Hi, just started to go natural. i am confused what i should be doing tho. do i not wash my hair to remove the shea butter etc do i keep applying every day? i have been using conditioner to wash my hair everyday is that wrong? i also apply hair mayonaise every morning then wash it out after 20mins. am i washing too much? it`s been a month since i started so i am new to this but wanted to wear my own hair now! and be ME. please reply dont want to make any mistakes. loved your vid so informative.
Hello! I LOVE your hair color...it's exactly what I've been looking for...mind if I ask what you used to color it...and the process? Like do you have to bleach it first? Sorry in advance if I sound very "un-knowledgable"...but I really have no idea! Any help would be much appreciated! =)
if you like the oconut oil and shea butter mix (which i also love) you'll probably also really like the cantu shea butter leave in conditioner repair cream. got it for $6 at walgreens and i feel like i got a bang for my buck.
So do you have 2 do the big chop right when you decide 2 begin your journey??
Because i heard that your hair like immediately starts 2 fall out. Like if you just got a relaxer then you decide you want 2 try going natural then when its time 2 get your relaxer again you don't. Please Help :]
Very informative, its cool finding people who have already been through everything and give others realistic expectations. Im still in the easy stages at 4 months and excited so i know in 2 or 3 months im probably going to eat my words. I told a friend today i was going natural so she had this shocking look on her face. My relaxed hair is already thick so we both were like wow this is going to be interesting lol
Confessions of a Hair Transitioner...Excellent Video on this much talked about issue. You did a spectacular job...many things to ponder and think about for a newbie, and very inspiring at the same time.
Hi my name is Adiya. I'm 16 & I'm in my 5th month of transitioning. Uhm, first 3 months or so, all I was thinking about was not getting perms anymore, and I didn't no what to do with my hair, or about protective styling so naturally all I did was press my hair and my new growth. Now I know better and I usually just get a sew in or do braid outs, maybe twice a week. I don't even really comb it. Is it possible I've already ruined my curl pattern from those months of straightening my hair?
U have the. Stages down it is so true Im going into my second yr of being all natural and I'm still search for the right product and style for me LOL :~{
I know you said this hairstyle is nothing special but I would really appreciate a tutorial on it,no matter how simple. I'm not good with the styling just yet. It's starting to warm up and I think this would be perfect for the spring/summer! Pweety Pweety Pwease?! lol
i am sending this vid to my friend !!! i am soooo glad that i stumbled upon this vid because my friend is transitioning, and from what you said.... she is in stage 2!! I am hoping that this will give her some encouragment !! thanks !! :))
I get sew-ns. So I don't gotta relax my hair but , my hair is extra dry. So I have two ?s do I wet my hair again in the (am) wen I wake up then diffuse . And will I have to cut my hair. And wat do u suggest for not cuttin.
@SincereAlbergotti08 you don't have to wet your hair in the am or diffuse, it really all boils down to what your comfortable with, if you feel more comfortable wetting your hair before you wear it out again then do so, if it doesn't matter to you then don't, and you def do not have to cut ur hair right away, but eventually you wlill want to
I looking back over yours and other natural videos to regain the drive of being natural. Because I'm becoming frustrated right now. I have had a relapse a month or two ago...and i relax. Now today I was planning on relaxing, but I just wash my hair...but I do not know what to do. I don't have too much NG, but my relax hair is truly stringy. I don't want to do a BC....I can understand the frustration and the battle to make with yourself. But it's a well worth battle once you have became natural.
yeah i use to worry when i saw alot of hair when washing.but i realized i only comb my hair every two weeks.sometineswhen my hair is dry i check for the white bulb to make sure its shedding and not breaking.
All I can say is amen because I am over the 1year mark with my transition & everything you said is true. Your hair looks great. Im trying to hold on for more length before my big chop because im not use to short hair. hanging in there though...
