  • Oh yes, lovely and lovely (and interesting!) choice of music!

  • OMG !! A TIGER !!

  • what did you put on your face last? like what did you dab your face with?

  • wow that is awesome! How did you make your colors so prominent through the powder? Whenever I try to paint on my face the colors always come out duller than what I want tem to be. :P

  • @DevilsKid2 Thank you! I use neutral set powder, and will often press a damp tissue into the set makeup to brighten up the colors once again. Hope that helps!

  • Wow! that was amazing! Good job :D

  • so so cool

  • YOU are SOO good at this where did you learn ?

  • @kitty221pink555 Thank you! I am mostly self taught, with some basics in proper stage makeup at Cabrillo college and San Jose state university.

  • @theassassinnox I am trying to teach myself too, but I find it nearing impossible to do the left side of my face because I am right handed .

  • @kitty221pink555 It gets easier with practice. I'm nearly as good with my left as my right because I've been doing this for years. Just keep going!

  • @theassassinnox Thanks I will keep trying :)

  • wow that is super cool. you are really good. i like it a lot.

  • @spiralofcourage Thank you so much!

  • @spiralofcourage Thank you so much!

  • great tutorial, you are so pretty :p lol i love Rimmel makeup especially, i get expensive freebie samples from - gratis make-up samples - anybody else?

  • loved it

  • This is all stage makeup...though recently I have been experimenting with a bit of beauty makeup as well. *smiles*

  • I get mine from stagesupply (dot) com

  • what is that powder for that you use?

and where do you get it?

    Thank you for your reply

  • I use powder to set the creme makeup (to keep it from smudging). I use "neutral set" by Ben Nye, and I get mine from stagesupply (d0t) com

  • thank you ^^

  • wow

that was actually really impressive :-D

  • If I was a bit richier and bravier I would have used this design for my second Cats visit but it never materilazed. I can imagine that you can get a lot off interaction (or surprised actors anyway) with a make up like that on a Cats visit... Johan.

  • wuts the last song?

  • Sounds like a mixture put together from Micheal Flatley's, "Lord Of The dance."

  • How much can you touch this kind of make up without spoiling it? Is its just big no no or? And how much would rain/snow spoil it if its that kind of day?

  • It's best to try to avoid touching your face when you have makeup on, but as long as you are careful you can do a bit of touching. Rain will remove the powder, but so long as oyu don't touch it it should be fine. I'm from California...I don;t know about snow!

  • Youre welcome :-) Its funny to see how well male cats go on female faces, almost kinda unisex feeling. I wounder if its the otherway around to (female cats on male faces) Johan.

  • I suppose it could go the other way around, but it would be more difficult. It's easy to make my jaw look more square with shading...it's harder for someone with a square jaw or a strong chin to look more delicate. It most certainly can be done, but is more challenging, and not often done well.

  • Amazing! Looks so easy when youre doing it... Shimbleshanks is one of my favorite male cats and I am kinda dreaming of making a cats make up at my next visit to the show if I can "push" myself to dare to do it.... What production is this inspired by?

  • Thank you so much!

This makeup is actually one of my original designs for a commissioner. I had created his wig already, and wanted to make a face to match. I had worked with him in the past, so this makeup is based on what I feel would be flattering to his facial structure, as well as all of the colors that I put into the costume itself. If you like the design, you are welcome to use it.

  • Great make-up, what kind of ..powder(?) do you put on in your face in the end of the movie ? Something special ? Ö

  • Thank you! I use Ben Nye neutral set powder to set my makeup. If youa re okay with dulling down your colors, baby powder can work as well.

  • Okay sounds good, I'll take a look after some of that myself, well baby powder is fine as well :)

  • is this the same powder you were using at 1:58 ?

  • It is indeed!

  • ur very good ,,thnx

  • it's funny how you have to keep a straight face to put the make up on. so it will go on evenly and exactly where you want it. cause at the end you smile for like the first time the whole video.

  • *laughs* It's all business until the end. Thanks!

  • hahah lol nice job!

  • lol when you first do thr single line for the eyeborws it looks like kabuki:)

  • wow thx for upload this i love skimble^^

  • fascinating. truly remarkable.

  • Thanks for sharing! Your work is fantastic. I'm an actor whose trying to learn more makeup... and your stuff is very helpful, and I have tried several attempts based on your designs. Mine aren't very good... but it's a start. Keep up the great work!

  • WOW! really really kool!

  • ...whats the stuff you use with the brush? the stuff from the white jar, what is that?

  • setting powder...look at the ben nye website...they have everything there.

