for the price and the fuel economy this is a superb versatile and practical car. Offers functions and cargo of SUV but fuel economy of a small car. It's like a swiss army knife
The car is so so. I can't complain too much. Nothing to major has broken and it was a great price, at 13000 when I bought it (as supplies of cars newer cars under 15000 are low in my area). They approved the techs to do things that cost a lot of money when no one really knew what the problem was. The company also approved a repair to be placed under warrant even though my actual warr
He's got a point (the video narrator). If dodge had put a more powerful 4 cylinder to go in between 170hp and 300hp the car would be fine, nothing special but it wouldn't be despised so much. It's one problem is that it's unresponsive and under powered with the engine/transmission combos dodge used. I like the idea of the car so let's hope dodge fixed some stuff between the 2007 model and the 2010 model because I'm going car shopping tomorrow and I might come home with a Caliber.
I've owned a Caliber SXT for 4 years now. BIGGEST piece of crap I ever bought in my life!! I have had the suspension(both front and rear) rebuilt numerous times. A complete AC kit, O2 sensors, wheel bearings, door hinges and the list goes on. Buyers BEWARE. I think Dodge wrong named the car, instead of Caliber, it should have been CRAPILER. Just sayin'....
@tprowse0 ... Chrysler really needs to step up to the game with the Cruze and European Focus here .... I owned a Neon for 7 years and drove it until the cost of fixing it was too much ...
aqui en venezuela se vende el caliber 2.0, y tu interior es muy lindo, no se ve tornillos y buen motor , es unos de los autos mejores que se a vendido, viva el caliber
This was the worst car I ever owned, squeaked, rattled, interior was as unrefined as a work truck, bolts/screw heads were exposed and to top it all off, the rear ball joint came loose and it almost caused the tire to fall off, this was a 2007 SE CVT with 20,000 miles on it, let's hope better things are in the Dodge/Chrysler future
@austinman1995 "Cause my 5 series BMW", "FYI out of the three BMW's I have had in my life", and "Unlike my BMW 5 Series" claim that you were were possessing them, which now you say that your dad does? Your story is a bit shoddy.
@austinman1995 I'd rather spend 15 grand on a car than 15 grand on the REPAIRS of that piece of German shit you drive and are trying to boast about. Bitch, please. GTFO with your hating ass. And I don't even drive a Caliber, I'm just calling you on your bullshit. Now move the fuck along!
@austinman1995 You're a jealous bitch. Calibers pretty much retain their value. Look up the prices dipshit and stop talking trash about stuff you know nothing about.
I think this is a fail attempt of state-car , and the quality of the plastics are bad, and a think is based on dodge neon which was bad , I prefer a Golf SportWagen if I want a practical vehicle.
My firend's mom has a 2007 one (idk trim). It has a 2.4, it does nice, pretty reliable! To bad they didnt put a v6 in there, that would be a nice option!
@s3v3rn11 Me too. The car in this ad is the exact color and model we have. Love it. We are only leasing it, though. 2 yrs to go. We enjoy a new car every 5 years.
Yesterday I bought a Dodge Caliber here in Holland its a 2.0 CRD engine. Before this I was driving in a Volkswagen Golf ( VW Rabbit ) I think this Caliber will be drive better ''
lol I am currently renting a 2009 caliber while my 2004 civic is being fixed. my civic has 137k miles on it and drives better than the caliber with only 32k miles on it. the caliber's steering is already WAY out of alignment (my civic's steering has NEVER gone out of alignment) and the CVT tranny is quirky and jerky (my civic's manual tranny is much smoother when operated properly). The caliber also has a rough ride, and easily gets knocked off course when it gets bumpy. I WANT MY CIVIC BACK :(
I drove one and I'm just posting my honest opinion of the Caliber. I'm sorry, I guess I just have high standards, I can't help it....I drive Honda's....
lol they didn't have to file bankruptcy at least. and btw this was the last car that dodge introduced before chrysler had to file bankruptcy. ford and GM are doing better with actually putting out decent products, but chrysler is still in the toilet.
Yeah, i will totally admit that it is a good-looking car....i think that it has an awesome shape, and that it has a very 'tough' look that most small cars lack....but the whole think was poorly executed by Chrysler. it's very cheap inside, and as i said before, it doesn't drive very well. my rental had 32000 miles on it, and would sometimes mysteriously lose power when i was accelerating. sorry to bust your caliber bubble...
i currently bought the 2007 model and i wanted to make sure i wasnt driving anything too soccer -mommish so i bought one with a dark blue paint job. so far i love and how it saves on a lot of gas.
There are only 2 things I don't like about the Caliber, one is the low-budget interior, two is the FWD; contrary to popular belief FWDs are not cheaper to maintain than AWD or RWD, and the part about them being safer because of the grip is a wives tale, that particular aspect depends on the smoothness of the driver and the tires.
Mate, I appreciate your comment; but I live in Sydney where for some reason even the R/T versions are FWD. I can't find an AWD; I don't like RWD that much because I had a bad experience with my old Hi-ace. The only + about FWD IMO of course is that I can just switch the front tires to the back ones when I need to. The downside of that is I had to do it more frequently than my Hi-ace.
Even the 2007 ones.............I'm keeping mine because it's the turbo diesel. Drivers under 24 have high insurance rates everywhere; but here in Australia the government really likes to kick us around, luckily this car has low insurance rates without making me look like a soccer mom.
yeah being under 24 sucks for insurance. do you have to HAVE TO have insurance in Australia/NSW? in michigan you have to have liability, if you get pulled over by police and dont have it it is like a $120 fine.
yeah that forced voting thing to an outsider is bizarre, but don't envy us we have Mexico and the rest of Latin America attached to us. more and more states are adopting restricted youth drivers licenses but it is for drivers under 18, and is mainly limiting the number of other youths that can be in the car with them, not the type of car they can drive. PS the turbo is not big here
I am pretty sure that fiat is now driving the bus , they bought the Chrysler group for $0.0. Yet another raping of ChryslerI dont think that they will ever recover from the pillaging the got at the hands of Daimler. Daimler bought them used them as a technology recourse (mainly for like heavy four wheel drive and the like) and did not put any money back into them.
Its an excellent time to buy cars in the US right now, if you can get credit.
Well that's good and bad to hear, everyone has respect for American cars down here. They have a reputation for guzzling fuel but they're built air-tight and last a lot longer than Aussie made cars despite how much abuse their drivers may give them.
I don't know how much do you believe in president Obama, but how long do you reckon it's going to take for America to turn its economy around? I hear middle-class folks are being paid with I.O.U.s or something.
Presidents dont run an economy the size of the USshe is a leftist douche though. As for IOUs I have never heard anything about that. Actually American cars are increasing their fuel economy my 2005 Chevy Impala gets 31 US gallons per mile and its full a full size sedan.

