i love all the really popular street artists like swoon, bansky, fairey, etc. and i personally think that MBW is a product of banksy. i think banksy didnt say to him "go do street art" i think he told him to do all the things he did to make a point to society and all the people who (for some reason) actually like his art that sell outs have a lot more power then non-sell outs and it's easy to sell out, but he didnt. i think MBW is an act.

now that is a real street artist! there's passion behind it, it's original art, not just plain stencils with cliche political satire or senseless tagging going on, I've known her work for a while but never knew her as a person. She seems like a person I would love to have a drink with and talk about life.

its called wheat pasting or paste ups, yea its basically wallpapering with an exception for the glue

its called wheatpasting, a flour and water mixture that is boiled and let cool that acts as a really pliable homemade glue, which is great for paper. the reason she is putting a layer over the top is because it works out the bubbles and adds a protective layer

i find that to be an odd statement seeing as her art is nothing like banksy's at all. banksy uses stencils and generally focuses mainly on humorous images, while swoon does woodcut prints which she then wheatpastes up, and her subjects are of a more serious nature. the only similaritiy that i find is that they are both street artists

First I luv her art, that said, why is it that those "white upper/middle class idealist think that living in the worst section of a city somehow enlightens them?. I grew up in Detroit, in a very worn neighborhood, we were very poor, and I struggled to get my education so I could have a better life for my children, a safer life. I do no hide from my childhood but growing up extremely poor holds no glamour except for those who have never been hungry, or had the electric turned off.