  • there u r skimbleshanks!

  • awesome! i love how it looks and that's pretty cool..only what kinda music was that in the background?

  • meow

  • all the songs is frrm the soundtrack of RIVERDANCE :)

  • that's eerie. good job!

  • me encanto

    xx

  • WOW!!!

  • ur like really really really GOOD!!!!

  • thats just way to cool

  • where did you buy that ben nye stuff online? I can't find any :(

  • i think your skills are really impressive! i love your techniques. i am so happy that i bumped into your videos before halloween. i have been thinking about doing a Cats theme costume and i will be using your face painting techniques since they are inspiring and you make it look easy. i just wanted to know if the powder that you use to powder your face after applying the makeup is baby powder or is it a specific powder for face paint? please answer me soon as halloween is tomorrow!!!

    cheers!

  • You are good!

  • That is really good makeup of skimbleshanks, i will use your thechnique for the eyes to form a skimbleshanks at the crew makup for CATS at JT.

  • I'm also thinking of doing something like this for Holloween, what's that white powered you put on your face to smooth everything out?

  • no speak english, wath miusic is in the video?

  • Music is River's Dance from the Firefly soundtrack, and a mix (Sadly, I don't have the information)

Wish I could help, but I don't know.

  • Is the makeup that you used just the kind of creme makeup that comes in the "pots"? And do you mix it with anything? I'm thinking about using it for Halloween and maybe I was just doing it wrong in the store, but I had an issue with getting it opaque. :\

Amazing job by the way, your work is stunning!

  • I hear riverdance at the end

  • wow. this is my first time watching a make-up thing like this on youtube and it's amazing o_o

  • jeez i seriously need that ben nye stuff

  • Your video fascinated me so much that tried a similar thing on my face. I did a combination of Zebra and Tiger but I used metallic shades of bright pink, flouroscent blue, cherry red and lots.... it came out sooo well that I could hardly stop writing to you...

  • doesn't he tend to have a few more stripes? *hasn't really paid too much attention to the tom* good work though!

  • There is a ton of variation from cast to cast. This is my own design. So it's likely that you have seen someone with more stripes. *smiles* Thanks!

  • hello, my questiopn was bout the products names use are using on this video. Is that cryolan? Thanks a lot.

  • I am using Ben Nye creme makeup. Thanks!

  • how do you call the white powder you used? Thanks a lot ok?

  • It's "Neutral Set" powder - I've used it myself, but I tend to not use as much so my makeup has smudged in the past :) I need to learn not to skimp on it and just use the stuff! (theassassinnox - hope you didn't mind that answered!)

  • Not a problem at all! Thanks for covering that. <3

  • Hey there! Had a quick Q for you about the Ben Nye - have you had any problems with it smudging onto your costumes or "running" when it's humid outside? When you do the makeup do you use the liquiset or matte sealer at all to help set it beyond the Neutral Set? I did take a look at your website, and didn't see anything listed beyond the neutral set powder - I think my problem is that I'm just not using enough neutral set cuz sometimes I smudge! :) Thanks and I love the time lapse videos!

  • I will use the neutral set powder. Then, if I feel it's really hot or I'll be really active, I often hit my face with final seal spray as well.

I'll often get makeup on the inside of necks and collars, but since it doesn't show, it doesn't bother me much.

  • Awesome! Thanks for the reply - I'll have to give it a try - I think it's because I'm not putting enough of the neutral set.

  • Great work!!

  • *claps like crazy* that was amazing! I luv CATS!!!! I saw the one of you as Jemima which is my fav cat on the Musical. Questions: 1. How much does the full set of Ben Nye make-up cost? 2. Why is your nickname shadow? 3. Can we just use normal baby powder to seal our makeup?

  • 1. It totally depends on what you're getting. I don't use a specific "cats kit" for my makeup, these are all colors that I have gathered myself. 2. It's a name I used in a story a long time ago...it stuck. *smiles* 3. Baby powder will dull and dilute your colors, but works well in a pinch.

  • Awesome job Shadow!

I <3 Riverdance, nice to see someone use the music!!! :D

  • ?????

  • What's the question?

  • What's that stuff you used to brush on (not the make-up)? Was it powder?

  • That is translucent setting powder to seal the makeup.

  • nice music, nice finish! cool cat!

  • nice music

  • You are an inspiration to us all =)

  • YEAH SHADOW!!!!

  • whooo shadow! it looks wonderful! i love how vibrant and smooth it all looks :)

i hope to someday be as good as you!

  • Amazing as Always Shadow!
