tutorial.

But can you please explain how to get FL to see Kontakt in the first place?

  • Thanks man u showed me alot in this video thanks for the info. Really appreiciate it!

  • very clear and helpfull but do you know to records multiple instruments at the same time ? like when i use a string section with a cello violin and viola..i want them to respond to my midi controller at the same time?

  • Great work. Thank you.

  • great tutorial very much appreciated i look forward to more tutorials from you

  • realy good tip bro.now i only have to pull up kontack only once!! ram saver!

  • hey thanks for the tip that really help. what if i want to use, say, drums for example, inside kontakt. how would i route each sample(kick, snare, hats, etc.) into their own channel in FL mixer?

  • Thank you for the help, I needed some light on this topic. You have much respect from me, this is one of the best tutorials on youtube regarding kontakt within fruity.

  • Wow I KNEW there was a way of doing this. Goodbye unnecessarily rendering tracks down.

  • dude u are a life saver...but does the concept apply to battery as well if you are using it ?

  • @sinalyhabib not sure man

  • nice now when i buy kontakt 4 i know what to do! very helpful!

  • where is the kontakt

  • Thank you, probably the most well explained tutorial in youtube! :)

  • great tutorial

  • this helped a lot man good lookin

  • how do u import libraries into kontakt 4

  • duuude ur a fuckin lifesaver man! kontakt still confuses me. thanks a lot!

  • Good lookin mayne! thanks much, exactly what I needed!

  • Very good tutorial! Thank you a lot.

I've got one question left: What would you have to do with the channels that are "unassigned"? I mean the ones that are in the same list with Kt.aux 1[1] and so on. What's their meaning?

  • @TeRRySTiKKK i'm not really sure. as a matter of fact i moved on to a different DAW called Studio One by Presonus. It automatically sets up all 16 channels in kontakt for you. I still love fl studio but i had to move on to a more powerful 64 bit DAW. it's also very straightforward; so i suggest checking it out...it might work out better for you. sorry i dont have the answer

  • could u plz do a video of importing varies sound libraries - thank you

  • Thanks a lot! It helps me very much. Make more from this stuff.

  • Thanks a lot! It helps me very much. Make more from this stuff.

  • I figured this out a while ago, the problem I'm having is with the drum kits. I'm killing myself trying to figure out how to have all the midi notes assign to different mixer tracks, without loading up multiple instances of Kontakt. With drumkits inl midi , it's different, as they're not separate kontakt programs. You have 1 drum kit, with multiple sounds that make up the kit(hi hats, kicks, chimes, etc), is it possible to assign the different instruments in the kit to individual mixer tracks?

  • @VenVile i dont have that little gear in the top left corner that he refers to..i hae installed many plugins but this is a first

  • thanks

  • i need help i have kotakt but i dont know what hapen when i am playing in keyboard i am dont listening help me pls

  • Big thumbs up man, very very helpful.

  • great stuff

  • nvm lolz

  • i put the .dll in the appropriate folder but in fl studio it says unable to load for some reason wtf?

  • Thanks man very much!

  • how do u get it in fl in the 1st place

  • Hwo do you get this ?

  • what software are you using to record video?

  • @doncastellanos camtasia

  • really nice. thanks. very well explained. thanks.

  • excellent video

  • thanks man, you ROCK!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow omfg this is so bomb

now kontakt combined with decimort is pretty much an asr!!

no more redundantly adding multiple instances of kontakt

    nice video

  • I couldn't figure it out too. great video. thnx!!! :))

  • this video really helped!

    thanx!

  • Peace!

I'm having a problem with this...I can't even load kontakt 4 into fl studio. It says "There was a problem opening Kontakt 4 for an unknown reason. Please make sure it has been installed correctly". Any ideas? Think I need to reinstall it? It's already a clean install...

  • Awesome. Time saving and very helpfull tutorial.

    Thx !

  • thank so much man, this is the BEST tutorial I've ever seen about this, been lookin all over youtube for this, but didn't find anything helpful, but finally I understand kontakt !! thx again =)

  • You. are a life saver my friend :P. Iv been trying to figure this out for the past few days panicking. Thank you soo much! :D

  • @DjDerrichJohn thanks, no problem : )

  • k, so all I had to do was re-install then search for the vstplugin folder, and once I found it, I copied and pasted the file into the vst directory for FL studio. followed the rest of the steps you wrote down, and it works! Thank you so much! :)

  • @godlordy you're welcome, glad i helped :)

  • how did you open kontakt in fl studio?

  • @godlordy you need to use the vsti version of kontakt, not the standalone version. put the vsti in your vsti directory. open fl studio. click channels, click add one, click more..., click refresh, click fast scan (recommended). then when you see kontakt in the list, double click it to open it.

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial! It was useful and well done. Best regards!

  • @DevilsRockContract thanks! i'm glad it helped!

  • do u know how to do it the other way? when the option is right under the vst?

  • @kwisbeats i thnk you're talking about the method in older versions of fl studio. if that's the case, then you would have to use the drop-down menu in the top left corner of the wrapper, next to the folder. then select "enable multiple outputs"

here's more info: (remove the space after the dot)

    rekkerd. org/tips-tricks-kontakt-vs-fl-studio-routing-multiple-outputs-to-separate-mixer-channels/

  • @mmbkmm thats the thing i dont have the option under where it says fruity wrapper im trying to figure out how to enable it..like u said though it might b for the older versions only.

  • @kwisbeats i might be able to help you if you take a screenshot of your situation and send it to me

  • @mmbkmm naw its coo.. thnx ..that option im looking for is only on the old versions of fl from what i've seen, n been told from others . i figured out how to do what i was looking for anyways. thnx again though..peace

  • @kwisbeats alrite no problem

  • You probably just saved me an evening of screwing around when I should be getting something productive done. Thanks, man! Very helpful.

  • @precenphix ahaha that was my intention, thanks for the feedback

  • thank you so much

  • @magikshot no problem

  • i put your video on my site padsandkeys . com/videos if you dont want it their let me know i put your youtube address their also.

  • @toxiccrumpz im fine with it. you can leave it there since it will help more people that way. thanks for letting me know and giving credit
