  • Want to do multimedia in college next year.

    My hand drawing is perfect.

  • cant wait till college ^.^

  • Searching for a good graphics designer. Any country! (must be able to speak english) This is for a css clan! Add me on skype if interested! jk.engen

  • @iPadArts same here, I'm 13 and I'm interested in graphic designing , I wanna start learning from now so il be prepared. And I do some of my art work on my iPad xD

  • Please tell me... does my blog match up to the standards of graphic design professionals?

Please check out my blog: Thinkful (dot) net

  • garbage i have been doing graphic design for many years now and here is a tip boys and girls graphic schools are only for the degree nothing more, after that u need talent or learn skills on you'r own by sitting in front of the monitor and also paper for 10 hours a day sharpening you're eye, and to be honest if you'r good you don't need school for that

  • I want to be a character designer, what kind of art should I study? Please help T_T

  • Lol @ that school. A real design school wont be found in Wisconsin. Try DAAP at UC

  • Oh great... A student using vector objects in photoshop (of all programs) and feathering them.

  • I have my graphic design PHD and a photography diploma. Long time ago I learned independet is the way to go. Artistic freedom = more pleasure, satisfaction, less stressfull. Did I study for years for someone to tell what to do and what to make? Don´t think so. Money isn´t the most important. Artistic freedom is. So I have my own product. I would advise creatic people to start a shirt line or any other product or label. More money, artistic freedom is the way to go :)

  • Good video! but graphic design isn't a program? it's a form of art expression and imagination, then the software tools can achieve what your expressing.

  • I can tell you right now that half of these schools are outdated, out of touch with technology and simply don't offer the competitive stuff. You'll learn more out of school.

  • looks like a retard school lol

  • I can't draw, can I still design?

  • @nukeadream Yes

  • hhh

  • how much do Graphic Designers earn?

  • @MrLangstar It varies, but working at a design firm, you can earn anywhere from $25,000/yr to $60,000/yr. However you can potentially make more if you have a good business mind and people skills and freelance your services.

  • @MrLangstar Umm depends how many clients you get, how good you are. etc Average 40k per year here in Australia.

  • @MrLangstar all depends on you'r skill level and then talent

  • nice!

    design is my thing

  • As long as you don't have to deal with client relations, you're fine... But in reality you have no choice but to deal with clients because it's not all up to the project manager to decide everything. If you're a project manager, you might quit the field after a year it's so terrible xD

Designing is fun (especially in the game industry) but the clients is what kills the fun. Go watch some graphic designer vs client videos and you'll see what I mean.

  • I am currently a freshman in a magnet high school and i have choosen IT as a career major.I thought that computer programming and networking had assaignments like making logos or websites.

I wanna know if IT can prepare me for graphic designing later on for college.

  • @cutepuppy721 Graphic design can be utilized in many applications a major one being web design especially with flash websites although IT doesnt focus on the art aspect i would say its a good start and you will learn many skills you can use

  • @BusinessXpressions ok thank you..the thing is that we cant change our career major

  • Comment removed

  • Have some fantasie, that is the most important thing.

    Hester from Amsterdam

  • Does anybody know what those markers are? Reply back, thanks

  • @Warfresco prisma color.. they are around $30 for 12

  • Hello youtube. I take pictures from my camera phone and from off the internet that I want to put on tshirts. But the printer people and graphic designers are telling me that the resolution from the pictures is way to low to put on a shirt because it will come out messed up and blurry. What can I do to make it not come out blurry?

  • @cityblueboy1 Use a good Digital Camera with a good resolution, or even a $100 camera from a store would work. It just needs to have a good resolution. And if you get some off of the internet, dont sell the shirts, cause the image may be copywright. Good luck on your shirts.

  • @cityblueboy1 For printing, the general resolution (actual resolution, not dimensions) is 300 - 400 ppi (pixels per sq inch), that generally translates to about half that when actually printed because it prints in dots rather than pixels which are larger. Make a document in Photoshop or whatever you use and make it the same dimensions (or larger) as the artwork you want, then make the resolution 300, you'll see how many pixels it needs to be then. It goes more in-depth but I'm limited here lol.

