  • I remember seeing this ad so long ago when I was only 6 years old. Spent the next 12 years of my life searching for this, the name of the song, and the name of the artist. I'm so glad that I've finally found it, my quest has ended. :')

  • wow what a song...great message.the video makes you think alot!

  • I'm loving the way the ad has fully worked on you guys. It's making you all emotional and getting you to feel like you had these experiences yeah? The really good part is at the end of the ad when it pretty much tells you 'call your dad before he gets old and dies'

  • As was said by Kevin Roberts at the end of a speech in São Paulo - after the video, call your dad, not your office.

  • man your video make me cry..

I wish I can spend more time with my father

  • I'm Scottish but was living in NZ at the time when the ad came out. We have a saying here (in Scotland)... "that would bring a tear to a glass eye!" Makes you realise just how precious life is. Enjoy it and those around you.

  • Best New Zealand ad ever.

    Still emotional.

Amazing how slow it seems now though. 75 seconds!

  • seriously the saddist advert ever made. only in nz can they make the funniest adverts (lift plus) and the saddest ones (like this)

  • i wish my father is like that..hope someday they change here bad manner..that is my only wish in my life...i feel cry while watching this video..it is very beautiful..huhuhu...

  • you can tell how deep the love between the father and son. How lucky to live a life like this. At the end, it's sad that we ultimately passed on. But this video captures the memories. Thanks.

  • great song and video clips...keep it up man...

  • this is such a beuaiful commercial 5 stars!

  • A taste of a father to a son .thee touch.God Bless.

  • My mate owned the pale blue Kingwood in the background (00:32). That car was awesome. Standard as they come. Lucky bastard got $500 for it too.

  • reminds me of the good old days of team nz winning the am cup, good old 90's

  • The 'Where do the Children Play' ad was another Telecom one... I loved these ads, I'm such a sook, they always used to make me cry.

  • What a great song! So often, a father and a son relationship is the most stressful parent-child relationship there is. And, I don't think it is intentional at all. Some of the reasons for this stress are being the same sex, competition, clashing egos, and the father knowing that the son is going to continue the family name. Who agrees?

  • In fact, I once read a book that included a son who was having a rough relationship with his father. And, I think that any son who gets stressed regularly around his father can relate to a quote the son said. The son said, "There are 4 fearful things in life-Fire, Lightning, Thunder, and FATHER." Is that classic or what!?

  • I dont know if I'm like a thunder or some other "fearful thing" I've only to say that this video looks at me so crazy ... I see me and my father and me and my brother ... and the time that goes by leaving the pain for the things I've not done or said.

  • more videos like these

  • beautiful :)

  • Actually, this is the one and only time Cat Stevens (now Yusuf Islam) has allowed his music to be used in a tv add... no wonder when you see it... Masterpiece...!

  • There was actually another advert (actually it played at around the time of this one - and I believe it was also Saatchi's) in New Zealand with "Where do the children play" as a soundtrack.

  • My father beat me from pillar to post. So how do you keep in contact???

  • Anyone who can't see the beauty in this spot has no heart. Even if one didn't have a dad like the one depicted here, the emotions, the story and the relevance remain. Beautifu. Advertising well done.

  • ohh gosh..my fave ad of all time and ten years later i still cry!!

  • what's the name of the song?

  • Father and Son - Cat Stevens

  • Brilliant

  • that was NOT brilliant.

  • Oh my goodness... I haven't seen this in years!

  • I remember this ad :)

  • just awesome ... simply brilliant!!!

  • I cry every time...awesome!

  • yeah me too..check out "Dust is My Bed " video..ifya like ;)

  • that ad has always made me cry. And it did again.
