It's funny that Judy's fan base knows so much more than the people who tell the story of Garland's life and many of these "documentaries" you would think these people would do their homework. Even Lorna's movie & book had many errors through out & Sid Luft commented on how inaccurate his daughter's statements were. Gerald Frank's Biography "JUDY" is by far the best & closest to the truth than any other book. Judy's entire family & friends all endorsed Mr Frank's book when it came out in the 70's

@NFitalianGuy I agree, throughout the many biographies and documentaries made about Judy Garland, there have been a number of errors and/or stories that conflict. At the same time, however, I find it incredibly inappropriate (and idiotic) to claim that Lorna Luft, Judy's own daughter, has written or otherwise made false statements about her Mother. Forgive me, but how would you know? You then recommend a book by saying that Judy's FAMILY endorsed it, which they did not. Contradiction, much?

I must too say, that she was hooked on Benzedrin (Ampethamine) and Barbiturates with the age of ~ 15 (Often she and Mickey of course too, bouth had to stay for the camera for a movie vor 72 hours! Then get she because she can´t sleep so fast, but she must, because 4-6 hours later the movie was going on again! Then she could not get up often und get Benzedrin in the morning because she could not wake up!) and when a Child adiccted with this age, until her death was taking the pills-no way out!

It is very sad that Judy died so young, but I think she was very very depressed (the whole life?) and at the end oft course. Maybe it was the best for her, she was not 50 years old when she died, but in the reality, she died long long before. She married 5 mens, 3 mens were gay mens. She now this, but she don´t care, it was not imporant for her, she was searching allways a men that protect her, gay or not-that was not important. But I fell very happy that Mickey still is very funny and has fun!

this is all very interesting....however, i really am on the fence about a lot of this information. i have seen a lot of biography specials or documentaries about garland's life, from many different t.v. netoworks and other things like that and they all usually have the same information,and i have never heard that her mom was the first 2 give her drugs, just that she was an overbearing stage mom.also i knew l.b. mayer gave her a lot of grief in her life,but i never heard he touched her.

@lilchuy01 In Lorna Lufts (judys daughters) book, she mentions that Judy never said anything rude to her about L.B and said that he was like a father figure after her dad died. About the mom giving her drugs, I dont think thats entirely false but it isnt true either. The doctor on the mgm lot perscribed it, her mom made sure she took it. (but at the time, they had absolutely no idea that they were drugs. They thought they were cures)

Why did the Guy have to tell the World that Sinatra was her former lover? Whether it was true or not..It kind of cheapens the Bio. We all had lovers etc. Seems you never get a str8 up Bio and focus on just her talent without delving into her personal past. These bios are of her Show Biz life and should concentrate on her Life's work.

I think Anne Hathaway (w/ the right director and script) will be able to pull off the challenging role of Judy Garland- she has the right look and certainly proved her acting chops in "Rachel Getting Married." However, I hear that Anne will do all of the singing in the film, which I think is a big mistake. I'm not slamming Anne's voice (she's a great singer) it's just that Judy's voice is so beloved and recogInzied by everyone-- u can't dupicate that voice.

This was shown on TV only twice on ABC (as far as I know, upon viewing).

No offence, but the BBC obviously don't know her filmography because when Judy and Mickey are singing 'Good Morning', they say it's from Girl Crazy when it's from Babes in Arms!

A brilliant documentary, I'm definately going to watch more!