  • hey i have a Q ,I AM A CREATIVE PERSON okay? i'm sure i use photo shop i make videos with different programs but the problem is i'm not good at drawing! like it's not that easy for me to draw something and i don't know what kind of drawing a graphic designer use so will that be a problem if i study this when i go to college ? bcuz i already applied for this course

  • @0x0snowflake0x0 You don't have to be good at drawing no, you just have to be able to sketch out your concepts. It may help being good at it but at the end of the day the sketches are more for you than anybody else as they allow you to get ideas down much faster than on a computer. If you're an illustrator then obviously that's a different matter, but if it's a general designer doing things like logo's, compositions and layouts and the like then it's not THAT important. Just practice!

  • EUROSTYLE!

  • @bonzobilly Prismacolor pens. You can tell by the cap...but the pen doesn't matter if you're good at what you do :)

  • Yea, good, but the price ? how many per year ? ........... no answer, that right, it's too expansive for the majority of student ! like me for exemple !

  • of all the things i COULD be doing with my life, it always makes me wonder; "Why am I still doing security?"

  • @pyramidhead138 i dont no!

  • The problem with that is that there is way too many programs in America that teach graphic designs. Saddest part is that there ain't as many design jobs in comparison to the design programs. Graduate students don't only compete with the people that have degrees, but they also compete with the people who are self thought designers. There should be guidelines in this country on how many students per year can enter a design programs.

  • @docrock66

    not only in America

  • @docrock66, I'm a graphic designer. I'm working on my BA at the moment. Yet, before I even came into my major, I was self-taught at Graphic Design. I was using Ai CS2 back in high school as well as Ph and AiD. My first year of design class, I already became familiar with all the programs while others had no clue on how to work an anchor point. So, it some sense, there is an advantage. Only way you'll make money, is if you beat out the competition. Jobs are like that period.

  • @EZA757 Thanks for your response, you've read my mind. I feel that some people just choose to be designers, because they assume it might be easy or they just need to declare their major because they have been without one for so many years. There should be strict tests, and screenings before entering design school in my opinion. That way students can compete with one another, and not just pull together poor and weak work at the end of the weekend.

  • @docrock66, yeah I understand where your coming from. It depends on the agency that's hiring you. Many require a certain level of discipline as far you being able to design something within the interest of a company, rather than a personal infatuation. If that were the case, it would fall under Fine Arts, towards which self-expression is more robust. There is a difference between a person who draws Anime and one that does Business Advertising.

  • @docrock66 i understand ur point. In italy we have limited number of students that can enter design universities. However i think that if u are among the best designers and u r creative, you'll find a job, no matter how many competitors are out there.

  • @docrock66: LOL... Let's get real - No one will hand it to you! What you're saying is enrollment should be restricted. The fact is - it's a glamor industry - where one learns has nothing whatever to do with success or lack thereof - (what matters is knowledge, skills and ability - and you can get that from many places - traditional and elsewhere) - Want to be a successful designer? Learn Biz skills too - written/verbal skills, sales & marketing (you obviously need a good portfolio as well)

  • @RadCelt Listen, I agree with you. But there is big BUT. Graphic Design schools are just not really teaching kids what is asked from them in the real world. And in today's crumbling market they literally want a PRODIGY out of Junior designer. They want them to know; marketing, design, web, mechanicals, sales, pr, supervising, and even I've seen at some posts online they want designers to do HR stuff too. It's just not what creative minds are meant to do. Everyone has their own pace.

  • @docrock66 im 13 and im self teaching my self its not that hard!

  • @animefreak873 I agree, its not " THAT HARD". Whats hard is to be "REAL GOOD" since only few people in the industry have managed to do it. Many are doomed to be production artists and publishing layout people for 27K start, that would eventually turn into 70 k. Only if they don't get fired. Many companies don't care about their production people, because they can always find someone else to replace them. You need to be "REAL GOOD" in this industry to make a good income.

  • @docrock66 thats actually pretty fuckin clever....

