I've heard a ton of Cass Daley on old radio shows & I don't know of anyone in old radio that looked less like she sounded than Cass Daley. They joked about her looks and even made it sound as if she was fat. She even played Gravel Gertie. In reality she looked nothing like that.

Watching Cass finally on YT, she seems to do the same schtick as Joan Davis, Betty Hutton, Martha Raye, Patty Andrews, and even La India Maria. What a show they could all have done together. And Judy Canova.

A great singer and when she wasn't putting the buck teeth to comedy use a very attractive woman with a great figure. She excelled at physical comedy and pratfalls.

Cass is great. One of her last roles was as a ghost in William Castle's comedy, "The Spirit is Willing."

What a magnificent talent. Cass Daley did physical comedy (like Lucy)... in order to get work. Too bad her clown character upstages her own tremendous voice and stage presence. She really is lovely... kids didn't have dentists at hand in those days.

actually, i think her nutty behaviour only made her magnificent voice stick out even more...listen carefuily the things she does to her voice while she's singing...not many people could do what she did and still sound this good

I agree. Her voice is magnificent. I just recently discovered this legend and thankful you posted this to expose people to Cass' talent. I get the feeling Cass is capable of just about anything! What spirit!
