I can understand why hollywood needs their writers, but isn't there ANYONE else in the industry with a sense of creativity? What about the actors? I always thought Jay Leno came up with his own material(or at least it seems that way sometimes). Bruce Lee did his own plots and they were others I can't remember at this time. I'm not saying replace the writers all togather, but can they at least brainstorm until the situation is resolved?

Imagine all the trades that require harder physical labor, pay less money and have no union to make headlines. Or imagine trades moving offshore, or stores closing when unions try to get off the ground, the way Walmart did in Texas when a butcher's union was voted in by employees. O my GOD this could be so great for americans, all writers will be fired, Tv shows would not be able to show there filth to our kids, I see this as a win win for all americans. Maybe after they quit we could start to reverse some of the damage that tv has caused this country

I think writers desvere half of those billions from movie companies because they write funny, suspense, drama actions shows and movies. It's because the top management won't give them more what thier earning. Without writers we won't even get to watch any shows. I blame the corporate who is in charge of salary base and raises.

I hope this strike culminates in the whole entertainment industry shutting down. Then maybe americans will stop get off their asses, gain a few braincells that they lost by watching paris hilton get arrested again and again, and start questioning whats really going on in the world.

Well the WGA strike only affects American television as far as im concerned, because the writers only write for mainstream American zitcoms, thats why i specificed on Americans not watching TV when the entertainment industry collapses. Thats not to say that Americans are the only ones in the world that watch TV, I never said that. I dont think it would be the end of the world if there was no TV, and I think Americans would start to look to other things in life.

I agree with you about tv I just hate to see Americans singled out. American Tv actually plays and is popular all over the world actually, thanks to satellite. Most shows especially current prime time shows are dubbed into virtually every language. I talked to someone in Bosnia once who knew what TRL was. Lol. I'm not saying it's a GOOD thing, just talking about studio dollars taking a hit.