what a shit car. not only does the interior wreak of horrible plastics that look like they cost chrysler maybe $5 to make, but the suspension is terrible too. it's not sporty at all. it wallows about like a boat with a mad captain. but not only that, it isn't exactly tuned for comfort either. it's not firm, nor does it iron out bumps.
the combination of nasty materials and terrible suspension make this car a piece of shit.
what are you talking about? you can't seriously like this car? but your username suggests that you're already living in an alternate parallel universe...
i need to ask you, how did you get past that horrible interior, and chromey exterior? i hope you realize that you spent about $20,000 on a car with an interior worse than a hyundai accent, and suspension less sophisticated than a volkswagen polo.
our government has proven already that liberals have no concept of money... the fact that liberalxinxamericax has bought a dodge caliber just further exemplifies this fact.
actually i bought for 12000 and umm liberals have quite a good sense for money as they actually happen to watch something call c span. Btw the VW Polo isnt even sold here.
oh and finally my dad owns an 04 hyundai accent. And lets just do simple comparison. My dads car does not have clock standard(we had to buy one at pep boys) it does not have any power features and it has one tone partially dimpled plastics. The dodge has power win lcks mrs sattelite radio, two tone plastics that are slighty thicker (when looking through the defroster vents) and finally features a better texture.
The accent features two different sets of seat cloths (gray outer, confetti styled inner) where as the dodge has black outer, gray mesh inner with a sand pattern cloth set of gray and black pattern underneath. The dodge doors have better catches and do not close themselves nearly as easily due to weight as the hyundais. The seat adjuster mechanism is slightly stronger and finally this car features a refig. in the glove box for drinks. The hyundai does not.
I have a Caliber SXT Sport. LOVE IT! BUT..... the dealership that sold it to me (Champlain Dodge/Chrysler in Montreal) is a joke. They're the rudest, most unprofessional bunch of shitheads I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Tried reaching the big boys at dodge in Detroit, to no avail.
Well near that I'd say it would be worth it. But as long as it has a Chillzone included with it I would say it's worth it's dollar.Considering they have only been out for a few years, it's a good bargan. But hey look into some other vehicles to. Like the Jeeps version called the Compass. But your money your all.
Well congradulations. So glad you made that choice for sure. Cause I always love the style of these. Especially with the Lifetime Warranty coverage you simplly cannot go wrong Enjoy your new Caliber.
They're wrong on the engine choices. It can come with the 1.8 Liter, 2.0 Liter, and 2.4 Liter. The 1.8 Liter is only available with the 5-speed manual.
for the price and the fuel economy this is a superb versatile and practical car. Offers functions and cargo of SUV but fuel economy of a small car. It's like a swiss army knife

You don't have to have insurance, but a fine example of being screwed is our provisional license system:
It takes 4 years for young people to get their full license, and until you do you can't drive turbo unless its diesel, anything above 6 cylinders.
They claim its only for "sports cars", but in reality the young people in Australia get the least pay, and we get the most bs from our government.
I envy you Americans sometimes because its not even compulsory for you guys to vote, we have fines

One thing I did want to ask you was who got the rights to Dodge? FIAT or your government?

But they're really the only new car you can buy for around $15, 000 or without finance of some sort.

It got 33 000 miles on it and i was wondering if that is a good price for that car or not?

Well near that I'd say it would be worth it. But as long as it has a Chillzone included with it I would say it's worth it's dollar.Considering they have only been out for a few years, it's a good bargan. But hey look into some other vehicles to. Like the Jeeps version called the Compass. But your money your all.

They're wrong on the engine choices. It can come with the 1.8 Liter, 2.0 Liter, and 2.4 Liter. The 1.8 Liter is only available with the 5-speed manual.
