sure, already done.
1. study C++
2. get SDK
3. rip off the crossbow code (bolts part) and put it into any other weapon you need.

did you program that thing or just used existing "tools" things to make it?

this would be so kool if made into a mod, just imagine the realism achievable eg. bullet drop, expansion, momentum, muzzle velocity.. i could keep going but you got the point :)
