@HidanTheHollow they didn't say it was going to be an open beta in February or March. they said in feb, they would select the members of the press for a closed beta period, and March/April was going to have special Beta events which would give "most" the chance to try it out. they made posts later on that they arent going to be open beta, but weekend long events that will allow many to play. most likely stress testing

check out gw2 guru! an anet member called Martin Kerstein said there:

"We purposely didn’t use the term “Open Beta”, we mentioned Beta Events. To some people Open Beta means unlimited access to the game and everybody on the interwebs can play it. This is not what we will do."

So these " Beta Events " they are doing IS this kind of thing, known to us as " Open Beta " Release will follow right after that.

@HidanTheHollow lol essentially it will be "open beta" but only for very small windows of time, like just a weekend. that post they made about not using the term "open" was because they didnt want people to assume it was going to be week long testing like many are used to and to avoid angering those who misinterpret, so essentially when one person says its open beta, it will mislead many people causing them to feel cheated...i was just clarifying to help such people

well, not open for everyone, but what they are doing is called " beta Weekends " and we#re referring to that as " Open Beta ".

@Amelia2050 They polar bear is a Kodan. It's gonna be a minor race in GW2 that you can interract with. They come from the Far Shiverpeaks, beyond the accessible areas of EOTN. They are told to be a cousin race of the Norn. There is an article on them on the Arenanet blog.