  • @docrock66

This isn't just in graphic design. Almost any field applies to this. Nursing for example, is a really popular field that many pursue. Unfortunately, while there are a lot of open jobs available, getting to that job is a lot harder than one thinks. Even makeup artistry applies to this. Even if you get your license, you're always competing with those self taught makeup artists who may be better than you. I don't think anyone should get discouraged since this is the truth for any field

  • @docrock66

I am not sure If I understand your comment. I don't want to assume, but it's kind of bugging me.

How would limiting people to enter design programs help everyone to succeed in what they want to do?

I think most everyone is having problems with finding jobs, but it doesn't have to be discouraging. You can still do the things you love to do in other ways while you are trying to find something. Who knows, maybe enjoying just working with what you love will take you somewhere. :)

  • @InkRoze

    Nevermind.......^^;

  • @docrock66 in Europe we have an exam before you enter the program to see if you're motivated enough and if you fit the program

  • @docrock66 My God, they obviously should do away with some of the graphic design classes and offer English and grammar instead. Of course, the government will allow you to take the English classes because you seem... intelligent...

  • @RoflCopterofJustice My God, some of us aren't fortunate enough to be born and raised in an English speaking country. Of course the government will allow people like you with a tight ass to get ahead. Have a nice day loser.

  • @docrock66 My God, some people don't understand sarcasm when they read it. I guess I hit a sore spot though... but at least you seem... literate. We'll just have to work on your understanding of politics and you'll be golden.

  • @RoflCopterofJustice This might have been said months ago, but a general rule of thumb i go by is: sarcasm on the internet is like winking on the phone. Sarcasm is usually picked up by vocal change, hand or facial gestures.

  • i'm in the yearbook staff and we have to do a lot of graphic design stuff and yea you do have to meet tons of deadlines!! plus you have to learn to accept criticism.

  • Graphic design is a club with spikes on it- James Victore

Not all this "create brochures" crap.

  • Oh, I'm a graphic designer degree and I'm an artist too, so the design is an art because the art is creative and inspirational!! I love this video, good job!

  • if your a graphic design degree can i have you so i can get a job

  • Who wants a graphic design job? It's cut throat and lousy pay. If you partner up with somebody they'll steal your clients and you come to work to an empty studio. "Here's $5! Make me a logo!"

  • does anyone know any graphic design websites where i can upload my work for free...

  • How's Deviant Art go for you?

  • Or Behance...

  • With all the vector art out now do you think its possiblle to freelance with illustartion work now. Its been awhile for me but im putting together a portfolio of caracture drawings. Do you have any suggestions on getting into magazines or what ever, like what type of promotion i should use?

  • find out the art director of whatever newspaper you would like to work with. Send them small samples of your work, maybe postcard size at first. Call them back to. Be warned that not many newspapers hire full time artists. Most just hire freelancers for what ever job they need filled.

  • Never thought about newspapers, but I might try local mags first,. And Im not lookin for a full time job, just freelancing on my own. When im done Ill post the portfolio on here first. thanks

  • graphic design is not a program it is a process of best relaying the companies or persons message across to an audience

  • graphic design is art and technical knowledge thats not a question

  • Design is NOT art...

Good Art Inspires. Good Design Motivates.

Good Art Is Interpreted. Good Design Is Understood.

Good Art Is a Taste. Good Design Is an Opinion.

Good Art Is a Talent. Good Design Is a Skill.

Good Art Sends a Different Message to Everyone. Good Design Sends the Same Message to Everyone.

  • and on and on and on...shut up no one cares

  • You cared enough to share your thoughts!

  • Thank you for that message about graphic design. That really sets the rules.

  • Thanks for answering, but I should have said an illustrator who dosent use a computer, just paint ,pencil and paper. Thats why I said vector art, becuase of all of the pc graphic work thats out now. But I do no its not a program. Now that you have said it, I think its gonna become a program soon though...lol.

  • Graphic Design Rules.

  • hell yeah!

  • @aliniaz It does. Even if you're having trouble trying to make a career out of it, you can still enjoy it.
