  • so what did you think? tasty? sweet, semi sweet?

  • @VxHONEYxV8: I would describe it as kinda bland with its sweet spots. I will pick other in a few weeks to guage the difference.

  • wow look @ that beast how did it taste?

I have 2 ananas melons to pick soon they just started 2 change color & are letting out a pleasing smell!

I would say that both of them together are still smaller than that water melon!

  • @fatturdburger: I would try to wait until the stem attached toward the furit drys out a bit. I'm not familiar with the breed you are growing so it may keep growing and growing like some zucchini. I guess you can tap it too.

All-in-all my melon was a little over 3lbs or about 1.4kg. Mine did not taste too sweet as I should have left it on the vine a while longer.

I guess picking one and judgeing the ripeness by trial and error is fine if you have several more on the vine like I do.

  • @bmwsux4 3lbs nice! I found out the type I'm growing is a musk melon & is ripe when it comes away from the stem, I noticed the melon started 2 turn yellow & a little split form around the stem allso it smelt realy sweet so i lifted the melon & it came off the stem easily. It only weighed a few grams under 1lb tho :( but I have 1 more slightly smaller I'm hoping from the sweet smell it should be good!

I'm pleased as was 1'st attempt 2 grow melon.
