What's your scan speed on the galvo's? Somewhere around 10kpps with 30 degree opening angle?
I'm a little concerned about the Wiimote's camera picking up the beam scanning and causing flicker. If it proves reliable enough you can drop the entire photodiode altogether.
I'd like to have the same one :o

what kind of lazer filter do you use

Made my own too, but slightly different system. A laser line, webcam, opencv, java and voila you got your own midi keyboard harp for 30 $ ;)

@wax78
Hi, where can I see some details of your project, expecially about the opencv code?
Many thanks.

@lemorlenny I've never released anything until now. Probably will release source or executable soon on my website...

Maaaan, this is sooooo fuckin' cool! It's like a space age Therimin.
Can you input any sound you like?
What output do the LASERs have?
How much power drain does the entire system have?
Can you play two or more LASER beams at once?
Can you hook it up to flash lights or something in time?
Do you need a special input to allow a Wiimote to function on a computer?
What sort of audio output does this tun through?
so many questions do I have, but alas I have but 27 characters left.
I need m

Man, this is a seriously cool device. Just saw the write-up on this in the "Make" zine. Good job!

How much does it cost to build a fully functional harp?
Ltdog234 3 years ago
About $600 for a basic 250mw one, but adding higher power lasers will increase the cost dramatically.

If you ever market em, I'll be in line to buy. That's awesome.

Hi Shobley,
I would need one Laser Harp for an interactive House Clubbing in Vienna. Can you sell me one? Greets florian
Grunzviech 2 years ago
That is insane. Impressive.

2 things
1 what does the Wiimote do?
and
2 How much would it cost to buy a fully assembled one?

't modifies the tone, notice how it changes when he moves his hand closer and further

Wow, that's sooooo awesome.

So, do your plans come with the WiiMote code as well? And you can change that to any sound, right? Like hooking it up to a keyboard and such.
raysingermn 3 years ago
I didn't include the source code with the plans - as I hadn't completed them at that time.
I can send the source out if you need it.
It only emits MIDI continuous controller data, no note on/off. This is merged with the note on/off data from the harp.
shobley 3 years ago
Yep - but between the Toub MIDI library and the WiiMote library, there was only about a dozen lines of code to write...
shobley 3 years ago
You had to write your own software for this? Could this be any harder!?
Way cool!