Thanks so much for all of your videos. I got my last relaxer in June & I'm getting close to the 6 month mark. I found a salon who specializes in natural hair so they have made this process easy. Transitioning so far looks like it's what you make it. I went 3 months with wearing rods sets & I just now started getting blow outs since it's getting cooler outside. Believe it or not but my hair is actually healthier now than it's ever been. My hair is super thick, shiny, & finally getting length
i plan on doing my bc tonight!!! i was pose to do it yesterday but didnt have no conditoner! ill finally start makin vids [pose to have started a whole year ago but you kno how that go! anyway im 11 months in i was gonna wait 12 but im just ready to see my natural hair
ur hair is so pretty i get so angry cause i don't like my hair texture i went back to perms at least 3 times now i'm not going back i didn't really give my hair texture a chance they it takes awhile before you see ur true texture so i about 3 months from starting over would have been over by now if i wold have never went back to perms
but all my back is is natural and the front is still very relaxed with new growth
I am in the last stage. I have been transitioning for almost 10 months and I am soooo frustrated, but also still a little afraid of what I will look like when I BC. I just bought some kinky kurly and some if the ingedients to make kimmaytube's conditioner. Will likely BC tomorrow. Wish me luck! Lol ;-)
Have you ever used Carol's Daughter Products? I love your videos you really have helped me make a decision that I'm sure will be life changing! Thanks for providing so many videos, you inspire us all! Go Girl!
Ariella, that hair is HOT! And thank you SO much for talking about the different stages. It really has been just like that for me. Here I am at month 6 and I am frustrated beyond belief. The only easy style I can do is to slick my hair back into a sock bun, but that requires wearing a scarf as a headband to camouflage the mixed textures and that just results in seriously rapidly thinning edges. I'm gonna tough it out to get my reward and finally "meet" my real hair, lol.
Wow Im a newly natural but I looooooooooooooooooved this video!!!! Im one of those ones who got so excited about a few curls and did my BC after 4 months of transitioning. I was uneasy the first week...but now Im in love with my hair X-) Your hair looks gorgeous!
Love the way you broke this down! It's so funny how we all have different hair and textures but can have so many of the same feelings on our transitioning journeys! Pretty cool. :) There was one stage that you didn't mention that I definitely went through. The "sneak preview" stage right before the BC. In this stage you can't fight the itch to cut but you don't wanna BC all the way so you just start cutting little chunks out just to see what your hair looks like. LOL! Or is it just me? haha
I big chopped last week *Oct 12* and I am soo in love with my natural hair.. however I am dealing with what you mentioned about finding the right moisturizer... I feel so undone like my hair just looks uncombed instead of just natural. I'm checking out some more products but thank you so much for this vid and all the others!
I am at stage one. I'm just tired of getting relaxers. My mother and brother both have a nice curl pattern. I'm ready to see what mine looks like. I already have a short bob style. My back is natural but I still have to grow out the relaxer everywhere else. I am two months post relaxer. Watching your videos has help me maintain and keep going. In other words, I would have gotten my retouch...lol. Thanks for keeping us posted on your journey.
so im like at stage 3! lol ugh im sooo confused and i litterally go to the store 3 times a week looking for anything that ccan help. but this video really did help. thnx =)
i was just wanting to know if flat ironing my hair once a week will cause heat damage. i've been doing that for 5months (i'm almost 6 months post) and i just wanted to know if it's healthy or should i stop and do something else until i big chop?
@suchaBigKiddo i don't think flat ironing once a week will do any serious damage, if anything it might disturb the curl pattern slightly, but that depends on ur heat setting and all that, i would just try to make sure to use a heat protectant, my natural friend Rashetta alwaaaaays flat irons her hair n keeps it straight and yea her curl pattern is a little damaged, but it still curls so, it all depends on you
ur BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!! can u do a workout vid? i remember u said in a previous vid that ur a zoomba instructor so can you do a vid for us? ps UR BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!
this is just ME, but i think you should wash your hair more often. like once a week. going longer makes your hair shed. dirty hair sheds. but if your hair isnt shedding and your hair looks as good as it does in this video, i guess its okay? idk, but if you notice shedding, its probably because of the shampooing thing...
kimmaytube says that shea butter coats your hair cuz its a fat that dries as a solid and thus you gotta clarify your hair..any thoughts??? I've been wanting to try what you suggested about shea and coconut..buit since she's been on longer...any thoughts??? luv your vids thanks for your help!!! -R
@Moabite1978 yea she's right, but remember how i said shampoo dries your hair out? clarifying shampoo is worse, and i have extraaa dry hair. So the way i look at it is i use this shea butter that's coating my hair and weighing it down, then i wash with shampoo and get just enough of it out so that my hair isn't a barrel of hay. To me, regular shampoo is clarifying enough. My hair isn't dull from using the shea butter, however if I decide to straighten it I'm sure that'd be a different story.
Suuuuper cute.
