Aww, this totally makes me want to get a chinchilla even more, i've wanted one for the past five years, but being in foster care makes it pretty much impossible, and added onto the fact that i'm going to be a foreign exchange student to Denmark for the next year, it looks like i still have to wait another year...but i have it all planned. Her name will be Spindleberry, and she will be awesome. Misty is so cute! :D

@emiliame Nooo, unfortunately it's a bad idea. Chinchillas need to be able to be let out to run around a couple of times a day. Also, they jump around like crazy, need to have dust baths a couple of times a week, need their cages cleaned every week, and they need a spacious cage to jump around it. AND they live to be 15-20 years old. I would definitely go for a hamster or something that doesn't need to be let out of their cage often and can live in a smaller, desk-top cage! It'll still be fun :)

@TinkerbellKat Hahaha absolutelyyyy. She freckles my floor with poop every day. My boyfriend has our bunny, and now he's litter trained, so I'm going to get a litter box for my little lady. :)

@hpmanders It's a special kind of dust for a bath! Chinchillas can't get wet because they can't dry themselves. They need to roll around in dust a couple times a week to get clean.

Misty is super adorable!!! I love watching them take dust baths, it's crazy to think they can spin around so fast. Were you thinking she would crawl into the toilet paper tube? Can she fit? That would be crazy!!!

@Voldey I think Kuma would try to eat her, if he wasn't feeling lazy that day. I know Misty would hide for life just SEEING him. Misty is a scaredy-Chilla, Kuma is meaaaan. One of my cats walked right up to Misty's cage, totally friendly and looking like she just found her new BFF, and Misty jumped so fast to the far end of the cage and started crying for help. Poor terrified baby.

@Kaytaaay They're wonderful! It's a lot of work, admittedly. They NEED to be let out of their cage often (unless it's huge, I guess). The room it stays in needs to be chinchilla-proofed (no wires, small areas blocked off, etc). Their cages need to be cleaned once a week, so you have to pay for bedding, as well as hay, food, and dust for the dust bath. They need baths a few times a week. They poop everywhere. BUT THEY ARE AMAZING. If you have the time, patience, space, and money, I say go for it.

Wow she is so much more adorable than I imagined her being. Part of me really wants to get one now, but I'm definitely allergic to chinchillas and I doubt that I could take care of one once I move to college in a few months (and that's only if they allow pets in the dorm rooms).

@penguin112493 If you're allergic, obviously don't get one! Also, I've yet to hear of a dorm that allows pets. Alsoalso, they require a lot of attention and care, so it's probably not the best time for you, just starting college and all!
