  • thats not systema

  • Mikail was saying in an artical that you always hear about how this art came from some body guard too the shogun ect.... well as I under stand it russian played that rule and al thought I beleave that most m.a. develope on their own. bringing bits and arts learn by soldiers in other countries and adding what they picked up along the way. However it was not uncommon as is today that bodyguards consisted of foreigners.

  • This is "Systema"? I am afraid someone is going too far in plagiarism and hoax.

Russians practicing Russian full-contact MAs laugh on Systema cult.

  • Coz it's not a Systema. It's Russian Style.

  • There is hand 2 hand combat =Reality... Then there is sport it's different training.

  • Lol they have achieved this and some people are not eaven able to bileave in it

  • all of the martial arts cam out of india many years ago when india it was a all white country

  • talking about Kalari?

  • all martial arts came from russia, so shut up.

  • i thought they came from ancient greece thats what i read. russia takes a lot of stuff from greece. like porno movies and snow, and even alphabet!

  • that's stupidiest answer i've ever seen. Man u r dumb like a donkey :).

  • ur too uptight

  • I know!!! I'm very uptight...superiorly uptight..so that's it lol :D. I don't give a shit on what u guys thinking...but all martial arts came from my grand..grand..granddaddy...

  • ya but u also can say systema was a system made to defend russia's land. i won't argue it's the best martial art, so u are right, except it was a system made to protect from all the other ones from the south in mongolia and china and everything. so...im not sure, anyways i heard they all come from greece lol. thats probably wrong, fine. systema is still the best lolol...oh and some advice my uptight friend, it's always better to stay loose for systema ;)

  • Check your history, the arts of India are mostly Southern such as Silambam and Kalari, these styles are similar to the styles of Egypt and the Sudan, Africa. The Northern styles are more Aryan and based on Wrestling.

  • i will post this because i'm damn tired of the term kung/gung - fu. do you know what it means? it means to become proficient at something, it doesn't specifically refer to martial arts. the proper term for chinese martial arts in wushu . and i'm not talking about 'sport wushu'.

  • I think that systema is clearly not based on aikido or kung fu, although theree are alot of similarities.

Oleg Taktarov is pretty good, he likes systema and even did a tape with Vassiliev.

  • Not a particularly insightful comment... Systema is a combatives system as much or more than it is a martial art that could be used in MMA competitions, which are bound by certain rules (unlike real- life confrontation/conflicts, for which Systema was developed). Many of the things useful in real- life combat are not allowed in MMA. If you knew much more about Sambo OR Systema, you'd realize that they are cut from the same cloth.

  • Sambo actually came from adapting Judo... Which is completely different from where systema came from. Systema came from Russia.

  • Sambo incorporates techniques from many different arts, but it originated in Russia. I wasn't saying Sambo and Systema are identical, just that there are many similarities which arise from their developing in the same country & culture. In fact, combat sambo is very close to some versions of Systema.

  • Wasn't Sambo created when the communist party was running Russia? I know during that time they didnt let people practice Systema(it was called something else at the time.) Until they found out how useful it was then they sent people out into the different villiages to learn. I have heard Sambo is kind of like MMA. Is that true?

  • Yes, Sambo was the Soviet attempt to suppress the patriotic tendencies of indigenous Slavic martial traditions, commonly called "Russian Martial Art". They had hoped to unify the State under one combat and one sport. Sambo is a composite of the 25 national folk styles of wrestling/H2H combat systems, melded with the fruits of complementary govt research into various European, N African, Middle Eastern, & Asian martial traditions (including Jujitsu, Aikido, Judo, & karate).

  • In my limited understanding, the ancient Slavic martial traditions were preserved in the training of elite- level Spetsnaz units under the deceptive title of "Combat Sambo Spetsnaz," their true origins kept secret.

So I suppose, in a sense, Sambo is truly a 'MMA'- while Systema/RMA is 'traditional' and more combat- oriented.

  • this was cool, not quite as smooth as other systema demos, but thats just more realistic.

I find it unlikley that these guys would dress up in those clothes for classified training, it looks more like a public demonstration.

does anyone know of any videos on systema weapons training (not knives, but swords and staffs like in the demo)?

  • Nice fluid movement. Classified? I doubt it. Just more marketing for systema. As talented as Vasiliev and Ryabko are, they are actively selling a mythology that does not exist. Mind you, I did not say systema is fake or ineffective. I have cross trained it myself and have many friends who do it. But, let's be honest The art is being watered down and marketed to death.

  • Classified...funny

  • Well that one dude was movin pretty quick with his hands. Very impressive. Besides that the weapons stuff looked like slow motion Gung Fu.

  • What kind of style is it? I know its Systema but is it a style that isn't taught outside of Russia?

  • you can get it straight from the source (V. Vasiliev) in Toronto, Canada...or from any of the instructors across North America and Europe that either he, his brother Valentine, or Ryabko have qualified

  • I've just started training in this style, it's great very fluid and relaxed

  • Terrifying. Especially the snow dancing sequence. Yet, wrapping your legs in leather bindings is a great look. I think I'll wear socks wrapped in leather bindings to work tomorrow.
