Some drive-in intermission reels used an "ethnic" approach in their descriptions of what was available at the "refreshment stand". This one used a "friendly Italian vendor" to subtly remind patrons that their popcorn was just as good as the one he sold you on the street corner (complete with "peanut whistle").
