MrKirk379 You are so right! Vern Gosdin is right up there with the very best! He has one of the best voices i have ever heard! There's just something about his voice... He will be missed so much!! God Blessed , Vern Gosdin!!!
He should be inducted into the Hall of fame....In my book he,s right up there with the best of them Merle Haggard, George Jones, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, ect. Vern Gosdin's voice was instantly recognizable and He had a singing style like no other. You have my support Lacy Lynn and I hope you succeed because He belongs there. This comes from north of the border at N.L. Canada.
Country music at it's best! Vern and Lacey's voices harmonize so well in this song. My family has always been big fans of 'The Voice'. My son's happened to see the funeral procession go by in Nashville and the reality of the loss of one of country music's best ever really was felt. He never got the recognition he so deserved. Hopefully he will eventually be inducted in the Hall of Fame.
@brunester1 Yes! It is really me! I still sing from time to time and would love to possibly venture back out on a tour of some sort! I just opened up locally for Tracy Lawrence and then more recently, The Kentucky Headhunters! I truly enjoy singing. Thank you so much for the compliment. I now live in Iowa and own my own restaurant! I so miss my friend Vern! If we would have kept recording perhaps we would have gotten Duet of the Year! Live Safe & Happy!
Thanks for the response. If I'm ever in Iowa, I'll stop by the restaurant. I hope you do keep singing. A voice like yours should be shared with true country music fans. If you're ever in Carrollton, Ga. (can't imagine why you would, but hey, who knows?) let's do karaoke. I won't be as good a Vern, but almost. Keep all of us fans posted on any upcoming performances. Be well and keep singing.
It's inconceivable that a singer as good as Vern Gosdin, also known as The Voice, has not been inducted into The Country Music Hall of Fame. I must say this is gross injustice. It's a real shame!!!
mclenptp, i'm sorry not to offend but i do not think that you know what you are talking about. Many many people in Europe loves country music. I'm a Europian myself, from Holland.
im a classical pianist from italy. When i hear country music sung this way, i dont think it has less to say than bach, chopin, etc. It's immortal Art as well -and Vern Gosdin is a powerful source of emotions
To pianofolle: I am so glad you have high regard for country music unlike majority of Europeans. Yes, Vern Gosdin, nicknamed The Voice, was indeed one of the all-time greats. R.I.P. Vern.
I have always loved this song - from the first time I heard George and Melba sing it. If Melba wrote this song (?) it makes me wonder why there are some different words in their version and this one here. I do like this version by Vern and Lacy too. It's really a winner. Thank you for posting - Paula
before bedtime I have to listen to his voice,so sweet and I just click on his name, cause iam a country fan.specialy vern a great voice,he is a angel now but his songs will allways in my heart and mind.thanks Vern.Lindsey from Holland.
Very nice.. there is another lovely duet by Vern Gosdin and this lady, Lacey Lynne,on youtube, called " Streets of Gold " but the poster has it wrongly, as sung by Rhonda Vincent.
Hi There All...it's me...Lacey Lynn! Hope you like the harmonies! We did 4 other songs together on that album. Oh...those were the days. Keep listening.
Heartbreakingly beautiful - starts nice, but when the third voice kicks in it really goes into top gear! Thanks, Vern and Lacey. (Vern, I've been into your music since the Gene Clark LP and the Bakersfield Int'l 45s with your brother. Thanks for all the good music!)
If that's really you, Ms. Lynn, I have to say you have one of the clearest voices in country music. Mr. Gosdin's voice complements yours and the combined sound is so pristine. Too bad he's gone. Thanks for providing one of the most memorable duets I can think of.

@Iowalacey : When it comes to harmony and clarity of voices, your wonderful duet here with the late Mr Vern Gosdin beat all other versions hands down. Anyone disagrees?
@Iowalacey i've always loved the duet, i bet you don't miss VERN as i do. i've emailed all sorts of people in nashville trying to get VERN inducted to the Hall of Fame!!!
Thanks for this post. Another great country song.
