I got my TrainSounds tender. I wanted to comment earlier but I have gotten fed up with filming my new fire alarm system and I have had to take my set down. I love the sounds especially the CrewTalk. If I can, I will get it back out and make a video of it.
I like how lionel makes the steam sounds. I have the polar express tender with sounds but the whistle does not blow randomly. I hope you get yours fixed. Maybe try using a modern lionel transformer like a cw-80 thats what I use on mine. Good luck (:
@msj191961 Well the transformer I used in this video uses a whistle throttle instead (it's a Lionel 1033). And the Transformer I use at my train club uses a whistle lever (it's a lionel ZW). My guess is that it's extra currents of electricity that the car picks up, which causes it to blow it's whistle.
Well Lionel made this car back in 05, they also made boxcars with diesel sounds. I'm not sure if they still make these cars, but you can probaly find them on ebay.

Clean wheels, rollers, and track. If that doesn't help, try switching the two wires from your transformer (assuming you are running conventionally)

@msj191961 Really? When I run this car behind an engine on my train club's layout the whistle still blows randomly.
