That Bob Costas audio was not even from this original broadcast. I hate when networks pipe in audio from a completely different event just to further glorify a moment. Wack.
Loved this moment though. I remember it like it was yesterday. Great clutch moment by Reggie and big choke job by New York.
I immediately flashed back to this after Ray Allen crushed us tonight. On the other hand the Knicks haven't even had the chance to break our heart in the playoffs so I'm gonna let it go.
i vote this the greatest individual effort ever in sports , considering its to win the game , jordan doesnt have a highlight like this where he takes a game over to pull out a win in the last 18 seconds of a game , kobe dont either , maybe ali could compete for it but i vote this
i vote this the greatest individual effort ever in sports , considering its to win the game , jordan doesnt have a highlight like this where he takes a game over to pull out a win in the last 18 seconds of a game , kibe dont either , maybe ali could compete for it but i vote this
Reggie had NBA best record & were always a 1 or 2 seed after the Knicks & Ewing fell apart. The heat also fell apart while the pacers thrived until the fight in Detroit. Reggie far outlasted all these guys the Knicks or heat had. I'm not fair weather the heat/ny are both good again while Indy has not but the Ewing Knicks had 10 years while Reg's pacers had 18 years. The Alonzo heat were never as good as ny
Lol @ the post game interview when Reggie said they choke - Starks chokes, Ewing chokes, oakley - they're all choke artists. We feel we're going to sweep this team. Pacers took series 4-2.
@guitargodgod yea 1995, ignorant, what do u know about the knicks making 2 the playoffs?,everybody knows that new york was a good team back in the day.Ask ur dad!
@guitargodgod the knicks were a different team back then compared to now. The knicks, led by john starks, patrick ewing and mark jackson were legendary. They were the top seed in the East for one season if i'm not wrong.
@narutohearts99 yeah u wrong the best roster ever for the Knicks and the pacers was in 93 -97 that was the real revality and the roster was, starks, patrick, mason, ockley, charlie ward, dereck harper, hurbert davis, doc rivers, chales smith, greg anthony and the other point gard, and the best roster for the Pacers was Miller, mark jackson, rick smith, antonio and dales davis, byron scott and derrick mckey thats the best the i remember about the pacers and we(still rock) no now but in mid 90's
@guitargodgod new york was actually good, before isiah thomas took over you know. and spending those years stripping down the roster for the summer of 2010. then striking out on wade james AND bosh. wow. LOL.
Interesting how Reggie Miller totally pushes the guy down in front of him (the guy to whom the ball that he stole was being passed), but no foul is called. Making the threes was impressive, but the steal was the result of a missed call. Still, Reggie Miller was a special talent.
i remember this moment ............i still Cant stant it.........but i still bought a regg mil jersey lol......and starks .......my fav PG's back then !!!
Those last comments from Bob Costas are not from this game, but the 1998 Memorial Day Playoff Game against the Bulls when Reggie Miller hit the game winning shot- and pushed off on Michael Jordan.
@alkazoo Sam Mitchell fouled John Starks after the second three. Starks missed both free throws, ball gets batted around, Ewing gets a shot and misses, Reggie ends up with the ball and is fouled and makes two to put them ahead.
And then for the icing on the cake the Knicks in their haste to tie the game stumble and fall as time runs out. For everyone who loves whenever any New York team loses it was a glorious game.
To me, THIS GAME, more than any other, defined both Reggie Miller and the Knicks in the 1990s. Reggie was a cold-blooded assassin who always had the ability to make the big shot. And the Knicks, well, they were always the bridesmaids but never someone's bride.
I remember when I was down at the beach, which was extremely crowded that day, and a plane flew overhead with a sign hanging off the back that said. "REGGIE MILLER STAY AWAY FROM MARRIED WOMEN." Everyone had a good laugh, except for Reggie, and the dude who's wife was effing Reggie.
I am not a Knicks fan, but I expect NY to get 2 max-contract free agents. They might not get Lebron, Wade, or Bosh; but if the Knicks picked up Joe Johnson and Stoudemire, they would be instant contenders in the East...possibly the best team in the east. No one gives Joe Johnson his due respect. The dude can play PG, SG, or SF, and be a top 5 NBA talent , at each position.
I said possibly. NOT A SURE THING! But apparently I forgot to check with the all kowing D-Bag hitmancoolio, who can see into the future. Go spread your limited NBA accumen to grade schoolers, but even they would probably see through you, and could tell you are dumb as a brick.
I have this whole game on tape. I love the interview afterwards with Reggie.
Reporter: Reggie take us through those shots.
Reggie: Well I knew we had to get a quick 3 and then foul. But then Greg Anthony, you know, he choked. And I was able to get the ball and hit another one.
he didn't push him. at the end of the game they wont call that. he was guarding starks but the other guard tripped over reggies foot after his spin to get open. You should blame the passer... that was such a bad pass its not even funny. if he passed it anywhere other than right into reggies hands, they wouldve won. good aggressive D pays off at the end of the game tho!
Reggie Miller has admitted Ray Allen is a better shooter. Ray Allen has one of the smoothest shots ever, while Reggie had a somewhat awkward release. Awkward doesn't mean bad, but Ray's got perfect form. Ray's also got better % from 3. Ray's also on pace to break Reggie's records for 3's made. I'd still take Reggie any day, but Ray is the better pure shooter.
I would take a young, healthy Alan Houston any day over Ray...talk about perfect form. Ray tends to disappear come play off time. Reggie Miller almost beat MJ. I take MillerTime; start raining threes!!!
i dunno bout that one. Reggie is wayyy more clutch in my opinion. There both great shooters but if i need a game winner im going with Reggie. Ray has a silk release tho
I'd take Reggie over Ray any day. Reggie was much more consistent. He was one of the all time greatest clutch players in history and he was far better on D than Allen is.
How does what you said make any sense? "Apart from Jordan's clutch game 6..." meaning, if you take away Jordan's clutch game 6, then Kobe is the greatest player? Wouldn't that make Jordan the greatest clutch player?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
like I said, Jordan is the greatest clutch player of all time, but if you take away his game 6 shot against Utah than I would half to give it to Kobe, btw did you catch the lakers and heat game last weekend?
Clutch ability isn't just about shooting bro. Did you not see his defense that gave Chicago the possession when they faced the Jazz? Jordan made clutch plays on both ends of the floor.
I love Kobe man but come on don't even say things like that.... Jordan and Reggie both hit biggg shots in playoffs when they were hugely important and decided the series'... Kobe has hit some impressive buzzer beaters but none anywhere near the caliber of Jordan and Reggie
Sure its amazing he made 8 pts in 8 seconds, but what makes it so damn special is not only how he did it, but because he made it in 16 seconds left of the game where they was down by 99 - 105..... I mean, the crowd was leaving their seats and so on, thats how sure they were it was over, then all of the sudden this happens... LMAO

Excuse me 4-3 Knicks win in 1994. 4-3 Pacers win in 1995.
Just looked it up.
They met 3 more times ending in 2000.
The Pacers won 2 out of 3 of those series.
Why does ESPN say Indiana couldn't beat NY? NBA.com shows clearly the Pacers won 3 out of 5 Playoff series between 1990-2000

Samething with the Knicks. Patrick Ewing could have won at least 2 championships if not for MJ who broke many peoples heart.

Reggie Miller was amazing, one of the best players ever. If it wasn't for Michael, the dude would have multiple rings .
